This has to be the coolest experience in Charleston to date! This was such a great time and my boyfriend picked an awesome adventure for us to give a go. So worth it no matter which package you choose. You can choose anywhere from a 5 minute flight to a 20 minute flight. Seeing Charleston from a bird's eye view was absolutely amazing! If you want stunning views of this town, then you must give this tour company a try. If you're daring, sit up front next to the pilot without the door. I can only imagine the thrill in that seat (my boyfriend loved it...I probably would have freaked out lol). Windows all around so not a bad view no matter which seat you take. The staff was awesome. Incredible experience! They have four different tour options that are available for walk up purchase ranging from $35-$120. My friend and I decided to go all out for my birthday and do the Folly Beach tour which is marked at $120 and it's worth every single penny! Starting out from patriots point you fly out towards the mouth of Charleston Harbor along Sullivans Island before cutting across at the entrance of the harbor to head down towards Folly Beach. The views of the marsh were incredible and only topped by the incredible sites of the Folly Beach pier, the Morris Island lighthouse, and Fort Sumter before heading towards the Ravenel Bridge. It's an incredibly smooth experience and the pilot did a great job offering some brief insight into some of the landmarks and making us comfortable throughout the entire flight. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with a sunset helicopter ride for my birthday last night. Jason met us outside of the entrance to the Yorktown at Patriot's Point and was very friendly and accomodating and took requests on what we wanted to see (my boyfriend is locally grown and wanted to fly over his childhood home and to a few of the places around Charleston we have been together). The ride was amazing! The sunset was absolutely incredible and it was really cool to see familiar places, as well as places I haven't been. Fly In Helicopters deserves a 2 star rating because they only gave us 6 minutes of air time when they have on the sign that it is approximately 10 minutes. Which approximately means nearly or very close to. Six minutes in not very close to or nearly close to 10 minutes. Also, they were extremely rude and taking out they're anger from a different yelp review on our party. When we told them about only being up for 6 minutes they let our other half of our party 3 extra minutes. Besides this it was a great experience. read more

We took the 10-minnute tour that was simply awesome. It lifted off the ground, went over the USS Yorktown, up the harbor to Sullivan's Island, then looped south over Ft Sumter and on to the Charleston skyline, along the Ravenals Bridge and back to the landing at Patriot Point, Pilot pointed out key features along the way. Very friendly guy. Afterwards, I wish I had asked him if he would stop and hover over Ft Sumpter, that would have been cool. Also, they said it would be about a 10-minute ride. I recorded the whole flight on my cell phone and from take off to landing it was 7 and a half minutes. Bottom line: do it! Views of Charleston Harbor are just beautiful. read more

Yes, it seems expensive at first, but it is absolutely worth the investment! My seven-year-old son and I splurged on the Isle of Palms Tour and totally loved it -- you get to see an amazing diversity of sights in only 15 minutes -- beautiful beaches and tidal marshes, Ft. Sumter from above, downtown Charleston, and a remarkable lighthouse that seems to be floating in the middle of the ocean. Can't recommend the experience enough -- you won't forget it! read more

I had planned a trip from Florida to Charleston in November 2019 with my teenage son and father. One of my planned stops was a tour of the U.S.S. Yorktown and a helicopter tour of the harbor. My son's "great-grandfather" served aboard the Yorktown in WWII, so I thought it would be a great experience to take them on a helicopter tour of the harbor and get some video of the Yorktown. In researching the Patriots Point web site and the Fly In website, both listed tours as "Daily Flights, weather permitting". The Fly In web site listed tours as "Walk-up helicopter tours are offered from 10am - 5pm* daily (weather permitting). *or until all ticketed flights are completed.". We arrived on a Wednesday morning and I had my son call Fly In to find out what times were available for the tours. I can't begin to describe the disappointment on my son's face, as well as my dad's, when we were told they only did tours on the weekend, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It would have been nice if they had updated their website with that information. I understand it was the week of Thanksgiving, but at least put something on the web site indicating you're not flying certain days. So, if anyone out there is thinking of taking one of their helicopter tours, I suggest you call a couple of days before, just to make sure they are actually flying that day, even though both websites list "Daily Flights". It may help you avoid some disappointment. read more

The whole team was incredible. Matt the Pilot and Robert the owner worked with me as I incorporated the helicopter tour into my marriage proposal. We did a sunset tour on a Friday night and Matt did an incredible job giving us a tour of Charleston and the surrounding area. We went on the 15 minute lighthouse tour and enjoyed every minute of it! The views of the beaches and the city are amazing. The staff members were so friendly and made us feel very comfortable.
