Not really a review but is your beef from Florida or is it a type of beef? Is your name Florida? Flo-Rida beef? Thanks for letting me know!

Sort of a Texas style place, with chilli and potatoes. The names are unique, and don't be afraid to ask what things are. The portions are not huge, so you can try different things. This is an owner operated business, so you're likely meet the owner and there and they have been doing this for quite a while. Seating inside is limited, but the outside seating nis now covered. It's great. If you haven't been in a while, come back and try out the new menu.

Their menu is focused and concise, which I always appreciate - it suggests they do a few things really well. There's counter seating inside if you want to watch the action, and some high-top tables out front for enjoying the neighborhood buzz. I took a chance on the pork sausage with sauerkraut, and it was spot on. The portion size was definitely satisfying. Pro-tip: Definitely add jalapeños and spicy brown mustard for a fantastic kick! I'll definitely be back to try some of their other offerings and would absolutely recommend this place if you're in the area. Just a heads up that their hours are a bit limited, but its location right next to a bar makes it a perfect stop for a tasty bite before heading in for happy hour.

If it were not for a friend, I would not have heard of Grey DC Market. Not sure how others found…read moreout - I overheard someone saying it was in City Paper. Not sure if the location moves, but when I went, it was at the Emergence Community Arts Collective. A $2 fee allows access to many food & beverage vendors, almost all of which have samples. You could get full on the samples alone, but you should really buy something, and you will want to, because everything is quite good. I mainly went for one reason: Haitian pâté (patties) from Mezanmi. My understanding is that since the closing of Chez Yonyon, the DMV is sorely lacking Haitian food, and I definitely miss it (ok, crave it) from my Massachusetts days. Haitian pâté is in puff pasty and the meat is less ground up than the Jamaican version you may be familiar with. I think the Haitian version is way tastier, and these definitely were. Plus, for $1, you could add a side of pickleez. Moving on from that, there were a lot of baked goods vendors, plus vendors selling juice, empanadas, sofrito, tacos, pierogis, and various sandwiches (pork, sausage, etc.). I sampled the juice (yummy) and various sweet treats, all of which I liked. I ultimately decided to go for an ice cream sandwich: maple bacon ice cream with bacon bits between two thin waffle cookies (sort of like pizzelles, but without anise). Though melty, this was amazing. The ice cream was not overly sweet, and the cookies were still crisp, even though the item was cold. Plus, there were plenty of bacon pieces inside the ice cream. This was from a vendor called Suga Mama Sweets (you can find their products on the lobster truck during Truckeroo as well). While I liked the location because there was plenty of parking, there was minimal seating and shade, so that was a bit tough. But, I definitely can't wait until the next Grey DC.

And fortunately, I found one that was perfectly right and proper! Before entering, Right and Proper had me won over with their outdoor mural paying homage to Duke Ellington and a who's who of local DC jazz heroes. Upon entering, I was even more blown away by their elaborate and wild indoor murals, especially the dog & cat bathroom art, and the EPIC animal battle centerpiece! Since I came towards the end of their night after the Brewers pizza party at Andy's Pizza, I wasn't particularly hungry. But I did make note of their cheese counter, where you could purchase offerings like Midnight Moon, Willoughby, and Morbier by the plate or to go by the pound. They also had a good selection of handhelds, appetizers, dinner, and brunch offerings. However, the best thing might be that, during the unpredictable government shutdown, they had the option to pay a meal or a beer forward to a neighbor in need. I also managed to enjoy their Brussel sprouts that delivered a pleasant umami bomb with its sweet Thai chili sauce and crushed peanuts. For beers, they had a right and proper mix that went beyond the IPA overload, while also having good ones like their Big Tomorrow west coast IPA. Their flights came at a reasonable price and allowed me to enjoy offerings like their Haxan robust porter, Senate Maerzen Marzen Oktoberfest style ale, and Super Carina Italian Pilsner. Factor in all of the above and a good selection of brewery games and table spaces, and they had everything I look for in a solid brewery!

Whether you're…read moresitting inside by the mural or grabbing a spot near the windows, the atmosphere is always inviting and authentically DC. The Food: We kept it simple this visit. I went with the Thai Chicken Wings and my friend had the Burger. Both were perfectly fine "pub grub"--solid options if you're hungry while grabbing a drink, even if they didn't necessarily steal the show. They're reliable, standard bites that pair well with their tap list. The Service: This is where Right Proper really shines. The staff is consistently friendly and welcoming, which is exactly what you want in a local haunt. You never feel rushed, and the service keeps the good vibes going. While the food was a bit middle-of-the-road for us this time, the excellent service and neighborhood feel make it a place I'll keep coming back to. It's a great spot to catch up with friends, enjoy a unique house beer, and soak in the local energy.
