While my husband got in line to put in our order at the Smoke Shack, I ordered beef tacos from Miggy's. 2 decent sized beef tacos + can of soda = $6. Good value! The beef was nicely seasoned and tasty. Green peppers, onions, pico, a generous amount of cheese and flour tortillas completed the tacos. While the tacos were good, they're not something I would crave. To be fair to Miggy's, I'm not a huge fan of Tex Mex. I'm a recent transplant to TX and just don't get Tex Mex. I lived in Southern California & Arizona for a long time and prefer CA/AZ style tacos (corn tortillas, no cheese & full salsa bar) over Tex Mex tacos. But if Tex Mex is your thing, please stop by Miggy's! The owners are lovely people. So you will get awesome customer service and good Tex Mex food.

I have tried Chef Jason Dady at a Yelp event before and really enjoyed it. So when I heard he also owns a food truck called DUK Truck that sells Asian steamed buns, I am so there! I went to the restaurant week food truck event in downtown just to try the DUK Truck. I ordered the Asian steamed buns of course. It came with a salad too as a special. I have to tell you these buns are NO JOKE. The buns were super soft, the meat was melt in your mouth tender mixed with unexpected greens and other ingredients. It was heavenly! The salad was not your everyday salad. It was high class, very well made with goat cheese, pear, etc. I can't say enough good things about the DUK Truck. For the Asian steamed buns alone, it is a five star food truck hands down! I might have to start stalking them to satisfy my cravings. As I said, once you go Asian (steamed buns), you never miss an equation!

I had a steak sandwich and it was spectacular. I really get the sense that, the chef thinks about how you'll experience each bite, and pays extra close attention to detail. The thing I've had, on every visit, is the Avocado Fries. They are slices of avocado lightly fried served with slaw, and homemade pickles. Each component of the dish is amazing on its own, but the real magic happens when you cut a bite size piece of Avocado, cover it with the slaw, and top it with one of the homemade pickles. Your taste buds will rejoice as all three components of the dish come together and make a flavor that makes you say, "WOW! Thats GOOD!" The first time I tried the avocado fries as I described above I was having a bad day, and I wasn't sure that things would get better. This dish helped turn my day around.
