Although it's not the comfiest place to kick it for three and a half hours for a race, it was a really good experience, and the owner, Karen, is an AMAZING mixologist!!! There were six of us and we sat at the bar facing one TV she set up for us to watch the race on. There was one other group on the other side of the bar, about eight of them, I think. Everyone was eating and drinking and I, being the DD, was only allowed to have one drink per hour BOO. But, I made the most of it. Karen REALLY knows how to make an old fashioned and when I asked her to make one with her best Mezcal, she did and it was FABULOUS. My bestie, wanted a Mezcal cocktail, too and Karen made her one with apple and jalapeno that she loved. The boys drank giant beers. We also tried out some nachos, wings and my dad got a baked potato. The potato was the only disappointment in the experience because it was on the hard side, but otherwise, we had a fun afternoon and really enjoyed getting to know Karen. Its right next to Puerto Nuevo, so a nice place to have cocktails before your lobster dinner and ask Karen to make you something delicious. She really is awesome. Also, if you have some sports memorabilia you're letting go of, a donation helps this SPorts bar have a lot of fun decor to look at. They even have a front bumper of one of Joey Logano NASCAR Fords. Will DEFINITELY return and totally recommended.

For starters, this place is Michelin recognized, and was rated best breakfast in the world in 2015…read moreby FoodieHub. I told myself if I'm ever in the area again, I have to make an effort to eat at this place. Well, the opportunity arose as I was staying at a nearby winery. The biggest problem I encountered was finding a ride to get to this restaurant. Taxis are nonexistent in the area. Ubers are only in the area when someone from Ensenada requests a round trip to the area, so no they are not available to others. Therefore, I expressed my frustration with the front desk at my winery hotel and they took on the task of finding me private transportation. About 40 minutes later, they called my room to inform me that they located a driver. Unfortunately, he requested an inflated price for the to and from the restaurant. Private drivers down here know that you have few choices, therefore, they can ask inflated prices. Yes, I was in a pickle, but I really wanted to go. I did not rent a car because many of the roads hug cliffs and everyone drives fast, because they know where all of the mountain curves are. Being from Chicago, where we also drive fast but don't have mountain cliff roads decided to play it safe and let others do the driving for me. Anyhow, I debated, and in the end agreed to the expensive terms because when I going to get the opportunity again to eat at a place rated best breakfast in the world? How was the breakfast? It was absolutely delicious, everything was made from scratch. I ordered the cafe de la olla which interprets into coffee from the pot because typically it is prepared with raw sugar (piloncillo), canella (cinnamon sticks), and orange zest. How was the coffee? Delicious. I had some machaca (small bits of dried beef) with eggs which came with delicious refried beans. I also ordered the excellent chilaquiles with an egg and a side of bacon. I also needed to order the one thing most talk about on their menu which is the corn bread pancakes. They used the recipe for a typical corn bread sold down here called pan de elote to make the pancakes, and yes, they were excellent. Turning the batter from this recipe into pancakes was a brilliant idea. Also, I cannot leave out the great tasting freshly made corn tortillas that came with the food. The tortillas down here taste different from the ones back in Chicago because down here a white heirloom corn is utilized rather than the sweet yellow dent corn from the Midwest. Was it the best breakfast that I have ever had in Mexico, or anywhere else for that matter? Well, it definitely lived up to the hype the breakfast was amazing and I do highly recommend it. If you do decide to visit, my best advice is show up early because a line forms very early. I have been lucky to have also had other amazing breakfasts in Mexico and other places in my travels. The secret to this restaurant sits right behind it. On the restaurant grounds is an active ranch, which also doubles as a small zoo, where they source their milk and meats from. Yes, they raise their own animals which later become items on the menu. Does that fresh matter? Yes, it absolutely does make all of the difference. Does it sound cruel? Well, that is a whole other conversation. Let's just say the animals are treated humanely. All of the livestock looked happy as they roamed around the grounds. Unlike the way livestock is treated inhumanly in the United States in dirty overcrowded housing where some never get to see the sun or roam freely in the open air. Livestock in the US are constantly given antibiotics and growth hormones, also fed gmo feed with questionable health implications for those that consume them.

We get there right before it opens and they sit us down right away. I thought that was awesome. Some places will wait until they officially open. Even while just opening it was a festive atmosphere and the employees were amazing. My wife had the Diabla shrimp plate and I had the three taco platter I choose the birria and Korean tacos and they were amazing and had a different twist to them. You get to choose from various ones. This place is very instagramic and you may be paying a little bit more but in my opinion it is well worth it. We had the Miche mango blended drink and I ordered the Cadillac Margarita. They were very good and reasonably priced as well. The grand finale was the churro cart. What a show. Definitely worth some social media posts. We really enjoyed this place and hope it makes a comeback

I figured it was only a matter of time…read more When we went here, both times it was fairly busy, but not packed, and the service took wayyy longer than expected to get our orders taken and food brought out to us. I believe this restaurant banked on the fact that it was in Little Italy within downtown so they could charge extra for everything. Nothing you would get food or drink wise felt it was justified and the food was really plain or didn't taste good. Ambiance was a bit of a mess too since it seemed to try and mix a lot of different themes together which didn't work out too well. I think it was for the best this business moved on. Let a new restaurant take it's place that can do a better job in the night life scene, or try something new and different.

There's food and drinks. I did enjoy the guacamole which was reasonably priced. However I would not recommend anyone go there, I hope people visiting read this review and decide to skip it. I've had many great experiences in Mexico and a few bad ones, this one stands out more than some. I prefer to drink cheap red wine, from experience I know that when you don't confirm the price you can get charged whatever. So at this place I made sure to order directly from the menu, I said what I wanted, I pointed to what I wanted on the menu, sure there is a language barrier, but not that significant. Wine was tasty, but nothing special. When the bill arrived I quickly noticed that my 150 peso wine was rung up at 370 peso instead. This was more than the price of everything else we ordered including a huge serving of guacamole and a shot of what was meant to be a moderately priced tequila. I alerted the person who seemed to be the manager that this had occurred, he briefly spoke to the bartender who insisted he had showed us the bottle of wine and we agreed to this one in it's place. This did not happen. I protested that it was not what I ordered and that I did not thing I should have to pay more than double for being given something I didn't ask for. He wouldn't budge, he knows there is nothing that we can do about it. There's really no choice but to pay, write a bad review and try to remember to avoid this at all costs on our next visit. I hate that it put a bad taste in my mouth for my visit to Ensenada. I just hate when people are shady on purpose. Go somewhere else where they have more integrity.
