I am extremely disappointed with the service we received today (12/12 around 2:00 PM). We came in to purchase a small floral arrangement for my father's birthday. He is laid to rest in a mausoleum at the nearby cemetery, so this was already an emotional visit for us. The woman working had an incredibly rude and dismissive attitude. Instead of offering help or ideas, she abruptly told us that we needed to "know what we want." We were taken aback by her tone and explained that we were hoping for guidance. After all, she is the flower expert. Rather than assisting, she continued to be curt and unhelpful. What made this especially upsetting is that we have shopped here before and always received kind, thoughtful service. Today was the complete opposite. There was no empathy, no professionalism, and no attempt to help customers who were simply trying to honor a deceased loved one. We ultimately left without flowers and with a very bad taste in our mouths. Someone with this level of poor manners and lack of compassion should not be interacting with customers, especially in a business that serves people during emotional moments. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE My boyfriends mom just had surgery and was experiencing a lot of pain. I wanted to buy her flowers from a local florist to cheer her up. Ordering on the site was easy, loved how they had next day delivery, and the bouquets were separated by occasions so I found a nice "Get Well Soon" bouquet that I thought she would like very quickly. Next day I wake up to my boyfriends mom sending me a pic of the bouquet saying thank you, but it looks NOTHING like the picture on the website. I told myself to calm down and maybe it just needed to bloom. Did NOT BLOOM and just DIED after a week. Proprietors, Matthew and Michelle, were friendly and caring on my saddest day, the anniversary of my son's death. I called to order flowers for his gravesite, and they offered to deliver them. I was not aware florists provided this service and was so grateful they did. While I was at the cemetery, I was surprised when Flowers by Peter, arrived with the beautiful spray of flowers, fall plantings and pumpkins. I had just called a couple of hours earlier. The gentlemen were kind and courteous, and they cleaned up the area before creating a tasteful fall arrangement. Customer service was top-notch. The arrangement we wanted wasn't available but I told them I was gonna trust their taste since this is their trade. And they did not disappoint! The flowers were abundant and when unfortunately our balloon popped during delivery (right by our door)... they returned shortly with a replacement balloon. We stopped at Flowers by Peter right outside of the Flushing Cemetery. They had a wide assortment of grave blankets and wreaths right outside. (The first florist we stopped at, didn't have any type of arrangements suitable for graves. They wouldn't be made until the next day). We picked out 2 regular sized grave blankets that were very nicely decorated (they also had extra long ones). Inside, the store was neatly organized with potted poinsettias and various floral arrangements and we heard the sounds of chirping birds, quite bucolic. read more

2 STARS: -overpriced -poor customer service -sad options (not colorful enough/nor a variety of flowers) Just came to this shop on Mother's Day and I will say that the environment is very meh here. When I came in, no one greeted me nor did anyone offer to help me. I say this because they seemed to be friendly and helpful to everyone else that came in after me. This shop has many options available (all seem to be the same type of flowers placed differently) but expect to pay a lot of money for the really nice flowers. I do feel that they're overpriced in comparison to other places so I would say shop around before deciding. I ended up buying the $20 flowers, when I went to the register the lady behind the counter was helping someone else and when she finished she says "who's next?". Umm hello, I'm standing here and the only one standing here. (This made me ultimately decide that I will never return to this place again). I don't expect exceptional customer service but fair and friendly customer service is warranted. I only bought the flowers from there because I was on a time crunch but best believe I will make a better decision in the future. Advice to management/owner - treat everyone equally. read more

Came here to get a graduation bouquet last year. Worst idea ever. The bouquet I purchased looked like ones you'd present to a mourning family or grieving widow at a funeral. This florist is tailored to memorial arrangements, not for gift giving by any means. In hindsight, I should have assumed so as they are situated across a cemetery. But with a name like "Flowers byPeter" with a greenhouse at the ready, I'd assume better quality and variety to be had. Also, their prices are ridiculous. Better off going to the florist on Utopia and Northern Boulevard for a better deal. read more

We have a long history with Flowers by Peter -- for the last 5 years, I have been the lucky recipient of many lovely and higher end arrangements on nearly all the special occasions. Recently, we had a disappointing experience and it is only because of Marie Lou that I will be continuing my business with Flowers by Peter and giving them a second chance. I understand that people are human and can make mistakes. I can absolutely state that the negative reviews are real experiences. However, Marie Lou's professionalism and empathy saved Flowers by Peter from receiving the 1 or 2 starts I was going to give. I was very polite but strong with Marie Lou, yet she listened to me and even made me feel better about my negative experience and treated me like I was a friend she was comforting. When you are ordering special flowers for your father's grave every year from the same vendor, nothing is more uncomfortable than dealing with someone on the other end of the line who is just about business and nothing else. That is the impression I got from the store owner, Michelle, when I tried ordering an arrangement from her store, like I do every year. Yes, it was last minute, so maybe her explicit annoyance can be somewhat understood. However, when you are dealing with customers on a daily basis, much less those who live on the other side of the country and who have been relying on your services every year, a little more cordiality and professionalism goes a long way. To add to that, the store failed to take a picture of another cemetery arrangement from a couple of months ago that was ordered from them, as is requested every time I order. Essentially a customer is paying money (in this case over $70) for a product that he never sees or that bears evidence of being delivered. No apologies or opportunities to remedy the situation were offered from Michelle. It seems business is business for this florist and nothing else. And it looks like I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

I stopped by Flowers By Peter when I was in NY last week and couldn't have been happier with the service and the arraingment I received. It was my sisiters graduation and I hadn't ordered any flowers so it was a super last minute deal, but they helped me out!! The arraingment itself was beautifuly done and pretty fair on the price. My sister ended up loving the flowers so I guess they speak for themselves. Next time I'm in the city and need some flowers I will definately be visiting Flowers By Peter!! read more

A previous complaint listed this management as flowers by rude. Couldn't agree more. To be kind I will not name the person. She never admitted the arrangement she sent to a funeral home was not up to par. She wanted proof it was a sorry looking arrangement even though I told her two sisters had called to tell me how disappointing it was. I had been using this florist for over 30 years. If you all check other complaints you can see mine is not an isolated occurrence. No wonder she is getting nasty emails by her own admission! I would have apologized profusely and offered a refund. But alas it is obvious this person is not a professional and should not be handling one on one formal complaints. read more

My family and I met with Matthew on November 27, 2017 to arrange for flowers for our Mom's wake and funeral. We had looked at his floral book at the funeral home and found exactly what we wanted. We ordered a casket cover and 2 wreaths and we wanted them to match. We also wanted the flowers as shown as we wanted colorful and bright arrangements. Matthew assured us he would take care of everything. He showed us a wreath that was already made so we would have an idea of the actual size, and he changed the greens on the arrangements to better suit what we were looking for. I can't begin to express how happy we were with everything!!! The flowers were just gorgeous-and if you put them next to the picture in the book they would match perfectly!! I've never been disappointed by them. I've been ordering from them for years. It all started with my then boyfriend (now husband). He ordered me some flowers for Valentine's Day. They came in an adorable Hershey's kiss Vase. It was a stunning arrangement. After that he's ordered many more from them. Once I had some dental surgery and he sent flowers from them and the delivery guy called me and left a message because it was very Icey and snowy to let me know he will come by later. (I still have the message because it was very cute when he said "be safe out there"). They have great service and the flowers are beautiful. I recently ordered an arrangement for my 99yr old grandma who is at the hospital. I called them on the phone and told them to include my favorite orange lillies but they have the freedom to design it however they like. It was the MOST BEAUTIFUL floral arrangement.
