I said GREAT, but then he said it was still a very expensive job. I asked him why and he mumbled something about overhead and cost to do business. He offered us a one year warranty on a capacitor or a 5 year warranty on a different capacitor. One was $650 the other was $850. By the time he got done we had a $967 bill for a job that averages $200. Look it up, and avoid this predatory company at all costs. Im pretty sure we were taken advantage of because of our extreme age and the fact we needed the air conditioning to survive.

You can tell that they take great pride in their work from how detailed their quotes were to how they prepped and cleaned up their job areas. I have never seen an electrician (or any contractor) who does such thorough research before showing up for a job. Don't fall for the fake reviews on here from other electricians like I did!! Hint hint if they have over 100 reviews and all are five stars then go read the real ones who gave one or two stars. Anyway, Paul was one of 4 electricians whom I vetted for a home renovation. I did not select him originally because he was the most expensive (as it turned out the higher price was because of how I had piece mealed my work order). I made a mistake in selecting another electrician who rushed through the job, who swore nonstop at every simple work order request and who stressed out my entire construction crew from the plumbers to the carpenters. I pulled the other electrician and called Paul to save me. They did a fantastic job from ceiling lights, ceiling fans, thermostats, to full wiring of a new bathroom. I highly recommend this father and sons business. Would give 10 stars if I could!

Called another company who sent 2 guys for 3 visits because it just didn't get fixed. They charged us ~$2000 for replacing two things + labor, and the problem still wasn't fixed. At that point I decided to pivot. Went on a local FB page to ask for advice/names, and SSM came highly recommended. I called them on a Sunday and got an actual human in the office! (The other company has an AI assistant who sounds real. It's creepy.) Bruno from SSM came today, did a lot of diagnostic work, and figured out that the problem was electrical. We were charged just $232.50. Bruno took the time to explain things to us, and didn't try to sell us things. The only good thing to come out of this frigid situation is finding South Shore Mechanical. Thank you so much for your kindness and integrity! Don't ever change! Will definitely do business with them again.

Contractors and Homeowners Beware -- Extremely Concerning Experience…read moreOur company, was hired to perform electrical work on a project involving South Shore Mechanical and its owner, William Holley. During the project, they installed incorrect RTUs, creating a significant issue that needed to be corrected. We were subsequently asked to perform the electrical work necessary to help correct the situation. We completed the requested work, supplied the necessary labor and materials, and did our part to get the project back on track. The result? William Holley / South Shore Mechanical has refused to pay our outstanding invoice for the work we performed. As a fellow contractor and business owner, I find this completely unacceptable. I wouldn't trust this company to pour water out of a boot even if you told them the instructions were on the heel. We have made multiple attempts to resolve the outstanding balance directly with William Holley before reaching this point. Unfortunately, despite the work being completed, we are still left with an unpaid invoice. Based on our company's experience, I cannot recommend South Shore Mechanical or William Holley to homeowners, contractors, or businesses considering working with them. Running a construction project is difficult enough without having to spend months chasing another contractor for payment for work they requested and received. We would have much preferred to resolve this privately and professionally.
