After walking through the front and you'll find various vendors selling hand crafted items like necklaces, clothes, hats, leather goods, chain mill, and everything your heart desires. You'll smell delicious foods...many people come for the Turkey Legs and Ale! I also have to give a shout out to Ye'Old 7-11! Best Renaissance convenient store around. Here you'll find dragon jerky, troll jerky, canned and bottled drinks, as well as welsh cakes! Now, let's talk about the incredible talent!! From jousting, sword fighting, stage shows and so much more. The people that work here are beyond talented and it's very inspiring. Lastly, everyone who shows up at the festival doesn't miss the memo and came up with some beautiful costumes! I absolutely love the creativity! I can't wait until the next one! Hazzah!

From the outside you don't necessarily know what you are getting into. There are some creepy…read moredisplays and flame throwers over the entrance, but once you enter the atrium, it definitely has a creepy yet welcoming vibe. Once you enter the maze however the welcoming portion is gone, and you feel the tension of the experience you've just entered. The Zombie actors are super scary looking and do a good job of stalking the survival participants and making it feel like it is a real life survival scenario. While inside it does not feel like a typical haunted maze like you would find at most theme parks. You go in as a group of your own party not mixed with strangers which is cool. There are others in the maze often times while your group is in there but that adds to the fear factor as you see them screaming as they try to escape as well. (sometimes this leads a zombie right to you, and if they notice you they may direct their attention to you instead). Beware of where you came from and where you are going as you may run into zombie's who you escaped prior in the experience. Just because you passed a zombie earlier in your way through doesn't mean they aren't still hungry to take your lives This is a whole different experience as the actors are also tasked with taking your lives (3 flag football flags on a belt). So not only are they scary as they jump out from all over the place, but they are actually coming for you because you have something they need. With hidden extra lives and other goodies hidden throughout the maze this becomes a strategy game as much as a haunted maze. There is not one way to escape as there are multiple routes you can choose, some good, some lead you right back into the zombies you thought you were escaping. The total experience was heart pounding and exhilarating. Definitely a must try if you're into getting scared and want something different from the Scary Farm or Horror Nights type maze. ALSO WHEN YOU FINISH THE MAZE ITS REALLY ENTERTAINING TO WATCH THE LIVE FOOTAGE OF OTHERS IN THE MAZE. I COULD HAVE WATCHED THAT FOOTAGE FOR HOURS

FINALLY had the chance to visit the Jurupa Mountains Discover Center! I always see the iconic…read moremammoth statue passing by on the freeway and finally got to visit. His name is Eddy and he's a Columbian mammoth. Crazy cool that it's a life sized replica too. At the entrance, you pay for parking and it's $10. PRO-TIP: If you spend $40 at the gift shop, the $10 counts towards it and altogether it's actually only $30, which is great if you're buying a lot of goods there to support OR if you're a fossil and/or gem/mineral enthusiast since they have a LOT of that there, which is pretty neat. There's 2 places you can park. One near the garden nursery where you can purchase plants or near the main parking where the gift shop is. The Critter Corner is in the gift shop where you can see lots of herps and aquatic critters as well. The volunteers are super informative and can answer all your questions about the critters they have there. Love that they have name tags and info about where they're from and information about the species. Love the monkey skink, emerald tree skinks, Argentinian tegu, and of course, the beardies. Gift shop also has a great variety of affordable gifts ranging from toys, to small knick-knacks, decor, gem stones and minerals of all varieties and displays (loose, as earrings or necklaces, carved, etc.), locally sourced honey, actual fossils (there's a section where you're not allowed if you're under 16 without a parent or guardian), books, stickers, and much much more. While we were there, there was also a fun little S.T.E.A.M. corner where you can work on artwork you can take home or on some days I think there's science activities there too. The mural on the walls are also quite impressive too. Great for photos and a nice personal touch. I recommend getting the $1 grab bag! Kids love gacha/blind boxes nowadays and mine had 2 small fossils, a sticker, and 2 mineral stones. Pretty nice and super affordable. There's a trail that goes through a cactus garden with lots of dinosaur sculptures, done by the local boy scouts which is pretty neat. It's $9 if you would like to go rock collecting. You get to meet all the dinos during this expedition as well. It's 12 rocks, minerals, or fossils which isn't bad. They also have guided tours that start at the gift shop, but my boyfriend and I were just there to free roam, which can kill a couple hours too depending on how in depth you are in reading and looking at everything. They also have a separate Museum of Discovery with lots of fossil specimens and models ranging from dinosaurs, prehistoric creatures (aquatic, mammals, reptiles, etc.), indigenous/Native American artifacts and artwork (local artwork too), minerals and other geological structures. There's taxidermy on the wall too. Lots to look at. Will definitely come back in the future. Super affordable way to learn and spend some time.

I finally remembered on a Saturday and took my sons (6, 3, and 1) to the museum. We live in Corona /borderline Riverside so it's local to us. Great way to inspire your kids about attending a university by allowing them to explore a wonderful campus filled with trees. Awe also enjoyed the Art building very cool how everything ties in together. Staff is knowledgeable and welcoming.

Inoculated with healthy doses of intellectualism, academics, and music, this festival is indeed a…read moredelight! Yes, there is even the small parade of Her Majesty, Queen Victoria and her court. The parade includes fine gentlemen and ladies, a chimney sweep, a properly-kilted Scotsman playing his bagpipes, and another Scotsman that has to be at least 10 feet tall. Too bad they only do it one weekend each year. You will discover well-delivered lectures by 19th Century impersonators of notable people (such as Dickens, Van Gough, Emily Dickens for starters), imaginatively anachronistic storytellers (you cannot miss the zany Professor Peanut!), poetry lovers, and a wonderful collection of musicians. The Promenade in downtown Riverside, once known as Main St., is actually no longer a street at all. Instead, you will find a broad, public walkway lined with small and medium sized storefronts, graceful shade trees, benches to stop and breathe a spell, special water features, sculptures, and entertainment. The eye-catching historic Mission Inn, a glorious testament to old California architecture, is located about a block down from this delightful activity. This is all part of a permanent Downtown City of Riverside transformation. But during the festival, the walkway is infused with food vendors and retail booths, street entertainers, and strategically positioned stages scheduled with well-organized programs, so there is never a dull moment. Very ADA compliant, you will find little something for everyone...even friendly vibes if you wish to bring the family dog. For the kids (of the human variety), there was a goat petting tent. But later, we saw their appropriately 19th Century-garbed caretakers rambling down the promenade, mingling with the crowds. There are an eclectic list of street musicians to amuse, a Punch and Judy puppet theater to captivate your inner-child, and other regularly scheduled events (indoors and out, some free, some requiring tickets). The point is, slow down, allow yourself to be distracted, and absorb the full experience. Don't feel intimidated that this is only for the artsy types; costumes are fun but not necessary to have delightful memories. So, whatever your preference, come one, come all. Best of all, with the exception of having to pay for parking (in one of several large parking structures nearby), there is no entrance fee. The festival is active during daylight hours only.

Lots of Handmade creepy things. 10 mini haunted rooms, a haunted hayride, carnival rides and food vendors. A great way to spend the day in May preparing for the funnest holiday of the year.
