My previous go-to mechanic tripped me with a quote of $575 for the valve gasket cover replacement (I assumed they meant the entire thing, not the rubber seal). So I went to this place due to reasonable prices. Their labor prices are also more competitive. The only downsize is that they don't do appointment. Otherwise; so far so good.

I honestly wanted to gatekeep this place, but JIN deserves all the business and recognition. He's trustworthy, knowledgeable, and someone I feel completely comfortable bringing my car to. Whether it's an oil change, brakes, or other maintenance, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. Just keep in mind that he runs the shop on his own, so I highly recommend calling ahead, explaining what you need, and making an appointment. Trust me, it's worth it. If you're looking for a reliable mechanic you can actually trust, definitely give JIN a call. Highly recommend!

Am waiting to get my oil change (normally no wait when I get there at opening 8am but forgot today…read moreand didn't get there until 9am on a Monday). I love that Tom doesn't try to upsell me. He starts the car and says I don't need to get an oil change because the light didn't come on yet. I corrected him and said no, telling him the "maintenance required soon" light shows up. i said that as he saw that onscreen and said oh okay then! (I also write down the miles to know). Regardless it's nice he doesn't just do things to charge. Also nice he remembers who I am. Last year I came for an oil change 6 months after my smog check and the first thing he said was, "you were just here for a smog check right?" He sees people all day and remembered what he did on my car the first minute of talking to me when I got there I thought that was pretty funny. Today he began with "hello con gái đẹp" which just cracks me up (you, sir, get 5 stars for the chipper Monday attitude) Overall quick, good service at a reasonable price point that cannot be beat.

So I looked up smog places on Yelp and this location popped up closest to where I was. I called this shop up, spoke to a very nice and caring lady. She was very thorough and thoughtful, she looked up the vehicle's past smog history to make sure it'll pass so as to not waste my money if it had prior failures. Everything checked out with the smog history, she told me to swing by and they can do it in less than 10 minutes. Looks like a small mom and pop repair/smog shop. They hooked my vehicle up ran the test and I was out of there in 10 minutes. I love that they were kind, honest, and went out of their way to help me and provide me with useful information. She honestly was very motherly, it's hard to find truthful and honest repair places these days. Depending on the year and vehicle type is how they determine the cost of the test. The price on my vehicle was unbeatable because I had called several locations close to the area and this shop came out on top! I'm definitely going to come here for all my smog checks! I highly recommend this place!

I paid Jesse $120 toward motorcycle service, and apparently accepting payment was the only part of…read morethe job he was interested in completing. I had ordered a part and was waiting for it to arrive, so about a month passed. During that entire time, Jesse never contacted me to ask whether the part had arrived or to follow up on the work I had already paid him to do. I eventually had to reach out to him myself. Over the following three weeks, I sent multiple text messages and called several times, all of which were ignored. After getting nowhere, I called from a different number--and suddenly Jesse answered. His excuse was that he had been "busy." I asked him to send me my money back and he hung up and blocked my number. In total, nearly two months passed after he took my money with no communication, no follow-up, and no attempt to complete the service. Being busy may explain a delayed response. It does not explain ignoring a paying customer for over two months while continuing to keep their money. That is not poor time management; it is poor business practice. There was an $80 diagnostic fee, so technically I am only out $40. Financially, it is not a huge loss. Professionally, however, it says everything I need to know about this business. A reputable business does not take payment, fail to complete the agreed-upon service, ignore every attempt at communication, and then offer excuses only after being reached from a number it does not recognize. The motorcycle needed a diagnosis, but the bigger problem turned out to be the business itself: unreliable, unresponsive, and completely lacking in accountability. I would not trust Jesse with my motorcycle again, and I certainly would not recommend paying him anything upfront.

Jesse is the reason my cat is alive…read more Last weekend, during the Garden Grove toxic chemical evacuation, my tuxedo cat decided that the undercarriage of my cousin's Tesla Model Y was a great hiding spot. It was not. He was wedged in there for 12 hours with no food, no water, and zero litter box access. He was absolutely losing it. I ran through every option. Fire department? Busy with the actual chemical explosion rattling all of OC, fair. Animal control? Ghosted me. My cousin, currently out of the country, tried Tesla Roadside Assistance through the app. Tesla's answer: their technicians are not trained to rescue animals. Noted, but deeply unhelpful in the moment. Two other mechanics passed too. Jesse was my third Yelp attempt and my last real option. He showed up within two hours, no fuss, and got straight to work. He tried everything - the frunk, underneath, removing the right wheel - methodically working different angles for an hour and a half because my cat had chosen the most inconvenient possible position to be chonky in. Jesse stayed patient the entire time and got him out safely. My cat is home. He is fine. He is completely unbothered, as cats are. Jesse showed up when nobody else could. That is not something I will forget. Oh, and his prices are insanely reasonable. If you need a mechanic who will actually show up and problem-solve, Jesse is your guy.

I was scammed out of $473…read more On March 13, 2026, I took my car to Sunrise Automotive to get my check engine light fixed so I could pass my inspection. They charged me over $473 and claimed the issue was repaired. The very next day, the check engine light came back on. I returned my car more than five times because they told me the repair came with a 1-year warranty. Every single visit, I waited over 7 hours, only for them to clear the check engine light, tell me it was fixed, and send me on my way. As soon as I drove off, the check engine light came right back on. Today, I took it back again, and instead of honoring their warranty, they told me I now need to pay for additional repairs. I paid over $473, wasted more than 35 hours sitting in their shop, and my original problem still isn't fixed. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Sunrise Automotive. If you choose to do business with them, do so at your own risk. You have been warned.
