Had a great experience with Flower City Towing. When I was in a bind, other tow companies were unhelpful or rude. Both the secretary and the driver made the experience very easy. Example: the first company I called quoted me 125 plus tax, told me they would arrive in 2 hours, and overall acted as though I was being obnoxious by asking for their service, so I turned them down. The second company I called arrived in thirty minutes with a flatbed. Soon thereafter he couldn't find a way to load my car and drove off, saying he had other calls to worry about. Finally I called Flower City, who arrived in twenty minutes and had it done in no time. Should've called them from the start and saved myself over an hour. read more

Towed my Girlfriends car from her own apartment parking lot that she pays to park in every month (Apparently they don't have a list of which license plates are allowed to be there, which is bullshit because the apartment managers give them a list) literally 20 minutes after she parked. On New year's Eve. There are cars there that have been literally broken down for months that they won't tow, which shows that they only tow the people with money to pay them for their predatory scheme. Also. They're charging here for her car being in their impound lot over New Years day even though they're closed. How can you charge for the car being there if you're not going to be open to let people get there cars? It's predatory and absolutely shady. Seeing all the bad Yelp reviews and Facebook reviews it seems like they're a total scum business. I've never wanted to give a -5 star rating before today. After reading the other reviews I can see that I'm not the first nor will I be the last. That being said I will start with the fact that there will be a law suit against them by the end of the week. My mother's truck was towed for being parked in a handicap parking spot because her placard was not visable. It was on the sunguard, not the rearview. Upon arriving at the "office" which looks to just be a pole barn, surrounded with a large chain link fence. The man that came out and talked to us through the fence was a horrible person. Caustic and rude to say the least. When we explained we have a handicap placard he said "I'm not talking to you!". When we got into the barn to look at our vehicle, we had to use our phone lights to inspect the truck. There's no light. I can only assume that's so if there is damage, you don't notice until you've left their property. When I started the truck I noticed a "maint req" light that was not there. I told him I wouldn't move the truck until I called the cops since they damaged the truck. The man's response was to start screaming for me to get off the property. I parked outside his fence and waited for the police. Even the police called these "professionals" scum!! Steer clear of this "establishment" and any businesses that use them. Flower city towing company towed my car after 15 minutes of parking the car, where I was not aware of the parking spot belonging to the naighbouring business. Me and my girlfriend arrived before they hook the car to their truck. I asked the guy to put it down and the guy refused and then asked for $50 in cash. When I said I don't have cash and why 50 he told me to go get it from ATM. I went to find an ATM and saw him hooking up the car. I came back with one of the employees of dunkin donuts who was also wondering why the guy was towing the car. Also the owner of the restaurant that I went to dine, came to help but the towing guy did not listen. The guy then towed the car without allowing me to get any cash or bringing our car down from the tow truck. I spoke with a lawyer and got instructed on the violations of the rules on towing from private property of the city of Rochester, this may help you if you have a similar problem with them: § 108A-7 Towing from privately owned property without vehicle owner's permission. Section D says if the car owner arrives they must stop the towing process. They only can charge if the car is hooked and even if it is the charge is only $25. Also section B says that they are supposed to accept debit or credit card, which the guy refused to take and said I only accept cash. They took our car and charged me $129.5 at their warehouse (fences and no office), where they also didn't accept credit cards and forced me to go get the cash with a second lyft ride. I called the police and the guy even confirmed in front of them that he asked for $50 from me to stop hooking up our car, which is illigal. I have eye witnesses (my girlfriend and the owner of the shop next door and the emloyee of the neighboring business at the location that the car was towed and two police officers at the warehouse). I have also informed them that I am going to file a complaint against this unlawful act in court. You have 14 days to do this in case you are wondering what to do about this situation. Everyone that works here is grossly incompetent and probably illiterate. My landlord has a contract with this company (not sure why) and they have consistently been the slowest, rudest, most unhelpful pieces of scum I have ever talked to. I've called over five times to have cars towed out of my parking space and they have never once successfully shown up. I'm not sure how they make money other than by scamming landlords for contracts that are not followed through on?? The most recent time I called (after having spoken to multiple here on multiple occasions) they told me that I wasn't allowed to call and my landlord was required to call instead of me. I asked when they changed the terms of the contract and the waste of a human on the phone wasn't able to give me an answer, wouldn't listen to me explain that I, in fact, do have the ability to call and have done so many times before. I mean, if you don't like running a lucrative business, then keep doing what you're doing, Flower City Tow! And continue having complete idiots answer your phones. read more

I may be the only person to ever give a 5 star review because of the nature of their business, but - pro tip - if you get towed its your own fault and it sucks. As mad as I was about my situation when I told them I am not mad at them but my situation Joe immediately took a calm tone and worked with me to get my car back and at the lowest cost to me possible. They worked with me through the whole process, especially about return location. Jimmy did a great job rolling with it as the drop location had to be changed in the middle of the job. Thank you for helping me keep my cool and actually proving that Rochester even has good people when they tow your vehicle on you. Things happen, when they do you want people who can work with you even when your really really mad about your situation. If they don't work with you, its probably because your being unreasonable and expecting a miracle where all you can ask for when your cars been towed is a little help. Cheers! read more

Awful experience. I had to wait two and a half hours for an employee to show up and let us have our car back. Then he was another half hour after the agreed upon time showing up. If you are going to take peoples' cars at least be available to process their payment. read more

Terrible service terrible company terrible people. They towed my friends car and when she called about getting it back the man on the phone was simply mean to her. We then drove to pick it up and there was nobody there! We waited over 40 minutes for a man to let her in to finally get her car. I would rate this business with ZERO STARS along with any establishment that uses their services!!!!!!! They are rude, abusive and downright nasty and they run a predatory business that is borderline illegal. They prey on unsuspecting victims, usually young females in areas with very obscure if not minimal signage!! My daughter had her car towed from a parking lot belonging to an apartment complex that her friend lived in. She was parked there to pick up this friend and her car was towed within a DOCUMENTED 15 minutes!! They had to be waiting right there and watching as there is no other explanation for the quick towing. Took her 20 min to even see a sign that said " illegal cars will be towed"! She never considered parking in a parking lot belonging to the complex her friend lived in to be illegal! I have contacted Berkley Brean from news 10 to look into the legalities of this business!!! Shady. Took my car in the middle of the night because my vinyl peel on wasn't placed in my own lot I pay for.

Predatory towing practices. Verbally threatened by tow truck driver while he tried to continually blind/stun us with a strong flashlight in our eyes while threatening to have me "put in jail." Car was hooked up and lifted while I was in my car and I injured my leg when I tried to exit my vehicle to get cash from an ATM for the driver. I am contacting a lawyer. This company towed my car out of a parking spot that I pay for and have a parking permit for. When I called the company upset because they had done so the guy was extremely rude and insisted that I was wrong and that he had taken pictures of the car and that there was no way that there was a parking permit in the car. Apparently he was incapable of checking rear windows for the parking permit which was clearly displayed. Absolutely horrible these people are terrible, rude, and I don't know how this company still exists. read more

I agree with the previous reviews as my friend and I had a similar experience (although we weren't even offered the courtesy of a seat in a warm car). The temp was freezing outside and "the guy" made us stand in the cold while telling us "cash only" (his excuse was his credit card machine was broken) and sending us -- two women -- TO WALK down the street to the nearest ATM ($4 transaction fee) to procure the cash payment. He and his partner were extremely rude -- possibly soul-less. Yes, we parked illegally (though the "rules" of the lot were unclear: no parking attendant, obscure payment options, no fee posted, and no "no parking-- tow zone" signs where we parked. I suspect at least some of the other cars that we saw in that Cliff St. garage were towed from the same lot). Horrendous. read more

They towed my car from a side street that was perfectly permissible to park on. There were signs on the side street that had hours listed when you could park there and my car was parked within the allowed range of hours yet they towed my car anyway. Totally illegal on their part. I went to the business to get my car back and found the location to be very sketchy. Did not feel safe there. The came out and demanded cash payment before he'd open the gate. I offered credit, he claimed they only take cash. I pushed for credit and then he claimed his machine was down, I told him they couldn't tow my car in the first place so take the credit card. He finally took the credit card. After waiting for a long time, he said the credit card payment went through. This business reeks of fraud. read more

am a very nice person in general, I am also a very trustworthy person, the downside is that I expect the same from people and businesses, and when a representative says something such as "129 and we wont tow your car" when I tell him the situation and I gladly go to get the money and as I come out he pulls away all in a matter of 3 minutes there is a problem, especially when as i sprint down the street after him and bust my ass while in persuit after being told my car wouldnt be towed if I brought the money out, he looks at me in his side view mirror, I understand it is downtown rochester, but seeings I was coming out of a charity event I had just donated at to go home and I am dressed in a dress shirt, pants and shoes, and was very polite about the payment offer any sensible person/employee would not stoop so low as to have me chase after them look like a fool in front of eveyone standing outside and bust my ass and smack my head on the sidewalk, money is not the issue it is the principle, after this incompetent employee pulled such a move, I had to pay someone else to bring me to their lot to be off a dollar amount of 9 dollars, if you would of let that go I would of never said a word, but instead you make me tell my driver to take me to an ATM, because of no credit offer? seriously? I agree they towed my jeep in 2016 they refuse to give me documents that they towed and scrapped. I believe they did something illegal.

I just had an experience with them today and the practices others mentioned are still well in place. Parked in a lot for a doctor's office -- apparently towed sometime within 60 minutes because I later learned that only a few spaces are reserved for patients? My car too was sitting in a dark shed behind a barbed wire fence. CASH ONLY. He would not accept partial cash-check payment and held my car at ransom. Told me he could not run my credit card due to "electrical problems". Asked me to hand my driver's license to him through the fence. Thank goodness I was there with a friend (who was a gentleman and refused to leave me alone there). $130 bucks but I don't have a leg to stand on to get it back. read more

We parked in a lot next to Flour City Station to see a band. Didn't know it was a pay lot as there was a group of people in front of a pay station, so we didn't see it. We were told that the towing company pays those people to call them when they see that someone hasn't paid. What a scam !!! We were in the bar about 15 minutes before our car was towed. My wife called and the person said it would be $85.00 to get the car back and we had to get a ride there to do it. When we got there (a dimly lit building with a chain link fence enclosure), we were told it was $129.00, and it had to be cash. Luckily I had it after arguing for a bit, but they wouldn't even let you inside until you gave them the cash through the fence. By the way, the person didn't have any change, so had to drive to a store (in an Audi) to get it. The city and attorney general should investigate this place. I think I'll alert the media too. read more

BEWARE!!!! Not even worthy of a star. No stars at all here! Signs are not visible. Was towed after leaving my car in the lot next to Flour City Station bar on East where the signs were not visible. We were parked no more than 30 minutes and my car was gone. It was 11:45pm. Called the number on a very small sign where I could barely read the number. Was told to go to 70 Cliff street to pick it up. And that it would be $129.00. Went there in a cab and it was super sketchy and in a bad neighborhood. It was a building with a gate with a small sign that said Flour City Towing. I was with my sister and our phones were almost dead. Super scary situation. Called them again and they said someone would be on there way soon and to wait by the gate. And that we would be "on camera". So scared at this point. After 20 minutes two guys showed up in a tow truck. I gave them my license and credit card. They said "I told you cash on the phone" which they did not. I had to go to the atm which they drove me to. I did not want them to drive me but had no choice. Got my truck but it's the sketchiest situation in the world to have two young ladies standing in one of the worst parts of the city. And to be told that we're "on camera" is total BS. It's unsafe. Do not go there to get your car at night. Do not go there if you are alone. Not safe. Bad people.
