Being a first time homeowner is not easy. From landing the house and finding things to improve over…read moretime, my wife and I knew the backyard would be a very important space for our family, especially our younger kids. When we first moved in, the backyard was all cement, the grass was dead, it had mulch/tanbark everywhere, and the pavers were mismatched. While we had a temporary "fix" by removing the grass and installing turf, we knew we needed to go big. I went through countless hours of research, hesitation, and uncertainty for whatever reason, but I finally settled on a name that, after extensive research, felt like they would be the right fit for us. Enter Black Diamond! Stephanie Driscoll was our project manager and designer and Raul was the head of the crew that took on the job of totally revamping the entire backyard and the side yards. Stephanie was very easy to work with and loved the design that was initially proposed. Instead of trying to essentially price the job with higher quality materials or trying to add more where it wasn't needed, we were able to balance paver amount/variation for the pathways and borders so that it made sense both in design and budget. Needless to say, 4 months on, we are still very happy with how it turned out and how everything was done. We started the consultation/design process and contracting in December 2025 and broke ground in March 2026. Stephanie was patient in waiting for other projects to be completed since I also had to replace a roof, install new gutters, and repaint the whole house. By April 2026, the entire backyard looked as designed and blew my family away! Our friend and family complimented on how well everything was done and what a transformation it was. We actually enjoy the backyard a lot more now and so do our children. The pavers have held up very well thus far and most of all, it's safe for anyone to walk on. No sharp edges on the step-down that was installed, no tripping hazards, and no danger of water sitting and pooling in any one area. The rocks along the pathways complement the pavers and do well to keep costs low in the side yard as no one really hangs out on the sides anyway. Of three designs we received, Frances Krebs was the most professional, creative and detail oriented. Her design fulfilled our vision and the execution by her crew led by Ismael and Raul, made our dream come true. Frances (Black Diamond) was the only one of the three companies from which we received designs who was able to build 25 paver stairs and a walkway up the sand dune and create a platform for our view of the golf course and Monterey Bay. Frances and her crew were always punctual, responsible, skillful, considerate and professional. They were able to accomplish all we asked for. Black Diamond, with Frances as the designer and project manager, was definitely the right choice.

Asked Oscar to repair a small retaining wall next to the driveway that had a short bulging section…read morecaused by tree roots. In addition, fix the broken concrete at the driveway curb. The fix for the wall was to dig out the soil next to the bowed section, cut back the roots and push the section back into alignment with the rest of the wall, then backfill the dirt. This was in lieu of rebuilding the wall section using new but mismatching cinder blocks. The curb fix involved breaking out the old concrete and replacing with two large rubber curb ramps. The final result ended up very good as can be seen in the photos. There were some snags along the way so this should be a 4.5 star review. Any customer should work closely with Oscar and any hired subcontractor and be present on site or check frequently while the work is being done.

Arturo wrote our plans and took care of getting all our plans submitted and approved by the city. They have a wide variety of services they and they seem to be expert in all that they did for us. We couldn't be happier with the work and services he provided. Arturo is talented as his father and big crew of professionals that work for him. These were fairly big projects but Arturo will do smaller jobs as well if needed. Acc did everything they said they would and stayed within the budget that was proposed and it was done on time. They also did a complete bathroom remodel and kitchen remodel in our own home. You name it, they can do it, plans, concrete, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and anything general construction. They originally installed the drainage PVC pipe way too high and piled the dirt to high up on the side of the wall so moisture and water was leaking into the house causing wood floors to buckle. This disaster occured during this past 2022-2023 historic rainy season. Aguilar's Landscaping came in and gave me a very competitive bid and did the job superbly. Of the three, Carlos was the ONLY one who kept his appointment and returned a bid quickly. After receiving his bid, we pondered the idea of a pool renovation instead of demo. Carlos had followed up with us and inquiring if we wanted to move forward with the demo. I had mentioned to Carlos we were now entertaining the idea of a renovation. He was understanding and asked us to contact him if we made a decision to go the demo route. This past week, Carlos followed up with us. Although we had decided days before to go with the pool renovation, I was very impressed with Carlos, his responsiveness, and his customer service. Although we can't speak to the actual demolition experience, I can say Carlos and his company deserves high regards for what has been previously mentioned.

His bid covered most thoroughly for material and labor and the price was very reasonable. on the day of the estimate, Carlos took his time to answer my questions, show me pictures and videos of the jobs he had done, which was helpful to me, being a visual person. I had to go back and forth with Carlos with questions and answer. He was prompt in responding and straight to the point when explaining things to me. He and his team did a great job in the sewer replacement. They came early on the days of the job and work diligently to complete the work. It was a pretty extensive job, digging two holes, one on the street, one on my property, then SDR 17 pipe was pulled from my property to the main. The Seaside city required the work to include paving the street with 20 ft by 10 ft asphalts to covered the hole on the street. That had took the whole day, but it was beautifully done. The material and amount of work required was actually more than the estimate, but Carlos stuck with the price of the bid. I really appreciate Carlos work ethic. I had worked with several contractors and they had all charged me additional cost on top of the bids. I would recommand Carlos for his professionalism, great communication and honesty.

I called Nick twice no answer. I call the office they don't know why no one showed but tell me a crew will come at 11:30. 1130 no one comes. Still can't get in touch with Nick, at 2:30 Charles calls and said they would be on site at 3:30. I got in touch with Nick finally and said don't send anyone until tomorrow. He said again he would be on site at 8am with a crew. Nick never shows, but a crew arrived at 8:45. My bid included driveway prep, crack filler and two coats of sealer if needed. The crew finish around 12:30 but did not use crack filler on the bottom 1/3 of the driveway and the did not use sealer on part of right hand side if the driveway. I called Nick and he agreed to get the crew back out the next day a 8am. Charles calls the next day and said they would come over at 11:30. I said no don't come, I canceled the appointment. I called Nick indicated what Charles said. I told Nick to send bill a bill. I also left two messages for a person named Victor to call me, the ad min who answered the phone said she would get Victor involved. Victor never called. Nick failed to show twice after he committed to coming at 8am and he failed to return 3 phone calls and 3 text . I cannot recommend using Coastal for driveway repair. They seem unprofessional and the quality of work done lacks attention to detail and follow through. RG

I had a specific deadline because I had family coming from out of town. Coastal got me on the schedule and finished the job before my deadline. They completely tore out my old hideous cracked driveway and replaced and widened it beautifully. Thank you to app involved. My husband and I love it!
