My husband and I stopped in to look at kitchen cabinets, and flooring about a year ago, even though we were not ready for purchasing cabinets or flooring since we were still in the demolition stage of renovating our future home which we told the salesperson/ manager that was showing us around the store and answering our questions. She said she had a couple bathroom vanities that were returned in the back of the store in the storage area that she'd like to show us and if interested she'd give us a great price for them. We informed her we had no where to put them, and she said we could keep them there and pick them up when we were ready for them. We bought them and she had an employee wrap the two vanities in plastic and put our last name on them. The salesperson/ manager even wrote on our receipt " will hold until ready", and " We will be holding this vanity sets for them in the rafters until their home is ready for installation. Well we are now ready to install the vanities, so I called Floors & Kitchens Today on Friday, October 2nd to find out how late they stayed open till (thinking their hours may be different due to the pandemic) during week and to inform them that my husband and son would be picking up the two vanities. The employee said he would look into it and call me right back, he never returned the call. I called Floors & Kitchens Today back later that same day and the same person answered and told me he could only find one of the vanities and he'd have the employee in charge of the storage area look for it on Monday. On Wednesday October 7th I visited the store planning to get a refund on our entire purchase if they couldn't find the other vanity. A female employee, I immediately noticed wasn't wearing a face covering mask, asked how she could help me and I told her the above. She informed me the salesperson/manager that sold us the vanities never returned to work once the coronavirus pandemic started and that she and the other employee sitting next to her had divided all of her customers that they needed to call and we should have received a call from one of them but they had our purchases listed in the computer as already picked up and that is why we didn't receive a call from them to inform us they wanted us to get them. The missing wrapped vanity with our last name on it they actually resold and that is why it was coming up in their computers as picked up. I showed them the paperwork and receipt, along with the managers writing stating "hold till ready", now again I'm dealing with the male sales employee I talked with on the phone and he was instructed by the owner of Floors & Kitchens Today, to not give us a refund but the sales associate took a picture of what was written by the manager at the point of sale to "Hold till Ready " in hopes that the owner would honor what his manager had told us and included in writing, I asked the associate to have the owner call me or my husband by Friday the 9th to discuss this, no one called. Friday, October 16th, my husband and I both visited the store, the associate said the owner wouldn't give us a refund. We had the sales associate get the owner on the phone as we couldn't believe this is the way a business owner was going to handle a customers problem with his store. The owner disregarded what his former manager told us and also wrote in two places on our receipt and said to my husband "As a good gesture I will let you take the other vanity" (the one wrapped up with our name on it that he didn't resell! )... he went on saying that we where supposed to have it pickup in 90 days as stated in the fine print on the back of the receipt and there is restocking fees. I needed to speak to the owner myself, I got on the phone and said so I can't believe this, you have resold our paid for vanity, and your making it sound like your giving us the other one "as a kind gesture"! WE PAID FOR TWO VANITIES, THERE IS NO GOOD GESTURE HERE, AND YOU RESOLD ONE OF THEM. I informed him I would be warning all on social media about doing business with Floors & Kitchens Today at 421 Bedford Street in Whitman, MA, as soon as I said that, he demanded me to get out of his store and he was calling the police. I received a VERY NICE call from the police sergeant in regards to the matter and he told me that he even said to the store associate why didn't you just give them a refund? The police also gave me many other great places to report consumer grievances, such as the town hall the business, Better Business Bureau, and small claims court. For the amount of money this store owner is not refunding over $650. the police officer said he would definitely take him to smalls claims court. I feel bad for the employees that work for this jerk, if he treats his customers this way, I can't imagine how he treats his employees. read more
