Ladies, beware the cavemen! I'm a certified welder who applied for a production MIG welding position at this company. I interviewed with a guy named Chuck and we discussed my qualifications and took a tour of the production facility.
I had to ask him to describe my specific job to me and show me what I would be doing. He told me that I would be welding brackets to steel plates following a template, which would be small work for me. I said that I was interested, he told me they would make a decision, and we shook hands.
I followed up the next day with the staffing agent to find out their decision. He informed me that
I didn't get the job because I failed the weld test.
Um, they never administered a weld test.
So I told this to the staffing agent and he said he would follow up on that because they may have had me mixed up with someone else. I've never interviewed at a place that couldn't keep their candidates straight, so I saw a lack a professionalism to begin with.
The agent contacted me again a couple of days later to give me their OTHER excuse. They decided not to hire me because they required someone who could lift 100 lbs on a regular basis and be able to turn over large beams. But Chuck and I had never discussed anything of that nature pertaining to my prospective duties.
I told this to the staffing agent and he fumbled and said, "Well, uh, didn't you discuss that you had an injury that would prevent you from lifting?"
No, there was never any discussion about injuries or being able to lift 100 lbs in my interview with Chuck.
Lies, lies, lies. What this is is pure discrimination. Ladies, don't even waste your time here. They are dishonest, unprofessional and engage in illegal hiring practices. read more
