    Can't beat €6 for a bowl of pasta! Tomato sauce was good, not too sweet but my pasta was a little overcooked

    Eating at Mercato Centrale overall is quite nice, but I look at it from "the whole is the sum of its parts" perspective. Pasta Fresca is one of the vendors of Mercato Centrale's 2nd floor. It specializes in different types of pasta. From my visit they offered five varieties of pasta in different sauces from €7 to €13. Ideally it makes for a good primi, but as a solo traveler I've been turning pasta into my main meal with a side dish of vegetables. As I had a filling pasta for lunch and I didn't want to indulge too much watching the World Cup I just got myself their fusili in pesto (fusilli in Genovese pesto; basil sauce with potatoes and green beans, €10.) I have a general idea of the typical pasta dishes in Tuscany and surrounding areas but I already had Bolognese ragu and wild boar pasta twice in Florence and I wanted to try something different. The result is a bland fusili and it makes for a good primi to a more flavorful protein-heavy secondi but by itself it was ok. Washing it with a Birra Moretti helped a little bit.

    Quality fast food pasta made to order right in front of you! Food/Drink: This stand makes ordering pasta super easy by having the different type of pastas in front of you as well as the sauce so all you have to do is just pick and choose! I got the fettucini with boar sauce while my partner got the chef recommended gnocchi with pesto. Both were incredibly delicious and piping hot since they make it right in front of you. Price: For only 5 euros a plate, this place is a must go for cheap and filling pasta! Atmosphere: Located inside the Mercato Centrale, this is merely a stand with no indoor sitting area but counter tables along the walls for you to stand and eat as you watch talented chefs make your order right in front of you. However, if you take your plate of pasta upstairs to the other stands with restaurants, there are plenty of communal tables to share. Tips: Get the chef recommendation!

    Best pasta I've had in Florence. This is a fast food type place but the food is 5 star quality. For $5 euro you pick your pasta and sauce and they cook it fresh. All the pasta is hand made and then cooked to perfection. Drenched is sauce..... wow. I had the pesto sauce and it was lick the plate good. There's a long line but the chef cooks really fast and super friendly. We waited about 15 minutes from ordering to pick up. The line was all the way to the end of the shop.

    This pasta is literally the best I've ever had. It's just a little stand in the Florence market, but it's made fresh, and the sauces are SO good. You have to wait in line and then wait a while for your pasta, but it's worth it! Pro-tip: you can get a cup of wine from the stall across the way for €2 while you wait, and/or to have with your pasta!

    A great place to pick up an early dinner for a working vacation. Lots of other shops nearby to complete a meal.

When we arrived we thought they were closed, but that is because they moved to a bigger restaurant a few doors down. When we arrived at the front, the gentleman asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. He directed us to the line with no reservations. The line was a bit long, but doubled in size almost immediately. It also started pouring rain during this time and we were ALL getting drenched even with an umbrella. The non reservation line was not really moving unless people left the line. We waited a good hour. As we inched closer and closer, the lines were now both outrageous and getting seated seemed like a distant memory. The staff came out and gave out Sangria and Bread bites to help those in line feel welcome. We did finally get seated and we were so glad we waited, it was worth it! We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara, the lobster spaghettini and the chicken breast with roasted potatoes. We also ordered sangria. Everything was so good and our total was 83 €. Prices were unbelievable! We were amazed at the quality, the service and how large the restaurant they relocated to was. It was like a well oiled machine. The food coming out quickly and efficiently. I will 100% be back if I return to Florence!

We also ordered 2 pasta dishes - wild boar sauce pappardelle and spaghetti alla carbonara. So tasty and with depth of flavors. Paired well with the house white wine we ordered as well. Definitely a spot you don't want to miss when in Florence.

Everyone lines up outside, and once the doors open, the entire restaurant is seated at the same time. It's unusual, but somehow fun -- like the curtain lifting on dinner. We were greeted with a welcome drink, which set the tone perfectly before the main event: the famous cheese-wheel pasta. They prepared it right in front of me, swirling the hot pasta through a giant wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano until it turned silky and glossy. Then came the fresh truffle -- and I mean fresh. Easily the most fragrant, delicate truffle I've ever had in my life. Absolute heaven. For dessert, their tiramisu wasn't the classic layered version; it was more of a deconstructed, airy éclair-style creation that still delivered all the right flavors. We finished with limoncello, a bright little goodbye that wrapped the whole experience in a perfect bow. Yes, Osteria Pastella is a bit of a tourist vibe -- but the food does not miss. We had our hotel call for us when we checked in and were lucky to grab a 1:30 lunch slot on a Thursday afternoon. We saw the fat physical reservation book when we went, and also saw an attempted walk-in get turned away. We wanted to go for dinner, but I'm just glad we were able to get in at all. Vini e Vecchi Sapori was easily my favorite restaurant in Florence. I loved the cozy, vibrant dining room, snug and eclectically decorated. We were at a table so tiny, I worried about pulling a muscle when I crossed my legs. It was nestled amongst other tiny tables, and abutted a counter where plates were put out for service and the reservation book set down in its glory next to my husband's head. Service was warm, efficient, and attentive. Our waiter basically told what to order and we obeyed him, with excellent results. The one-page handwritten menu, helpfully available in English, presented the day's offerings and this preemptive list of disclaimers: No Pizza No Cappuccino No The Fork No Ice No Spritz No Ketchup FUCK CANCER There was a brief selection of Italian wines by the glass, and we got the Chianti Classico and the Bruno de Montalcino, both lovely. The food was delicious, starting with good bread and good olive oil. I plan to come back to Florence one day, and will make a point of coming back to Vini e Vecchi Sapori. It's a special restaurant, the kind you hope to find in Italy, a welcoming place with lively ambiance and wonderful food.
