In Kingston I had an exam done Dec 14th and purchased glasses the same day. It is now Jan 26th I have no glasses !! I have been told several excuses from its the lab's fault it's the courier's fault. Well today I find out their lab has not even began work on my glasses. I have emailed head office I have called head office and had no response. At this point I am calling this theft. This is supposed to be preventative to save my sight. I had a bit of trouble which is why I booked the appointment, now I am getting headaches and my vision seems blurry. Went into Laurier optical looking for a coloured contacts prescription also it has a natural eyecolor is the worst experience that I think I've ever had to date. I was at the Rideau Centre location waited for over 40 minutes to even simply being knowledge another 20 minutes is to get service and when services rendered absolutely useless. I mean feeling I got while I was in with their store and as I left the store was that I was just seeing you since even though I had thousand dollars of dollars to invest I will never invest in this company store again read more

A business that isn't willing to assist with outside frames, even if you might have previously been a customer. In my case today: Loose screw on frame. Optician (or door staff) didn't even offer to tighten it for a fee. Instead, I was immediately told to go over to Lens Crafters in the mall. .. Well.. Armed with a new optical prescription in my knapsack (30 days old) and store did not want me to investigate their frames, or discussing deals while tightening a screw. No problem.. If I could rate 0/5 I would. Brought in a $500 pair of sunglasses and they broke them, tried to claim "manufacturer defect" but it had clearly been broken as they were not like that when I brought them in and they visably snapped the frame while trying to remove the lenses. I had to replace them and then the store refused to give me a refund for my prescription. After all of this I said I would take my lenses once they come in and frames elsewhere and just pay someone who knows how to do their job properly. They promised my lenses would be in by Wednesday (as they made my prescription originally and then the factory threw them away because they didn't contact them to pick them up because they had already broken my glasses) and it is currently Sunday making it over three weeks since I originally trusted them with my glasses and they have not received them or contacted me to rectify this at all. I now have to leave the country for the next month and this has been a major hindrance and loss of $400 as I will not be using their lenses, services, "store credit" or company ever again. Do not trust this store with your glasses. read more

I had my two year exam today I have just learned that in addition to (1) being measured for my Laurier glasses while standing; (2) being handed my purchased glasses without being fitted and having to request a fitting in April; (3) reporting that the blue glasses that I purchased turned black (wrote to them about it and they never responded) (4) I have JUST learned that the prescription in the glasses I purchased from Laurier were not the proper prescription. I am just shocked by the service I received. I arrived at the Bank and Huntclub rd location and I could tell right away by the woman's body language that she was not willing to help. I bought several pairs of glasses and needed them adjusted and right away she said they don't do repairs. This location is under new ownership so they are obviously not helpful at all. The last owners were so much better it doesn't even compare. Will never every come back and would not recommend. I am actually angry, the woman made me stand while I took our my glasses pair by pair, so I asked there is a place I could lay out the glasses to discuss the details of the repair. I plan to call them to see if they do free eye exams. Many places charge 80 now but there is not suppose to be a charge if you are on social assistance or odsp. They pretend it was always this way to people born here! no it wasn't!! I was booked for a place in Kanata but it takes 2 hrs out of my day to get there and back. I would just like to advise you we are all being ripped off by eyeglass stores in Canada. A pair of glasses should not cost 500 dollars then if you get a pair and the arm falls off, they will say it cant be fixed! Funny my parents went to the same stores. Went in twice because my new 300$ glasses were noy fitting well and kept falling off my face. Nothing was ever done except a little ajusting which did not fix the problem. I was told that they are plastic and even when I suggestes that my warantee should cover more effort in terms of adjustment I was shot down. I should have pushed more I guess. The person involved said it was due to weather changes and humidity that the glasses warped.. now coming home to BC my old eye clinic just fixed the problem for free. read more

Worst customer experience in my life. I paid 600$ for glasses they could not get the supplier to deliver. After 6 weeks of getting told to call back or come back later every time i asked about my order, they offered me an alternative pair of glasses which were cheaper and now they refuse to refund me the 140$ they owe me saying I need to spend more money and buy another pair of glasses. Absolute worst service I've ever experienced in my life. I was just going in to check which style of lenses that I wanted, and which would suit my face shape the best. Unfortunately, I was met with many suspicious looks when I had told the staff (particularly a short, old man with glasses) that I was just browsing the styles. He then proceeds to stare at me confused. I reiterated that I was debating between two different styles online, on their website, and that I just wanted to double check the fit before my purchase. He then told me that this "wouldn't work" and didn't explain what he meant. When I asked him what he meant, he then proceeded to say "ok... ok..." and walked away. And to top this off, I heard him gossiping under his breath to another female coworker about what I had just told him. With this COMPLETE unprofessionalism, I couldn't even proceed to look for the glasses that I wanted as I felt EXTREMELY uncomfortable, and just left with my feelings of confusion, and being looked down upon. Needless to say, I'm just not going to get my glasses from this place whatsoever and will not support them with my money. read more

Had an eye exam at the same location and used to buy my eyeglasses and contacts at this same store for the past 10+ years. After my eye exam I went to ask about contact lenses and was told if I did not like Accuvue I could just look at the book they had with price list... Absolutely no help in deciding what would be best for me. When asked what brand I used was told they are no longer being made and told if I did buy them to get them from the same place (wow how helpful). I then asked if there was a way to obtain samples and if there was a fitting fee as I had not bought contacts there in a couple years and was told they do not have samples and if I wanted some to just buy the contacts. So apparently they no longer do fittings at this location and you can only order contacts now. Also, I was interested in buying a new pair of eyeglasses and all the salesperson there (guy with glasses at the desk) did was hand me a coupon that said there is a discount when you get a eye exam. At no time was any effort made to try and look up my customer info in their computer. As well, my eye exam was not so great. Was told that an issue with my eyelid "was cosmetic" even after I told the optometrist (Dr. Zhang) that it was considered a functional issue and covered under OHIP (as my 2 previous eye surgeries were paid by OHIP before). So to have a Dr completely miss this is just not good. ------------------ One more "issue" to take note of is that when the Rideau Store went from paper files to a computerized system that over half of their client info was lost and the store/company did not keep any record of the paper files before checking this and realizing a lot of their client info was missing. I found this out when I went to get a minor repair on a pair of eyeglasses and was told they could not find my info and so was not a client of their store. While, I had bought at least 6 pairs sunglasses and 5 prescription eyeglasses at this location alone. Plus years of ordering my contact lenses from the Rideau store, as well. I do not like leaving overly negative reviews and did try to give this store quite a few extra chances to be better and even wondered why I kept on trying when this store does not seem to give respect to most customers. If you do get contact lenses at this store, all the staff will try and push- no shove Accuvue brand down your throat...or well into your eyes more likely. There is always a extra rebate for the Accuvue brand if you order them and the store prob makes more money on those I guess. I used to buy another brand and some colored contacts (Freshlook) and the store staff went as far as telling me they ordered my colored lenses and would call to tell me they were in and I go to the store only to see they ordered a year supply of Accuvue and are trying to get me to buy it (even when those lenses keep falling out of my eyes and do not work for me). This happened to me 3 times at the Rideau store and made me buy my contacts at another store instead. read more

A few years ago I went to laurier optical for my first pair of graduated lenses The advice I received led to unsuitable glasses. Very heavy. The next pair never did fit . I went back twice and waited around for ages while they fiddled around with them and they told me to come back because an other expert who was never there would have to do it. I finally gave up trying to get satisfaction. Stupid me I went back for a third pair. The manager was totally uninterested in the fact that I had bad service in past. New owners he said. So I decided to give them another chance. My new glasses took over two weeks and when they did come it was not the ones I ordered. I had to wait another two weeks even though the manager assured me he had put a rush on it. He promised to do something about it but when I arrived to pick up my glasses he was no where to be seen. That was only 7 months ago. Today the lens fell out. The frame is broken. Ask me if I will give them a other chance. read more

The single worst company I've dealt with this year, returned two pairs of glasses for a refund that was promised in the beginning of January... For the past 6 weeks all I've been getting is The cheques is in the mail, we don't know how to do a refund on visa, ect.... Had to file a dispute with visa. The staff at the Rideau Centre location needs a refresher course in customer service. They are rude and unhelpful when asked to do anything beyond selling. Even selling, they are reluctant to unlock the glasses for trying on (every pair is locked), mock your preferences, and push styles that don't suit you. If you show even a remote interest in a pair of frames, the pressure starts for you to put down a deposit, and you should be aware that a sign posted on the wall states that deposits are non-refundable. I took in a pair of glasses that were slipping down the nose to be adjusted. What they needed was a tightening of the arm tension, but all the "optician" could come up with to do was "crank the arms around the ears". Needless to say, I did not allow him to do that and left. On other occasions, the staff promised to call back and didn't; promised to contact head office but didn't; promised to look for another colour but didn't. Will never set foot in there again. This is in direct contrast to the Carlingwood location where the staff was helpful, the glasses weren't locked up, and customers were free to try glasses on without unwanted interference. read more

I had the worst experience at Laurier Optical Rideau. After ordering contacts, I was told it would take 5 business days. After waiting over a week, I called, they weren't in yet. A week later, I followed up- still not in. A month later, still not in yet- I asked for them to look into it and they said they would call me back. A couple days later, no call back. Called again to follow-up, they are on back order. I needed contacts as I was leaving the country in a couple of days. I called and explained my situation and the woman on the phone said do not worry, come in and we will give you samples of your contacts. Go to the store, they don't have my samples and don't even offer to get the contacts from a sister store. They then say I need to wait for the manager. She wasn't in until 1 pm the next day. So once again, I come into the store the next day. The manager then makes me sit while she waits on the phone with the contact company (why did I need to sit there and waste my time?) She then gets off the phone and says no problem, I will order your proper samples for you. I then say: will they be here in the next few days? She responds: no way, they will take a week. I then have to re-inform here I am leaving the county in a few days. She basically tells me she cannot help me in any way. I then suggest they call another store and see if they have samples for me. She does that, and I personally have to go to another store across the city to pick up contacts that are not my normal prescription and are not the proper type for me. I then ask her for a refund on my contacts and to cancel the order. Apparently they don't do refunds. I then explained that I do not want a store credit, and after all my time wasted, I will no longer do business with Laurier Optical and would like a refund. She told me she would see what she can do about that. Flash forward to present day, three weeks later. I have yet to get a refund, or my contacts, or a call from the Manager informing me of the situation. DO NOT GO HERE. They will do nothing but waste your time and tell you to "deal with" wanting to scratch out your eyes because you don't have proper contacts and strain your eyes because they aren't the proper prescription. read more

Simply put the manager is the most condescending, unprofessional individual I have ever had the bad luck to deal with! I went in with what was an actual defect in my bifocal lens on both sides which was identified by a tech working there. The manager was more concerned with the time since purchase ( under a year by the way) than the defect. I was treated very rudely and seemed to be taking up her valuable time in the empty store. I was told I would get called back after she spoke to the Lab about my glasses, however, I had to call back the following week only to be told no they would not cover the repair in the defect unless I would like to pay for the repair also the simple fact that when I called the store they had no record of my being there and there was no followup on my complaint at all, had I not called the store I would never have heard from them at all. I said no thank you I will not pay for a defect that's not my fault, so I declined the offer and told the manager I would take my business else were. I hung up, but received a call not two minutes later offering to do the repair for free, she said the head office had approved the repair. I still declined the offer as I will not be treated like this nor should any business feel they can treat a customer in this manner. read more
