This is not a complaint, just a review/experience: We rented a side entry wheelchair accessible vehicle about two weeks prior to picking up. We opted out of insurance because our credit card provides it in the event of collision. We told the company this, however, on the day of travel, we received tons of calls and messages saying they need for us to purchase their insurance or else they won't be able to rent us the vehicle. I'm not sure why they did not let us know prior to, but it was most aggravating. All emails and information on how to pick up the vehicle was not sent until the morning of. When we landed, we opted to not pay the $65 airport fee because the rental lot was only 10 minutes shuttle from the airport. The shuttle never came, so had to pay $20 for an Uber, which was later refunded. When we got to the lot, it was dark, no attendant, no direction on where the vehicle would be. About 30min. later, we found an attendant in the booth (who did not work with Florida Van Rentals) who told us he would escort us to the area, even though he is not supposed to. The vehicle was parked in an unlit area in Wally parking lot, with no instructions on how to open the lock box. After another 30min or so of trying, we took the shuttle back to the airport, paid an Uber to the resort of $88, (which was later refunded). We did not receive a refund for the day we did not use the vehicle. However, later on the next day, the vehicle was delivered to our resort with the keys left openly in the gas tank. We had an older 2018 Dodge Caravan which made lots of noise when driving and the manual ramp unhitched. Again, no instruction on how to use the ramp. The person dropping off the vehicle did not bother to meet us and hand us the key. After calling repeatedly, we received a text message, but I called again to speak with someone and they sent someone to fix it the next day. All in all, it was hell trying to get someone on the phone after hours, especially because they do not make it easy to find the vehicle or open the lock box. Also, it's best to request a newer vehicle and make sure your phone is charged for self check-in, because no one will be there to assist. Alexandria was very kind to me in the end offering the refund for the taxi, however we weren't so lucky to be refunded for having double insurance (theirs and my Amex) and the day we didn't have instruction to open the lock box and couldn't access the vehicle. We were also told Sunpass is refundable, but in the end, she said it isn't. Would I rent from them again? I would need to work out the best deal and make sure I ask all the questions prior to traveling/date of reservation. If you're thinking about renting, please ask detailed questions the day of. We were stuck at the airport for four hours trying to figure out where our vehicle was. Don't ever use this company. It's such garbage to say the least. read more

They charged me for a month for a rental van with no A/C, argued with me that the A/C worked when it didn't and then refused to refund my money after they got the van back after it sat in my driveway for a few days because they were ignoring my requests to return it. This was our 3rd visit to Orlando but our first time using Florida Van Rentals and I was very pleased with the overall experience. From booking the rental a few months back, there was plenty of communication about what was needed and when, where, and how I would retrieve my vehicle. The price I got for a 12 passenger van was very reasonable and the customer service was always very pleasant. I also enjoyed the fact the vehicle pick-up was counter free. That is always my least favorite part of the rental process so being able to avoid the additional upselling and passive aggressive vehicle inspection of prior damages with a service rep was a welcome change. The van we received was in fair/good condition but most importantly, we got the large vehicle we needed to transport our family of 10 around town and easily accommodated our several pieces of luggage. This company even went above and beyond after our rental and returned/shipped an item to me that we left in the van. The return process was seamless and all instructions I was provided worked as expected. Will absolutely 100% use this company next time we visit Orlando. This was definitely one of the best experiences I've had renting a vehicle. read more

Buyer beware, if you need to cancel for any reason, you won't get your money back. We had to cancel our trip to Florida in October due to the hurricane. We rescheduled for this May but had to cancel due to a severe illness. We were charged $50 to cancel our trip and our $900 sits on a credit memo for future use. We live on the opposite side of the country and most likely won't get back to Florida any time soon. You only have one year to use the credit. Van by Dodge, Paperwork by Kafka We rented a wheelchair van from these folks recently, delivered/returned to the Daytona Beach airport. The worst part of the experience, honestly, was the booking and paperwork: They have a truly inordinate number of forms and signatures. Renting from small companies is always a bit more cumbersome than from the national agencies. (I've rented wheelchair vans before.) But this was over the top. They've responded to some previous negative reviews with "You should have read your contract!" So I did--every word. The whole thing is an exercise in saying "We don't trust our customers an inch, but our customers will have to rely on our good faith." It was really distasteful. Nonetheless, there weren't a lot of easy options, so we went ahead, accepted the risk, and signed. Objectively, things went okay. They staged the van in the airport long-term parking with the key hidden in/near the vehicle. This seemed like amateur hour. (Just bolt a lockbox to the bumper, for heaven's sake...) But it worked. We requested a side-entry van and were given a rear-entry van. They warned us about this, and I've seen several similar comments in other reviews. Rear-entry was fine with us, but if you *must* have a side-entry van, you should probably look elsewhere. The van was a Dodge with 48K miles. It was in pretty decent shape for that mileage, and was appropriately clean. Renters of wheelchair vans probably don't drag race much, but the company obviously maintained the vehicle reasonably. The total cost was about $100/day. For a wheelchair van, this was quite reasonable in relation to other places I've rented. They're expensive vehicles. I returned the van undamaged to the airport lot, so objectively, everything went fine. I'd hate to deal with these guys if anything went off-script, though. read more

This is by far the worst rental company I've ever dealt with. A warning to anyone that needs accessible service. This was my experience with Florida Van Rentals. 1. AAA discount- didn't get it 2. Renting a specific van to accommodate the disabled passenger in need- you'll get what they give you, you'll even be ignored when you bring the mistake to the attention of the company. It's not that I rented a Tesla and got a Vibe that caused alarm. A specific van was reserved to meet the need of the disabled passenger, more of a medical necessity for supervision/ wheelchair accessible need during transportation. This is a company that serves those in need, right? At least that's what I was told on my BBB reply from their company spokesperson. 3. If you need an Accessible airport shuttle service from a company that only rents accessible vans be prepared to have a plan B. At least that's NOT what you'll be told when calling. CAUTION: FVR will hype up their service for those in need upon inquiry, but after rental is paid for, you are on your own... they'll also tell you there is an accessible shuttle, or a "courtesy shuttle", although there is a charge on your itemized bill for the airport. Honesty is free, isn't it?? So much for courtesy, ehh?? It gets better... when the accessible shuttle isn't available, you'll be expected to either carry on your disabled family member into the shuttle, or prepare for a whole lot of back and forth. Wait for a shuttle, be driven to get the rental on the shuttle, drive back to the airport, and finally begin you vacation. Hold on a second... fingers crossed its the van you thought you rented and paid for. In our nightmare rental, the van was NOT what we reserved (this company also reserves the right to do what they want, you get what you get, after all they are doing you a favor, but you'll pay the price with a sprinkle of a lot of excuses, or just be ignored). 3. The website also mentions delivery. Are they talking about delivery of a vehicle or bad service? Going above and beyond for the customer, Blah blah blah. I emailed the billing department who processed my rental to disclose not getting an accessible shuttle, having to carry my disabled daughter onto the shuttle because the accessible one didn't show up, not getting the van i reserved, also mentioned incidentals about the van, after all that was happening, I could see being charged for the noticeable damage, broken door, and broken turn signal. I was told they sent that email to customer service. In the email I asked for the rental that my family member required to be delivered to our rental home, along with concerns of the back end of the van shaking; was it a tire, or back end alignment? No response- crickets..... The van must not have been service after the last customer, or the broken turn signal would have been noticed. More false advertising for delivery and fixing mistakes... This rental was not for the need of those able bodied that rode in the van, it was for the disabled person who requires an accessible vehicle for safe transportation. I rented this vehicle in good faith for my adult daughter that has unique medical needs and relies on a wheelchair for mobility. Two days before we left, I began inquiring about the airport shuttle, would it be available? I was told, yes, that information was false! There was no shuttle to the airport. I was offered a 10% discount on another rental for future from they company spokesperson. Not an appropriate remedy for what was lacking. I requested a full refund on my daughters behalf for rental failure. These errors, lack of integrity and blatant disregard is mirrored behavior from whomever owns this company, the excuses and lack of follow through are 100% proof. Consistently FVR has proven they have zero respect for those they serve, no integrity to provide what is written on their website, and the employees follow suit with false information provided to customers. I have to say after renting a Jeep for a week, no one wants to rent or own one again. First the Jeep. I don't know what year it was but it definitely was not New or in any great condition from scratches to back soft window not closing properly blowing open every time we were on the road to a constant noise to the rear of the Jeep to the tires sounding like I was doing donuts while I turned into the drive way. We were so excited & the rental served its purpose for the week but I would never go through the hassle of renting from here again. The whole leaving a key on the bottom of the floor mat was shady plus the Bark Park & Fly was a hassle to drop & pick up the car especially when the people at the gate needed a full explanation each time as to why I didn't need a ticket & where I was renting the car from. I had an urgent move from Florida to Georgia and I couldn't have gone with a better company. I see previous reviews that left reviews for superficial reasons and i must apologize for their behalf. Over the summer my son's AAU Basketball team played a tournament out of state. We rented a 8 passenger van to transport all of our boys and the coaches to one of their biggest tournaments to date. We needed a large vacation vehicle for three adults and two teens mainly because the adults brought along their golf clubs. The process to rent is by far the most exhaustive spool of red-tape I have experienced. Two iterations of multiple documents requiring valid DL, insurance, coverage amounts, promise of my right kidney should I screw up their vehicle, etc. You will be required to provide all of your information upfront as well as make payment upfront a week prior to your scheduled pick-up. I understand now why everything is collected upfront. Note, this company does NOT have a desk at the airport. You will never interact in-person with a human being who works for Florida Van Rentals. One day prior to arrival, I received an email with instructions as to how I would obtain my rental van. Wow, had to hop into a remote garage (private party) shuttle bus just to turn around and have to drive back to the airport an pick up the rest of my crew. I located my rental van with assistance from the shuttle bus driver, but then proceeded to get lost in the acres and acres of dark parking lot (10:30pm). Lucky for me, Southwest Airlines lost my golf clubs which occupied my wife at the counter while I found my way out of the parking lot. First impression... The van fleet is not new or current. We had a 2008 12 passenger van with 45K miles on it. Once we hit highway speed, 65mph, I noticed a shim/vibration in the front-end. My guess is the tires needed a re-balancing. We reached our destination about 90 minutes later and went to bed. The next morning, we had to go grocery shopping. We piled into our van as soon as I started it, the check engine light came on. The gauges (oil pressure/temp/voltage) looked normal so I put it in reverse. I heard a beep and noticed on the cluster that the back-up sensors/bumper sensors to tell you if someone or SOME CHILD were behind the van were broken. I called to report the three problems with the van. I was told that I would have to drive the hour plus back into Orlando to get another, but at this time, they had no other vans as they were all being used. I figured I would get nowhere with them and they told me to keep driving it with the check engine light on. Day 4, the rear blower motor (for the rear air conditioning) stopped working. I was the driver and the front blower kept working but I felt bad for everyone in the back considering it was hitting 94 outside all week. I figured it was not even worth calling on the AC blower motor issue at this point since I did not have the time to drive back into Orlando in hopes they would swap my van... or perhaps, I was fearing getting a different van with a new issue list. All in all, FL Van Rentals offers a specialty... I guess if I ever needed a van again while in Orlando, I would probably use them again. Just beware, you will probably question your decision at some point. read more

You will pay for a delivery fee and apparently either these people are deaf or dumb because they have a sketchy way to deliver: Instead of having someone drop off the car to the airport, these lazy people who are egregiously incompetent sent the car to some off airport parking lot a mile and a half away. A handicap vehicle, for a disabled person, they PARKED A CAR 1.5 MILES A WAY TO BE PICKED UP VIA SHUTTLE SERVICE WHICH DID NOT HAVE A WORKING ACCESSIBLE VAN TO RETRIEVE THE VEHICLE. Apparently these people don't understand the word delivery. They will send your car to some 3rd party sketchy parking lot with rude drivers who get mad when you don't tip them because they're rude and have you pickup your car with the keys under the mat like some weird drug deal. 2. You are not going to pay for what you get: We ordered a SIDE ENTRY VAN. Again either these people are deaf or dumb because what we picked up was a rear entry P.o.S. This car wasn't new, it had a steady check engine light to let us know that driving the P.o.S would be like playing Russian roulette of the highway. Then what ever spiderweb they threw in the back calling it a seatbelt was not at all able to be utilized for the purpose to, you know, keep a person from flying out the windshield. The steering wheel needed to be realigned the front right tire was flat and if all that wasn't bad enough......... there was a constant stretching noise whenever I turned the wheel. 3. Customer Disservice: My Wife called to explain that this is NOT the car she ordered. She explained the issues with the seat belt and further more she said all of the problems mechanically. I mean this car moved like it had asthma. And the guy said to her that her chair was suppose to just fit in the space in between the two backseats. My wife's chair did not fit as it is a bigger style of wheelchair. I am puzzled as to how they just assumed that her chair would fit when they never asked for the height and measurements of her chair to make a sound determination. They made no effort to change the vehicle for one with a side entry, telling her well this 24/ hour number we gave you can not bring out no one until Monday (it was Saturday Morning). He told her to have me call in to explain how to work the seatbelt that she can't clearly use because her wheelchair did not fit in between the seats to begin with. How freaking condescending? I tell you that my wife can't get into the space for the seat belt to even work properly and your response is to conference on the mechanics of a seat belt because obviously I must not know how to put one on. I mean I only have a disabled wife with a more updated vehicle equipped with seat belts back home but you're right this is clearly a user issue!! This rental company turned our family vacation into a nightmare. We put our trust in a company that claims to specialize in providing a safe and reliable transportation system to disabled people but clearly that is not the service we received. Because we were left with no other choice but to utilize the vehicle that was given to us, it was extremely disheartening to watch my wife cling on to the sides of the car to prevent her from sliding out of her wheelchair at every stop light. It was even more scary to see the pain written all over her face every time she entered the vehicle in fear of flying out of the window if (God forbid) we got into an accident. This awful experience took away from our family vacation because not only were the adults worried about her safety but so were the children who made it their mission to hold on to their mother to prevent anything from happening to her. To have paid for a service that we did not receive is one thing but to have called for help and be ignored is by far inexcusable. Florida Van Rentals just doesn't get it. They are not in the business to service the disabled community. These people put keys under the mat for people who may have physical difficulties like Muscular Dystrophy like my wife and don't think maybe not everyone in the population we serve can lift a mat and go underneath a tall vehicle and retrieve the keys. They clearly are a incompetent company that does whatever they want to do and does it with the intention to make a quick buck and all at their convenience, not the customer. They use bait and switch tactics, deliver the wrong P.o.S vehicle and refuse to issue a refund or service. This is not a company that understands the opportunity it has or the demographic it serves. What idiot brings a vehicle for disabled people 1.5 miles away if you are delivering it? You could have hired a task rabbit for $15 bucks to drop it off door to door if your lazy ass didn't want to get up and go to the airport. What company who has not passed 3 stars in any review in yelp doesn't rectify the concerns made. But I get it, you give out P.o.S vehicles because you run a sub par company. read more

My family came to enjoy a vacation in Miami with my handicap cousin and from the very beginning wasn't nothing but problems. The van's handicap ramp wasn't working, tank not filled with gas and a expensive parking ticket for the van...and this was just the beginning. They replace the 70,000 miles van with another even worst. To make a nightmare story short, they tried to charge us for the gas even though we topped the tank, extra miles that we never drove, etc!!! Where do I begin? I've rented a Jeep Wrangler with them in March of 2017 and I was very dissatisfied with the car condition and overall service. Lets start at the beginning: They are located off airport and once I arrived at the parking lot where the car was supposed to be - I had to spend 45 minutes waiting for the car to arrive because they couldn't find the driver. Second, I've reserved car seats for my kids and the car arrived with incorrect car seat, so I had to drive to their HQ to change the car seat (the driver that dropped off the car disappeared before I even had a chance to look at the car). Third, the condition of the car: at first walk-around the car had a lot of dents and scratches. The soft-top on the car was so bad that it in certain places ( by doors, etc) it created gaps from the body and was constantly flapping as you drive and flowing cold air ( onto the kids). The Traction and tire pressure lights were on for most of the time. The handle to adjust a passenger seat fell off and we had to store it in the pocket, so it doesn't get lost. The automatic windows were not working ( it had both automatic console buttons and manual controls - weird!), the mirror adjustment was also not working for either side.The back seat had chips and other crap on it, so they didn't even bother vacuuming the car before renting it out. Finally, we are getting to the service side: when I drove the car from the parking lot to the headquarters lot I told them this is the worst rental I've ever had ( and I rent many cars) and they wouldn't even consider refund ( even when I offered for them to keep $100 as early cancellation fee)... they claim that if you cancel with them - they keep your money for a year as credit...I asked them to get the Owner on the phone as he was not in office ( somewhere in South Florida) and I was told he is not willing to lose this money and they will not refund. Even acting Manager (Ted) who said he will give me a discount and I should email him - has not responded to my email. Worst experience ever and I would NEVER rent again from this place and everyone should Steer clear of this dump. read more

Couldn't find a reasonable price for a van rental in all of Orlando until I googled Florida Van Rentals. Not only reasonable prices but excellent customer service. I had personal correspondence with the Manager Mike and he was very accommodating and helpful. I signed a contract with Florida Van Rental for a minibus. The day I was to pick it up I received a phone call. The minibus was no longer available because the last renter put diesel fuel in it instead of unleaded. While I can understand that this was not their fault it wasnt our fault either and we were greatly inconvenienced the day before the trip!!! I now had no where to put luggage on a 15 passenger van. So I was given a van with wheelchair trailer to carry the luggage in. Now I had to find a driver for the van-this was not in the budget. So I finally ended up driving. I called during the trip and emailed after the trip regarding no cold air blowing from the air conditioner in 90 degree weather. I have not received a response and was so disappointed. We ended the trip and came home. After weather cooled down I returned the vans. Exhausted and heated. I will not be using this company again!! The heat was unbearable-only blowing hot air. read more

This is the 3rd time I have rented a van with Florida Van Rentals and every time it's been a wonderful experience. The staff is always super helpful, the van is always clean and with a full tank of gas. Additionally, I really appreciate their contactless process with all that is going on today.
