I needed a handyman to repair sections of 2 exterior door frames that had received damage during an…read moreunauthorized entry attempt at my apartment and I wanted to pass the move-out inspection and have my security deposit returned to me without any deductions. I have to say, my apartment isn't in the best shape; the foundation is uneven, the walls within are crumbling and everything is being held together by duct tape... Brownell was quick to contact me. When he called, he was very informative and professional. He had availability the next day, so I received a fair quote and decided to move forward. I booked him for the following week and felt a sigh of relief. The day before the appointment, he called to confirm and even texted the morning of at 7am to say he was en-route. At 8am, he was at my apartment with everything he needed. I quickly showed him my problem and figured he would just spackle the cracks in the door frame and call it quits. Instead, he removed the damaged boards from the back door and replaced them with new boards. He even purchased white boards to match my door, so I didn't have to paint the trim to match the door. This door had been kicked in so the lock mechanism was missing and only being secured with a latch lock. I didn't feel safe the whole time it was broke. He fixed the inside of the door jamb and I could lock it once again. A few minutes later, I had to run to the laundromat, so when I left he was removing the trim off the front door. He called when he was done and when I returned, the front door was fixed perfectly! Because, part of the door frames looked so new and I didn't want my landlord to know there had been damage, so I used a tea bag to stain it so it looked dirty and tattered like the rest of the door frame. (it worked!) I really appreciate being able to support a local minority business, especially during this time. But more importantly, I wanted a honest, qualified and reputable business and I got just that! I had previously dealt with a different handyman who scammed me and a well known construction company who didn't provide the best service because my request was too small so I received sub-standard results... So, going into this I was skeptical and praying for a legitimate handyman. He was exactly that! I've passed his business contact onto everyone in my local area.
