Specializing in classic grooming services, Jacks offers expertly crafted manicure and pedicure services, among others, in a welcoming. friendly, and relaxing environment. After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that it would be appropriate this year to go back to this restaurant and write a follow-up review, since my initial review was one of my reviews that contributed to me obtaining this highly esteemed Award. Today, after having made an appointment for 2:00pm, I revisited Jacks, and since my birthday is slowly approaching, I decided to treat myself to what they call in Jacks: "The Flush Signature Package. This package included a Classic Cut, with a deep cleansing shampoo, scalp and neck massage, precision haircut and style and aroma therapy hot towels. This was followed by the Executive Hand Detail which included a deluxe manicure that also included an exfoliating scrub and a warm paraffin wax dip. And last but not least, I received the Foot Treatment. Here my nails were trimmed, I had the removal of dead skin and I received a foot massage that promoted good circulation! During all this process I was treated like royalty. When I arrived they offered me a non-alcoholic drink. I had an iced Coca-Cola, comfortably seated and waiting to be called. When my stylist was ready, she came down to get me. Then we went to the second floor. I chose to go using the elevator rather than the long stairs. Once there I received the treatment previously described. Then my Manicurist / Pedicure continued doing the other things mention after once again offering me another non-alcoholic drink. What an amazing experience. When I was finished may hands and my legs felt so good from all the massages and treatments received. If you have an opportunity of going there I would highly recommend you do. You will feel like new again. Having these treatments done really does make a difference. I'm so glad I found this place.

Walk-ins are welcome but it seems appointments are easiest as the stylist stay pretty busy. The hair cuts are consistent and quality at a price that is comparable to any of the big name men's hair salons. The staff is very nice. I'm told that you can BYO alcohol and store it there to have while in the chair. There is also a clothing store downstairs that sells business/ casual attire making this a one stop shop to feel great about the way you look. You can make appointments in-person, over the phone or on their website.

I made an appointment with Melanie the day prior and when I showed up the next day, was pleasantly greeted when I walked in to her shop. The shop is small with two chairs and one other barber, and is very comfortable. I think some barbershops can be intimidating, overwhelming or obnoxious - well, this isn't that place. The ladies here make you feel welcome. There's great natural light and cool knick knacks. I wanted a fade and a trim, and she did just that. We had awesome conversation the whole time. I think a cut is $20, and they offer a military discount - but call for prices just in case I'm inaccurate. Stop reading this, and go get your hair cut.

From the high quality hair products to the aromatic towels, this place rocks. I always get the works, which includes a hair wash after the cut. Before finding this spot, I would schedule my cuts to be when I was on my way home from work and could come home and immediately change clothes and take a shower to get rid of the awful itch of hair on your neck and down your shirt. But Melanie is so thorough with the wash and then styling after, I don't go home and shower. In fact, last weekend I got a haircut and immediately went on a road trip. I couldn't wait to show off my fresh cut. Bottom line is that you should definitely check this place out. The prices are good, the experience is great, and the end result is fantastic. I haven't found anywhere short of a spa/salon that gives such a great experience.

So when I looked on yelp & found this business I was excited & hopeful that it would work out. I made an apointment with Steve via their website for a Saturday apointment at 12:00. I drove all the way to Roanoke from the lake & at 12:00 Steve texted & said he didn't feel well and that he wasn't going to come into the shop at all that day. Now, I understand not feeling well...life happens. But to wait until the exact time of my apointment was piss poor. Now, I'll get to why I still gave this business a 5 star review. When we got the text that Steve left us high & dry CHASE stepped up & offered to cut my son's hair. He was crazy busy all by himself in the shop on a Saturday & he still squeezed us in. He took his time on my son's hair--he could have rushed him through & finished quickly, but Chase took his time & it really showed. I absolutely love my son's hair cut & I'll definitely bring my kid back to get his hair cut with Chase.

I should have got up and left the moment he had this dazed look like he was under the influence of something. Moved to Roanoke from San Diego so this was my first experience with a barber. Chase was the only one I could find with availability (should have been a warning sign) I've been getting the same cut for the past 10 years. Medium low skin fade, trim up the top. NOOO HIGH AND TIGHT. He never repeated back to me what I said, he just grabbed his clippers on a zero and ran a line up my head. He just kept cutting up and up and finally I was like dude I literally said no high and tight. At this point I already knew my hair was butchered, I didn't even want to see it, then on top of that he charges like $35 for subpar work, definitely will not be going back.

After searching for a quality hair stylist place where one could go to get a nice haircut for a…read morereasonable price, I discovered this place in Vinton, Virginia, where haircuts are still at $15. Nothing fancy inside but very relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff who make you feel at home from the time you open the door and enter the shop. I arrived at around 9:30 a.m., and the hair stylist shop was already almost full of people of all ages waiting for their turn to get a haircut. There were two hair stylists: an older man up front and a younger lady at the area in the back. You could tell that some of the people waiting were here for the first time and others were repeat customers who have come here forever and not for the price alone but for the welcoming hair stylist shop who know them by name. A senior citizen finished getting his haircut and walked out. A father and son both, one after the other, got their haircut with the lady in the back. A young gentleman who you could tell was his first time here explained carefully how he wanted his hair cut to the older hairstylist up front, and his hair was cut just as requested. More people came in, and I didn't mind waiting because I wanted to record the experience of going to an old-time barbershop in this new age. The nostalgia was present here. One that the new and expensive barbershops who call themselves Hair Salons and continuously raise their prices with no justification are lacking. Here, one felt comfortable, like in the old times, with no worries and no rush. Today was the day to go get ones hair cut. In the background, nice music was played, and one followed the rythem as one waited. "I can't get no ... satisfaction. " More people arrived and sat down. The hair stylists conversed with their customers as they cut their hair, giving them quality time without worrying about how many others were waiting. I didn't mind because I knew when my time came, they would also give me the attention I deserved. The time came to cut my hair with the young lady in the back. She welcomed me with a smile and listened well as I explained how I wanted my cut. The other customer with the other hair stylist talked about his tomato garden that you could tell he was an old timer here. As I had my haircut, my hair stylist kept a conversation with me and did an excellent job. I highly recommend this place to everyone who wants to experience the joy of getting a haircut like in the good old days.
