After removing my cataracts and inserting the lenses (left eye) April 13 and (right eye) on May 11, 2022. On June 20th., I met with Dr. F. Bastianelli and was told that I had PCO (posterior capsule opacity) with both eyes. (Cells remaining after cataract surgery grow over the back of the lens causing it to thicken and become slightly cloudy. Light is less able to travel through to the retina at the back of the eye.) And Dr. Bastianelli mentioned that it needed to be taken care asap because my sight would return to what it was before removing the cataracts. You would use laser to restore my vision by creating a hole or an optical path through the lens capsule. And he had mentioned somewhere around mid July. July, August, September went by. I kept calling to try to reach Dr. Bastianelli's office but, his mail box is always full I was never able to leave a message. Today is October 13. this is 6 months for my left eye and 5 months for my right one and I'm still waiting for a date and according to our meeting on June 20th., it was an emergency. As a patient, I was respected and once everything was done and paid for, I became a simple customer. This is a lack of respect and no one deserve to be ignored. Waited 8 months to be able to be seen by a specialist/ophthalmologist Finally got an appointment and he gave me drops to put in my eye for 2 weeks and i was to call back if the medication did not work. The medication did not worked and I have been trying to reach his office for over a week now and they do not answer their phone or return your call. I'm very disappointed and still have the same issue block ducts, eye is leaking constantly. Went to Queensway emergency and they cannot help me because i need to see an ophthalmologist. Do not recommend this Focus Eye Centre. read more

1 week follow-up from procedure done last Thursday, my corrective procedures dates back to 2005 - this is a touch up on my far away eye. Procedure went very well - the follow up visit today not so much! Not sure what exactly went wrong but the physician came across as having a chip on her shoulder and started off by telling me I did not follow the correct procedures for the drops and it went done hill from there to the point where I clearly asked to see another staff. I will not deal with her in the future as I now have various more appointments set up and I really think she needs an attitude adjustment. Who pissed in her cornflakes this morning, I sure didn't. I had my Laser Eye Surgery done back in August 2016 and it was a fantastic experience. They explained everything at the pre-op, never made me feel like I have to commit or pay a certain way (other institute are adamant you take their credit card payment plan!). Day of surgery I was so nervous but the staff was awesome! calmed me down and had an answer to every question I asked (oh and I asked alot! lol ). The surgeon walked me through the procedure as he was performing it, yes it was uncomfortable and scary at times but hey worth it when you end up with a clear vision! I highly recommend them to anyone seeking eye surgery, a free consultation and you'll be hooked! thank you to all the staff for everything they've done/helped me with! My only minor thing would be if they had more flexiblity in their schedule, it's hard sometimes to do a follow up appointment between 8-5 M-F and miss so many days off work (Maybe include a saturday 8-1 on the schedule?)..but again just a minor change that can go a long way! read more

I have had issues over the last two years since my surgery. My distance eye ended up being under corrected. They can't go back to fix it because I have such dry eyes now! I'm on a prescription twice a day now to try to reduce the inflammation. My eyes are often very bothersome. I don't feel like focus eye centre was concerned about this after and they CERTAINLY didn't ask me to fill out a review for their waiting office binder. I WOULD NOT have done it had I known I would have these side effects (but I guess I took the risk so I'm ultimately to blame!) read more

I had Intralase SBK Procedure w/Wavefront LVC performed here earlier this week. My eye condition was nearsightedness (over -5 in one eye), plus astigmatism. I was referred by my optometrist to Focus. I ended moved my surgery date up by about a week & a half and the staff were super flexible in scheduling in all of my pre-operative appointments. They performed an entire eye exam, and then spoke with me about which type of procedure would best suit my eye condition. Based on my age, and condition of my eyes, I was told to go with the Wavefront SBK (which is the most expensive of all the options offered, I believe). The thing I liked about Focus was their 'flat price' pricing. Other places will offer lower prices, but increase them based on your eye condition. Focus simply charges one price across the board. A small bonus is that they offer discounts if you were referred by someone who's had it done. They readily gave me a second receipt for insurance purposes. The day of the surgery was well managed. They went over my post-operative care and had me make my final payment, prior to administering a relaxing med. From there, I sat and waited for the medication to take, prior to being moved to the laser suite. The nurses were fantastic and explained everything. One of the two nurses had had laser done herself, which was nice. As the procedure went on, they narrated everything that was happening and kept giving status updates. Immediately after, I was able to see, albeit with some fog (which is normal). I rested in an exam room for about 20 minutes before Dr. Edmunston came in to check out how my eyes looked. I went back the next day for my 24 hour follow up, and was told I was healing well. From there, you can continue to go to Focus for your eye exams, and go back to your regular doctor. They offer a lifetime guarantee so long as you keep up the appointments throughout the first year, and then go once a year for eye exams (as you normally would). My only slightly annoying comment is that the only available parking there is a tiny Impark lot. For an hour and a half, they charge $6, so keep that in mind. They take cash, credit & debit though. read more

Trusting the doctors at Focus Eye Centre is the biggest mistake I have made in 60 years. Before surgery I did not need glasses to fly my plane, drive my car or read. Now my plane is for sale because my vision has been ruined! They gambled with my vision & I lost! Don't make the same mistake I did! read more
