These guys went above and beyond for me! I accidentally ordered a 9wt and needed a 6wt. When I called, they immediately answered. Frank told me I could send it back for an exchange. They would hold the 6wt for me so it wouldn't sell out (screaming deal on a discontinued TFO Axiom II rod). I had some complicating factors with shipping and they also took care of that. After I sent the return, I called to make sure it was received and that the exchange would go through because it seemed like too many factors to magically happen. Well, Frank worked his magic and it all did go exactly as we discussed. The new rod was sent out the same day they received what I sent back and the shipping info was corrected so it would get to me within a week. I can't recommend these folks enough. Do NOT buy their own Fly Shack brand tippets and leaders. Absolute junk. Break super easily. There is an obvious quality control issue with whatever manufacture they use (surely some shitty china factor) because a few worked fine but most failed. And it wasn't even an issue of testing them to their limits, they broke with hardly any force on them at all. Their flies are annoying because you have to poke a hole in the eye to get the glue out every time; at least with the smaller flies, which is what I bought. This should already have been done and is done by other online sellers like BigYflyco.com and is done with any flies I buy from brick and mortar fly shops. The clippers are junk too and obviously from china. They do not cut cleanly at all. If you buy from them stick to the name brand stuff and avoid their own personal brand crap and avoid their flies if you don't want to be poking out the eye hole very single time you put on a fly. read more

Awesome company! My flies got here in 6 days. I ordered around 40 flies and they all got here. I recommend this site and the flies seem very good. I haven't put them in the water but they seem durable and there isn't no loose material. These flies seem great hopefully i can catch a first trout after years. read more

I searched far and wide for a fly called the "King River Caddis" for my upcoming King River fly fishing expedition. My search eventually found the one website offering the specialty fly. I placed my order and 3 days later had the flies. They ship from New York so they must have processed and shipped my order immediately. Very disappointed in several ways. I ordered about 50 flies. It took 6 weeks to get half the order and they never fulfilled the rest of the order! The quality of the flies I received was poor. They had less material and a skinner look than the same fly bought from others. The hook shaft moved around and the bead heads slid up and down the shaft...very poor quality. I will start with saying the lady I spoke with on the phone was very cordial everytime I called. But I will never buy another thing from Fly Shack in Gloversville, NY. I ordered my son's MAIN Christmas gift from them the beginning of December 2020. It never arrive until the first week in January 2021. This event ruined my Son's Christmas as there was no 'big' gift under the tree for him during gift opening time. Upon speaking with the main supervisor at the post ofice in Gloversville, she did some research and then informed me that they never received a package for ME from Fly Shack and suggested I have the lady I spoke with at Fly Shack call her. When I called the lady at Fly Shack and told her what the Post Master had told me, she told me she would send another package out. That second package never arrived so that tells me she never sent it to begin with. As stated previously, I did finally get the original item in January. This never should have happened and they were sure to charge my credit card right away though. Since all this, I have found one other person who had the same experience from Fly Shack back in December which tells me there are probably several people this has happened to. My son is an avid fishman and spends a lot on his fishing equipment but none of us here will ever buy from Fly Shack again. I have gotten my story told to many, many people. Fly Shack needs to overhaul their shipping procedures and start by NOT using the Post Office to ship orders. Use FedEX or UPS. read more

Horrible communication and customer service. Ordered a shirt from the website for Christmas (on December 7), and was told later that it was on backorder. Called several times and no one answered. Finally spoke with a sales representative and was told "there's nothing we can do" (to make up this mess to me). Bottom line...no shirt for Christmas. They wouldn't even try to make it up to me by sending some small item - I asked for anything (stickers? hat?) and was told flat out NO. As someone that spends thousands per year on fly fishing equipment, and buys most of it online, I will say that this is one of the worst online experiences I have had. Their Flies are lacking. Don't be fooled by the images. The pictures on the website were beautiful. What I got, not even close. I placed an order for 16 different Streamer flies, Beautiful in color. What came, lets just say I couldn't even tell what fly was what. they all looked the same. brown instead of red, a green feathers replaced with a few strands of green string, Flies that were large and full in the pics came small and skinny,Feathers were replaced with paint globs. the list goes on. read more
