She gave us amazing suggestions and we were able to decide on exactly what we wanted. Our outings were better than I could have imagined and views from our hotels, which she suggested, were breathtaking! But, alas, all things must come to an end. Even though we wish our trip never ended, we now get to look forward to booking another trip, with help from Arienne, as soon as possible.

She got us tickets for England that were incredibly priced. What a great travel agent for business or personal travel. Recommended without reservation. Check into these guys for sure. Last December I joined them for the annual ski trip to Steamboat Colorado. This trip has been happening for over 10 years at this point and I finally decided I would go and check things out for myself. I can honestly say I had a blast. I met a ton of people and although I am not a skier I was welcomed with open arms by all several hundred people who joined in the fun as well. I've never traveled with a large group of people so this was a whole new experience for me. I was fortunate through happy hours and gatherings prior to have met some great people and decided on my roommates in advance so we could sign up together. The price for me as a Non Skier was fantastic to be honest. You can plan your trip to suit your specific schedule over about a 7 days span if you wish. We all decided to go for 4 days. Depending on your group size or your specific needs there are several places you can get accommodations. We had a great condo with some really fun upstairs neighbors who were also on the trip. There are plenty of activities planned if you want to partake or you can just do your own thing with a few or a lot of people. A lot of the organizers for events are volunteer so I was also hijacked by a few friends to help out with the Saturday night Pub crawl through town. The great thing about it was, we were so welcomed by the locals and Outdoors Co has set up shuttles to pick us up at the last stop so none of that pesky worrying about how to get back or any of the other things that could happen as a result of a festive nights pub crawl. Looks like dates for this years trip have already been posted. Still trying to decided between winter or spring vacation. I have heard rumor of some new trips to warmer climates being added this year.

We stayed at Secrets Akumal, Riveria Maya about an hour south of Cancun where we got to swim with sea turtles right off the resort beach!! It was the most amazing trip ever!! There was a time when I might…read morehave whipped out Rick Steves and Lonely Planet and started making an itinerary and reservations. But either travel has gotten more complicated in the forty years since that was true, or my mental and energy levels have declined. Either way, if I'm taking a trip, I need knowledgeable help. I found Amanda to be the person to go to for that help. I recently completed a trip to New York City. I found the concept more than a little intimidating, so turned to Amanda for planning assistance. She found a hotel in a location that was both safe and convenient. Based on two or three conversations, she put together a detailed plan, filled with not only times, dates, places, and tickets, but with detailed information on what to expect at each chosen location and tips on how to get there. She also revised the plan based on changes I made in my plans. Unlike what I'd have found in a published guide, Amanda was always available to clarify what this or that bit of information meant. Her services were not limited just to planning, but to advice and problem-solving during the stay, including resolving an issue with the hotel within an hour of my learning of it and before I even reached the hotel. At times I felt as if I must have been her only client, so high was her attention level; but, in fact, she warned me on the day of the great worldwide computer snafu not to expect responses as quickly as I'd come to expect because she was shepherding people home from all over the world. (I still got my question answered in just a few hours.) Her follow-ups before, during, and after the journey told me that this was more than an occupation or a business to her, but that Amanda Scout genuinely cares about the quality of her clients' experiences.

The G R Bar Ranch has been one of the most fun vacations we have spent in Colorado. Located near…read morebeautiful Paonia, the ranch offers 4 cabins for a week long stay; cabins are a mile to a mile and a half from each other so you feel like all the ranch belongs to you. Each cabin comes with 2 horses and their tack. (You can get more for an additional price.) When the husband and I checked into the ranch and Arrowhead cabin, their ranch hand brought us a matching set of ponies and started to show us basic horse care. Once he realized I was an experienced horse person, he said for us to come get him if we needed any help. Other than the ranch hand coming back the next day to ask if I would trade my pony because they needed an easy horse for another family for Smitty, the ranch's pack horse who had not been ridden all summer but knew Smitty and I would be fine together, we had the ranch to ourselves. There are tons of trails to ride on, lakes to fish in, boats to paddle in, and 4 wheel roads to drive on (all inclusive). We did not see any of the other families the whole week. Now, if you are not such an isolationist as we are, you can go down to the main lodge for a visit with other families or the owners. The cabins are run by propane and slightly rustic. You have all the comforts of home except a TV and telephone which is what we wanted for our vacation escape. We did go into town to get fresh peaches and other food but basically spent an incredible week catching up with each other and pretending Arrowhead was our private cabin. From reading the guest book, families come year after year even leaving some personal items such as games and sports equipment doing the same thing we did, pretending this was their private get away. The only reason G R Bar gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because they advertise the great fishing in their lakes. Since we were there at the end of the season, most fish had been fished out and eaten. This made the husband a bit cranky as he is a catch and release man. Other than that, I cannot even begin to tell you how fabulous the G R Bar Ranch is for a family vacation. And once you go, you become their family and receive a Christmas card every year.

It is literally off the beaten path (you should have 4 wheel drive) and not one of those places where there are ten cabins next to each other and you wave to one another from your individual fire pits in the evening. No, this is the real deal! You are alone, you have no neighbors, and there is endless abundant nature to explore. I loved my early morning cup of coffee on the front porch. The air smells so good and just listening to the little sounds around me, the rustle of the leaves, the small animals and birds, was so soothing. It is rustic (everything runs on propane), but you will have everything you need in one of the most beautiful places there are. I was actually worried about my teenage son on a recent visit (there is no "free wifi" and cell reception is spotty or nonexistent), but he loved it! This is a wonderful place for families to connect the old fashioned way - play a board game, hike, fish, go horseback riding, or just relax. I have heard they also have great hunting for those so inclined. My family and I will definitely be back for another visit, and I can wholeheartedly recommend this beautiful place to anyone looking for a very special vacation spot. Five stars!!
