We are glad that we went to Sean's pub in the evening. We had wanted to hear some live Irish music and lo and behold they had it the night we went. They have live music on Mondays and Fridays. The atmosphere was quaint with a warm feel. The food and service were exceptional! We had the Warm Goats Cheese Crostini and Fish Cakes which were recommended by Sean. They were both very tasty and we highly recommend both! All of the beer tasted fantastic! They must be really diligent about cleaning their draught lines! The pint of Guinness was the best I had in Ireland including the brewery itself! They had beer from a craft brewery called McGargles. The pale ale from them was very tasty! All in all this is a great little pub and not to be missed while in Adare!

Yes absolutely, but who the hell cares; Bill hooked me up with my first pint after one long journey from NYC and I will be forever grateful for it. Walking in, we found a well sized pub with a nice selection of beers on tap. The usual selection of Smithwick's, Harp, Bulmer's cider were to be found, and I couldn't have been happier to see them waiting for me. The first thing that really struck me however was the music. How could we have known that Bill Chawkes was voted the number one country bar in Ireland? So while we were sipping on our pints Shania Twain and Toby Keith sang about pickup trucks and broken hearts.......just what we were looking for in Ireland, American rednecks haha. Again though we were exhausted and thrilled to be anywhere that had a cold pint and some food. We made our way to the nicely sized backyard and found a nice table in the shade. After a few minutes (and a few rounds) we ordered up a bite to eat; I had the burger (Irish beef is awesome), and my date had the chicken curry. As soon as the curry came out I knew I had made a terrible mistake, as it smelled like heaven (tasted like it too) but alas I had to settle for "curry fries" which were almost as good. Like I said maybe it was the jetlag, or the thrill of finally making it to our destination (or both), but this was one of the nicest meals I had on the whole trip. If you are in Adare, Bill Chawkes is absolutely worth checking out; good food, great location, and a lively crowd in the evening - you can't go wrong.

Once I got over the initial shock of realizing that Shania Twain, Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks were here to stay, I settled in. I just took it as a sign that Ireland was welcoming us with an easy transition. The bar tender was a friendly gentleman that helped us pick brews and took our orders after a few drinks. Even though we were outside, he was attentive and timely with service. As we enjoyed the afternoon, we got to meet another American couple that had been visiting Ireland. It was nice to get their opinions of what they've done and where we might look into going. Although, when the food arrived, we couldn't help but ignore them while we dug in. I had made a choice to eat local cuisine while in Ireland so I had chosen the chicken curry (diced chicken in a thick curry sauce served with rice). It was just delightful. My date had ordered the cheeseburger and french fries which was also quite good. The beef is certainly a different flavor over in Ireland and the french fries were great (especially dipped in the curry). The environment is great, food is fantastic and service is well done. What more could a person look for in a local pub. I would be happy to return to this little quaint town and, of course, I'd make sure to have my first pint here.

The menu was all over the place with no consistent theme. The food was okay. It wasn't terrible- but it wasn't anything we were excited to finish. Overall, the best part is the aesthetics on the outside of the building.
