The bartender seemingly a seasoned gentleman who appeared to hate his job so much that he could not even smile or look in my direction as he had a total of maybe six people at the bar. He did point me to the front desk after he spoke the words just go to the front and they'll help you. I came in from side entrance, carrying my bag in my clothes. Which should've given it away... At least he pointed me in the right direction. I guess. I made it to the front desk where Gillian and (Justin -maybe- he was quite but seemed to be accommodating) let me use a charger for my phone and offered me the option to sit at the bar and she would come find me when the Instacart driver arrived. Also, she pointed me towards the front entrance as I came in Beach side, apparently. I am grateful that she was spot on as driver did show up exactly where she thought! My overall feel is probably skewed because there was some kind of occasion that people were in the lobby being photographed and having fun! I was surprised at how artistic and upscale the interior of this hotel was that I didn't even realize a hotel all of these years! I've driven a bazillion times and never knew there was this hidden jam of a place there is right in plain sight on Lido Beach! My poor wife with a bone on bone knee recovering from a t-bone to the driver door at 40MPH car accident, had to walk the many blocks to FST where we spend hundreds per year and thousand$$$$ per year going to Sarasota restaurants ever time we go to a show. If you're not a local you WILL get a ticket. Parking enforcement is a problem, overzealous workers giving out tickets to tourists who are non-familiar with their predatory practices. A sour experience as I walked the downtown area. Had Vietnamese food at a local restaurant, only to come back and see an infraction ticket left on my windshield for not so clear rules. If you're a tourist contesting the parking citation, they will add another $8 to your fine. And after that, they keep adding even more fees when you try to pay online, as they use a third-party company to process the fines. They label the additional fees as "convenience fees". Convenience for who? Obviously not for you, but for them as they laugh their way to the bank after taking tourists money. They know you're a tourist and they're out to get you! There are no real attractions in the town other than hair salons and cheap eatery places. Save yourself the trouble, best to stay in St. Pete or Tampa areas where there's a ton of sites to explore.

It's pretty consistent - I'm not sure what their secret is- how they manage to thrive while other malls are dying- how they stay so clean and free of groups of troublemakers, but they are! It is a favorite with pedestrians, runners and walkers, fishermen, mommas with baby strollers, tourists, bicyclists, and dog-walkers. There is a walkway built on the bridge, which measures about .6 miles one way or 1.3 miles there and back. Good exercise. You can also walk over to the Bayfront Park in Sarasota, which is located on the north end of the bridge. Bird Key Park is located at the south end of the bridge. Both parks are worth visiting. At night, the bridge is lit up with bright royal blue lights. In the evenings, it is pretty crowded with people watching the sunset! I love it. We traveled over it at least twice a day while we stayed in Sarasota.
