To top it off, we didn't have good customer experience (they heard my SIL incorrectly - corn dog vs hot dog) and both staff gave me an attitude. The BLT Chub was juicy without being greasy, bun had a nice crisp, And the toppings were perfectly balanced. The real surprise were the tater tots, super crispy, absolute perfection. Totally stumbled on this place randomly when trying to find food in Lakeview, and was decently surprised. This place is simply a fast casual dining spot that I believe is locally owned. The staff is super nice and accommodating, they want you to feel well catered to and the vibe very much gives you family owned vibes. The food was very good! I got the burger with guava bbq on it with fries. They ran out of tater tots but the fries were good. The burgers were around $18 which is a bit pricey. The service was friendly when they took my order but the biggest issue I had was how long it took! Something changed...it used to be a favorite of mine since it opened many years ago. I didn't even finish eating my Italian beef. The bun changed, the beef was plentiful, sliced and in a watery sauce with dried oregano...no flavor... and the bun was different and tough. even dipping it didn't soften it. It was the most expensive italian beef in the city at $16.00 (most are $10 or $12) I loved the big sweet peppers they used to have but now they have a small portion of small chopped pieces of mushy peppers...awful! $38 for two inedible sandwiches with something watery poured over them and one order of onion rings before tip. I think the bun was larger than before which wasn't necessary, but definitely not authentic "Chicago Style Italian Beef. It used to be great! Maybe new owners or management or greed. read more

I feel like this place is a hidden gem. Sitting below on busy Broadway in lakeview it could be hard to miss. They have a pretty long list of hotdog and hamburgers options to suit your fancy. I got the Flubby with fries which is their standard Chicago style hotdog with all the right accoutrements. It was phenomenal! Perfect amount of toppings and delicious hotdog. The fries were cooked perfectly as well. My boyfriend got a Flubby and a bacon cheeseburger also with fries and tater tots. He said that the burger and hotdog were one of the bests for this style of restaurant in the city of Chicago, which is high praise coming from a Chicago native. He also rated it 5/5. Don't be afraid of the line (if there is one) because it moved fast. The service was fantastic for the type of restaurant it is with super friendly staff. Anyone who hasn't been here could have trouble finding it. It happens to be in the basement, down a set of stairs from Monsignor Murphy's. This is certainly quite a dingy place. A few tables are inside, which actually is bigger than it looks. There appears to be no bathroom: there's no room for one. As for the hot dogs, they're basic but good. It's about $8 each, kind of a lot. These are pretty big, and come with French fries or tater tots. Many flavors to choose from. Of course the Chicago style. Even plant based. The Willie Dog is vegan. Seems the tots are okay but these aren't among the best. Thankfully these are always included. Besides hot dogs, there's also burgers. If eating plant based, they have such a burger, so definitely more on the menu to choose from. The majority of customers stick to hot dogs though. read more

Quality Chicago Dog!! I brought my best friend who was visiting out of town and was able to try a couple of items. It was also very cool for the employee to share why a Chicago Dog should not have ketchup on it. The tots were a little oily but crunchy and tasty. The fries were great, not too salty, and hot (which is very important to me)! The hot dogs were of quality ingredients including the original vienna and the spicy polish. The pickle had a great crunch, the sport peppers gave just enough heat, and the tomatoes were fresh! Also, I'm a ranch fanatic and their ranch hit the spot with the fries.
