Public review for Designs by Barb and James in Oak Hill, WV…read more I was desperately searching for an excellent florist to design my Father's funeral standing spray and learned that Barb and her team were the absolute best in the area. Sadly, when I called, I was told that they do not deliver to the area where my Father's service is. It was too far from their shop. I asked to speak to Barb, the owner, and explained to her why this was so important to me and began pleading for her to do my design. She instantly agreed and offered to drive over an hour for the delivery to the funeral home with a delivery fee. I explained what I wanted and sent her photos of ideas and she and her team got to work. Their shop did this with only a two day notice. Barb texted me the attached photo tonight for approval of the completed design and I was overwhelmed with joy. She and her team created exactly what I wanted. The flower design couldn't be any more perfect. Barb, you and your team are incredibly talented. Paid extra for a delivery fee that was out of the delivery area, ok, no problem. Credit card statement came, receipt for $47.65, billed $71!!!!!!!!! Manager was COMPLETELY unprofessional and would not work with me to correct the issue. Will NEVER use these unprofessional rude people again. AND just got a call from my grandmother, Jay Roles called to tell her they are coming to pick up the flowers because I am disputing the price difference that I wasn't informed of. $8 and some change. Are you serious? Sure, waste your gas to pick up dead flowers. Smart business!

Steve assured me this would not be a problem. I offered to pay extra but he declined. Our agreement was met always until August 2023. I ordered flowers but received no photo. When I called, Steve stated he was too busy to take photo. This was part of our original verbal contract. No apologies. I let it go even though I was very angry. Keep in mind I paid each invoice promptly 12/5/25, I called Steve. I explained it was the 20th anniversary of my son's death and I wanted to do something really specially for an arrangement. I found a Christmas tree I liked and placed ordered. I even decorated my home this past year. Christmas was my son's favorite holiday. I received no photo. On 12/15 I called Steve and he told me tree was sitting in front of store and would be delivered soon. Christmas came and went without another word. I called again around end of year and was told by Steve he was too busy to take photo and send to me, again, no apologies. I have not and will not pay invoice as Steve, owner has once again failed to fulfill his original verbal contract with me regarding the photos in in addition to just being irresponsible regarding entire situation.

I've been there several times and I rarely see more than one employee. The owner stays mostly in her office and rarely engages with customers and on the one time I was able to speak to her she seemed annoyed that I had bothered her. There are better places to spend my money and where they appreciate my business.

I was very…read moreexcited to visit Greenbrier Nurseries in Beckley after looking at the website, but when we arrived they had only a couple very overpriced trees. I understand supply and demand so that wasn't what was so upsetting. The reason I'll not go back is the service. We walked in and only one woman was there and she did say hello when we first walked in. We walked around obviously looking for something particular and she never said another word to us. I even went to look for her to ask her questions but couldn't find her. Years prior I had gone to GBN in Hinton and purchased several trees and the gentleman was so helpful so I really thought I would be able to find what I wanted yesterday. We ultimately ended up going to Daniels to a nursery that was half the size but had probably four times the selection. We were greeted with very friendly and helpful staff and we left there with the exact trees we were looking for. What can I say? Customer service is basically everything. This review isn't intended to be malicious, it's intended to encourage them to be better. With that being said, for now I'll go back to the nursery in Daniels.
