South of the Border is the ultimate "time capsule" of 1950s roadside America. It's unapologetically tacky, neon-drenched, and wonderfully weird. Is it a bit weathered? Yes. But it's a must-stop at least once in your life just to experience the sheer scale of Pedro's world. The Sombrero Tower: For $5, you can take a glass elevator up 200 feet. The view of the I-95 corridor and the surrounding Carolina plains is actually really cool, and it's a great way to stretch your legs after hours of driving. This is a photographer's playground. Between the giant Pedro statues, the fiberglass animals, and the vintage neon, your camera roll will be full. The Shopping: From fireworks at "Rocket City" to the most random souvenirs you didn't know you needed, the shops are massive.

The entire event space is worn out, rundown. Obviously, at this point, it's a gimmick come in and see this crazy stuff yada yada yada The gift shop is just overpriced cheap items. They had one cashier for the entire gift shop area. She was doing her best but seemed very overwhelmed. My son wanted to stop - so we did the last time I was here was 30 years ago, it seems the same.

It's only been open several years. The pool was clean and relaxing, and the staff made us feel very welcome. There are great amenities like a playground, volleyball and basketball courts, and even a dog park and fishing ponds. Very clean bathrooms/showers. It's a great place for families and anyone looking to relax and have fun. Highly recommend!

Super nice RV park. I'm going to go with "Likely nicer than 97% of the RV Resorts you will ever…read morestay at." The place is new, clean, super organized. Easy to pull through. It has one of the best designed traffic flows I have seen. You drive to the back, find your row, take a left and pull into your slot. Look on their web site if this doesn't make sense. It's super easy. Every site is a very flat concrete pad with plenty of room. All roads are asphalt and are in perfect condition. It's the easiest place to get into and out of that I have seen. They have all the expected connections at every site. No cable, but there are more than two dozen channels available via antenna. They pick up your trash. Super nice pool. Golf carts for rent. Places for kids and dogs. The grass is very nicely maintained. The place is secure with a real gate that they give you a card to open. Everything here is first rate. The staff was super nice. We got an Amazon delivery but we're off at Bald Head Island near closing time they called us about it and we said just leave it by the door... someone took the time to bring it to our site! While you are there, definitely take the ferry out to Bald Head Island. It's not far. I definitely recommend this place and honestly will say that it deserves more than five stars.

A pet-friendly journey for sure. The store looks well-stocked with cold drinks for all ages, local brews, some souvenirs and RV supplies, and a few groceries. This is a passing-through kind of KOA as it's right on the highway, but the sound wasn't the worst. We didn't peek at the facilities as we were too busy hiding in the AC of our RV, but the WiFi was strong, and it was a perfect spot between Savannah and DC, with yummy eats nearby. We'd come back.

The reservation and check-in was easy and our site was ready upon our early afternoon arrival. The staff in the office was very friendly and explained all the ammenties and drew the directions to our site on the map provided there was no escort to our site but it was very easy to find and get set up. The site was very level and all the utilities were in excellent condition, we were at site 41 which is one of the premium sites which included a large concrete patio with a few chairs around a sunken fire pit and another high top table with four chairs which all looked fairly new. This site was very clean and there was plenty of room between all the sites unlike a lot of KOA Campgrounds. This KOA worked out perfect for us and one I will gladly recommend to others and one I will definitely stay at again if traveling to or through the area...
