I had been craving their southwestern cuisine since moving here, & Sopapilla came close! Recently had Sunday lunch there with a party of 7. It actually wasn't extremely busy, as tables began to clear by the time we got seated for our 12:45 reservation. Unfortunately, many times, it's when the rush calms that service at many restaurants wanes. Apparently, there was an issue with/in the kitchen that greatly slowed our service, & our waiter tried to joke about it & wasn't always attentive for drinks/refills. 2 in our party didn't get their food until much later & it was the wrong thing. I think the rest of us enjoyed our food when we got it. I say all that to tell about the professional & generous way the owner has handled trying to make up for our less than ideal experience. We were given complimentary Sopapilla's (which used to be free for everyone), & then he gave us all gift cards. I feel he has more than compensated for this one negative experience. This last time was an anomaly, & I would highly recommend Sopapilla. I will definitely be returning. Always good chips & salsa. I always get the dip sampler with 2 queso + 1 guac, but it normally comes w a bean dip, queso, & guac. I've had many different entrees, all good. This time it was carne asada & brisket street tacos. Great!

The food was incredible again (I got the same taco and enchilada because it was THAT good the first time) and we got to try some delicious sopapillas! The service was very attentive and quick and the owner stopped by and checked on us a few times. It meant so much that he reached out and welcomed me back, I will definitely return here again!

I can confirm, the food is consistent with the Chuy's we all know & love. Our server, Jacqueline P, was sugar sweet and so attentive. She checked on us so many times and even gave me a bag of chips to take home. I always get the King Memorial plate, which I think used to be called the Elvis plate. Three enchiladas and a taco. It's such a good value. The creamy jalapeño sauce was oh so delicious. As always. 5 stars

We were brought chips and salsa, and before we could even settle in, our waiter was openly rude to us about not ordering food and drinks. He then walked over to other staff, pointed directly at our table, and talked about us in plain sight. Incredibly unprofessional. He came back and rudely informed us he was charging us for the chips. This is the same Chuy's whose own menu advertises that "you always get free chips and salsa." He topped it off by telling us he'd "never seen someone come in and not order food." We were paying customers and got treated like an inconvenience for ordering drinks. If you're searching for Mexican food or Tex-Mex in Franklin or Cool Springs with friendly service, keep looking. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants in Franklin, Tennessee that treat guests with basic respect. Rude waiter, surprise charges, and being gossiped about mid-meal. We won't be back.

First was a food temp problem which went back to the kitchen and returned satisfactory. The second was another small issue with char grilled oysters. My wife asked to speak to manager for feedback. We had no complaints per se but have a big compliment to share. 55 South has high expectations and are going to take great care of you.

Location is on historic Main Street, easy to find and public parking is around the corner. Prompt and very friendly service. Don't have to wait on your drinks--and I recommend the cocktails. The perfectionist, which is bourbon based, is well balanced and refreshing without being heavy. The red beans and rice remain excellent, spicy in taste not just heat. You can add whichever hot sauce you prefer. I really liked the catfish filet that came with it--crunchy just right. My partner got a standby--shrimp and grits, with fresh shrimp the real standout. Totally relaxed, casual. Everyone enjoying themselves in a historic space. Great back bar by the way.

When arriving, my wife and I were not even greeted right. The host/waiter (I guess?) was really quiet and just gave us a seat. When sitting down and deciding what to get we were doing fine, but the waiter that helped was very short with us. We decided to go with the 3 dip choice chips and the only dip that we liked was the cheese, everything else was very terribly seasoned. When we got our tacos, I can confidently say this food is not authentic, it's not even tasty. It really was a bit like Taco Bell with a premium price. There was too much sauce, the chicken itself was really badly seasoned, it tasted like bland boiled chicken. At the end our waiter was again rude. The music choice in the restaurant was also BORING. Just overall a truly bad experience. You're better off going to another restaurant. Over priced for a very bad experience.
