Float Sixty staff was nice and helpful. The amenities were kept up. I just don't think floating is for me. Things that would improve the space (Room 1): -bathmat (maybe one of those slotted wooden ones). After my shower, when I was putting my clothes back on, the floor was wet everywhere and I had a hard time avoiding water on my socks and pants. -before and after the float, you must shower. The room has an automatic shutoff for the light. I didn't know this when I got in the pre-float shower and the room went dark. I had to keep waving my hand to make the light go on. It would be helpful if the staff reminded first time users of this -I could still hear quite a bit of sounds even with the ear plugs. I'm assuming that's because the tank I was in is not fully soundproof... This is not a big deal to me, but I expected it to be quieter. As a first timer, I really wish I had brought a change of clothes with me. I was feeling refreshed after my float and multiple showers and was now putting on clothes that had been worn for a bit of the day. My fault, not Float Sixty! But I would recommend anyone to bring a little bag with fresh clothes. They provide shampoo, conditioner, etc but if you are picky, you should bring your own products. read more

I absolutely loved my experience at Float Sixty today - the staff was kind, informative, and welcoming. I felt safe and relaxed throughout my entire experience. I will most definitely be back! I loved the attention to detail, cleanliness, and mediation room. The variation of float tanks is great as well - I can't wait to try the different options. The rooms were zen and spa-like which made me feel at ease and ready for meditation. The only reason I have not given the business 5 stars is because of the sound system in the tank, it was of poor quality and quite jarring after the float! Not that big of a deal though :) read more

A totally unique experience! I had no idea what to expect and was afraid of feeling claustrophobic but I didn't need to worry about that at all. We got there a little too early so we hung out in the relaxation lounge. The front desk guy was super friendly and helpful. They sell CBD products at the front desk so my boyfriend and I tried some. My boyfriend went in the traditional samati float tank and I went in the white pod. The water was so thick. I floated effortlessly I actually fell asleep. I thought it was funny because in the beginning of my float I wanted to dip my toes in the water a couple times and I could feel the water fighting against me as I tried to dip my toes while floating. There are a few things I'd like to do differently next time. I think the water should have been a little warmer, and I think it is important to note that once you are done floating to get up slowly. I was so relaxed by this experience that when I got up to walk afterwards my legs felt like jelly. Next time I wouldn't plan anything else after wards- except dinner. I was so hungry, thirsty, and loopy/relaxed after this experience. I definitely want to go again. It was nice to spend an hour cutting out all distractions and being with just myself. read more

Wasn't sure what I'd think about this. After a particularly tough marathon, I thought I'd treat myself and give it a try. It was everything I had hoped for. I booked the largest tank, because I wasn't sure how I'd react in the closed space. Honestly though, it was so dark I don't think I could tell the difference. The room itself was small but comfortable. Ample shower. The pod had options for music or not, lights or not. I chose silent darkness. For the first few minutes, I thought I'd get antsy but then I slowly drifted off into a completely relaxed state, somewhere between sleep and consciousness. My hour long session flew by and I'm looking forward to going again. read more

I would give this place 10 start if I could. First off, they've thought of nearly everything. You get: ear plugs, makeup remover, petroleum jelly (all in individual disposable packets). There's a spray bottle of water in the tub in case you forget where you are and rub your eye, getting salt water in your eye (not that I did that the first time, twice, or anything). There's a nice little room to chill in after your float where you can enjoy tea, books, and even some colored pencils/markers. They have hairdryers and some general post-shower stuff you might need. Everyone there is very nice and they're ready to answer any question you have. The place is definitely kept clean, too. If floating sounds interesting to you, my advice is to give it at least two tries. The first time, I spent a lot of my time just getting adjusted to the situation and getting used to it. The second time was much more relaxing and meditative because I knew what I was doing. read more

First time-floater. I had heard about Float Sixty from some friends and decided to try it out. The staff are so incredibly friendly and nice, the facility is clean and modern, too. I went to ease the stress load and it worked. You get into your private room, shower, and hop into the tank. They supply you with body wash, shampoo, conditioner and ear plugs. Being in the tank itself is a bit odd at first but you quickly get used to it. The hour was up before I knew it. Great experience! My hubby and I visited Chicago for a weekend and purchased their Valentines couple soak in Groupon. We've read the book Blue Mind by Nicolas Wallace. It talked about the neurological benefits of floating and resting your mind. We were intrigued and wanted to try it. The facility was easy to find and decorated so nice! I felt like I was in a spa. We arrived and the staff were so nice and welcoming. Don't be afraid of the waiver btw. It's incredibly intimidating if you read it all lol but I can almost guarantee you won't get injured here. We were taken right to our individual rooms and shown how to operate everything. You shower before going in the "bath" and put ear plugs in to keep water out of your ears. They supplied everything you'd need plus more. Ear plugs, qtips in case you got water in your ears, vinager for the same reason because it helps dissolve the salt, petroleum jelly to cover cuts so it won't sting, and makeup wipes. Once showered and ear plugs in, you enter this glass door and lay down in the body temperature water. It felt like I was floating in nothing. The ambient air temp and water temp was perfect. The tanks are filled with 13,000(I think) lbs of Epsom salt so you just float on the sense water for an hour. I turned off the lights (optional) and fell asleep floating lol at the end of my hour soak, a light signaled my time was up. I showered using their awesome shampoo and conditioner then met my husband in their tea room where we slowly came back to reality while sipping or tea. Our package came with a bag of Epsom salt to take home with us and some salter chocolate caramels. We didn't want to leave though lol they also had a little vanity section with beauty products like lotion, hairspray etc. and hair dryers and mirrors with beauty lights if you choose to reapply your makeup or do your hair before leaving. My friend and I recently came for our first float and had a wonderful time. Rochelle was great about giving us a tour and explaining how the experience would be. Room 2 was having some unexpected trouble so we got to enjoy the Hydra Cool chairs and supports while we waited for our service. Rochelle was great about making sure we were kept informed of delays related to our appointment and ensuring we were comfortable. I ended up using the pod in room 5 and my friend used room 1. We both felt peaceful and relaxed afterwards and were able to reflect on the experience together in the meditation room afterwards. I encourage the management to look into using softer lighting in the meditation room as the current lighting felt a little harsh after the ambient lighting of the float rooms but that's the only negative criticism I had of the experience and we ended up enjoying the complimentary tea in that room with the lights off which was lovely. I can't wait to come back and do it again. read more

Being an experience floater, having floated around the country.. This was my least favorite place. I typically go to SpaceTime tanks in chicago, but due to moving locations, this was my other option. Figured I would give it a try. There are a few various reasons why my experience was not so great. First, this was the first place I encountered that does not require you removing your shoes as soon as you enter... Your tracking all of the outside elements into the very room you are going into.. Kind of gross. Environment is a huge factor for in my decision. When coming to relax and take in a meditative experience, the last thing I want to do is walk into a place for relaxation that is ridiculously bright with lighting that reminded me of, hospital facility like atmosphere. Made me feel more on edge than anything. The shower curtains in the rooms were sort of gross. Mildew build up on the bottoms. And I felt that the tank was not as clean as it should be. I ended up not going the full time in my tank as I felt grossed out. Even with ear plugs, I'm not sure what the thumping or banging noise was that I was hearing. Afterwards, as where any of these facilities I have been in, it's generally super quiet. Not the case here.. There's vacuuming and employee conversations going that were audible. I have never been to a float facility where they vacuum during people's float sessions...? I normally would journal my visions or what I experienced in meditation, but as it was too noisy and distracting to reflect as I was trying to do, so said fuck it. And left. I feel like the employees here are not passionate about floating and the reason people do it. Place had a really off vibe. Not genuine. If you take floating seriously, in my opinion, avoid this place. I feel like it's trying to be mainstream rather than authentic and what the purpose is truly about. I will admit that I was a little skeptical about the sensory deprivation experience when I walked into Float Sixty, but I had recently been having so much trouble falling asleep and relaxing that I was willing to try anything (outside of taking sleeping pills). My body and mind were a wreck and a friend of mine recommended this place. Without going into too much detail about the actual float experience, I will say that I came out of it feeling pleasantly refreshed! I would put it at the equivalent of an extra few hours of restful sleep in just an hour! The tank they recommended for me (based on my situation) was the Samadhi (sp?). It is COMPELTELY dark and very quiet. I had never experienced floating on salt water before so the sensation itself took a few minutes to get used to. But once I was comfortable, I found myself thinking about very little else other than the sound of my own breath. And this itself was very calming and relaxing. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful... especially for a first time "floater" such as myself. They are probably used to clients who are over-worked and/or over-stressed so they go out of their way to make sure that you leave calm, relaxed, and rested. One of the staff even offered to pay my parking meter for me so that I wouldn't have to go out on the street right after leaving the tank. They wanted me to be as rested as possible before I needed to leave. Overall a very positive experience and one that I look forward to doing again when I need some time away from the world for an hour! read more

First time floating, and it was their first offical open day. It was beyond my expectations, both my float experience and the experience start to finish. They didn't and haven't missed any details - from location, decor, location, staff, retail items, and amenity offerings to the float itself. My shower was fine, although i felt like I was making a mess since its an open experience- took me about 60 seconds to realise this was a business based on water. They have great body wash and shower gels. The float was not what I was freaking myself out about. This was a room, not a tank (dying to try dark tank), with led lighting experience. Loved it. If i could choose speed and color choices I will next time. Now before I go into the float itself- I am high energy, work in spa operations, I work hard to make sure people are relaxed - meaning I have a very hard relaxing, napping, and turning my brain off. I seriously was relaxed, so relaxed, I slept. No clue how long but I did. Hard to explain the feeling and personal thought process. I tried different positions- arms down, up, legs to side. I floated, body mechanic felt not so stiff. I got out 2 minutes too early thinking I overslept, but as I was showering, I heard jets kick on... I wasnt late, just finishing on time. The owner, Gloria (i think!), was awesome & I can buy in because her passion was contagious. She introduced me to her DOO Lisa, who was awesome too. Lots of passion and belief - makes me want to be back. I bought some salts to use at home in my jacuzzi, and duuuuude my nightly baths just got ten times more awesome & my condo smells amazzzing. Such a relaxing hour! I wish I could do this an hour out of every day. For just a second, I want to address the people who want to do this, but are claustrophobic. I'm crazy claustrophobic and my panic attacks are triggered when I 1. can't find an exit and 2. get really hot. I chose the float pool over either tank and was quite comfortable, I don't think I could ever gloat in a tank, but the pool was a large enough space to not feel stuck or cramped. I found that it was quite warm in the studio, so I left the door to my float pool open for a little extra airflow. I closed it at some point during my float, but it was the perfect option at the beginning. For everyone else, I probably can't say much that hasn't already been said. The staff is very friendly, the studio is extremely clean, and the float is so relaxing. They give you just about everything you might need, ear plugs, loofah, shampoo/conditioner, etc. I just brought my own hairbrush and face lotion. My only complaint is that I felt I (and everyone with long hair) could have used two towels instead of just one for the post float shower. read more

My son and his girlfriend went to Float 60 and couldn't stop talking about how relaxing it was and what a unique experience it was. I purchased 2 gift certificates for my other son and his girlfriend for Christmas. Fast forward 8 months to August and he hasn't gone yet. Come to find out, he lost the certificates! I thought that I would just give it a try and see if Float 60 could do anything for me. I knew the date of purchase, but it was 8 months ago and it was a long shot. Fabulous first time float! I booked a pool suite - great space. It was easy for me to relax and settle in right away. Breathe and focus on your breath...enjoy. To note, I workout a lot (1-2x/7 days week), so I get sore - hamstring issues from overuse. I get PT for this, but I and my muscles honestly felt AMAZING post float. Even the next day I felt way less discomfort and muscle stress. I may need to get a membership so I can float once a month. Staff - super nice and accommodating - extra towels Suite - super clean - everything I needed with staff guided instructions Float - perfect temp, relaxed, calm and quiet - no salt in eyes. Post Float - I did not mind open area to dry hair. This provides the ample time to float and shower and for staff to clean for next guest. read more

FloatSixty has pretty much ruined me for other float places. I've been here twice and both times I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the facility, the rooms and especially the water in the tanks. The things that I like about floatsixty that I think differentiate this place from your normal sensory depravation tank experience is they purify the water with ozone, peroxide, uv and they have large open tanks. I tend to get claustrophobic in the typical samadhi tanks you find in most places. I swear they put way more magnesium salt than some of the other places I've been. For those who don't know, this is like an Epsom salt/magnesium bath on steroids. Magnesium is a natural muscle relaxer (among other things) and when I leave I'm always full of energy and no joint pain, back pain. I just go for the relaxation, replenish my magnesium and to get rid of my joint pains/back aches. I don't care about the sensory depravation part. In fact I have the lights on when I'm in there so it's like relaxing in a dimly lit warm pool at night. I found this place from a groupon and they have a good first visit special as well. I would have given them 5 stars but it's kinda pricey at$90 and in River North near all the nightclubs where I hate going. The two things I think they could improve on are: -The entrance with the call in buzzer is a hassle, confusing and very amateur hour. I almost gave up trying to enter the place. It didn't bother me but then I saw the next 3 people have the exact same problem that I did (you can see people rattling the outside door from downstairs). When more than one person has the same issue, you should be proactive and handle the obstacle. They should get a separate buzzer or a sign or explicit instructions to buzz "101" or whatever when you come in. -The pricing. I love the place and floating but honestly there's not really an incentive or customer loyalty program to come back. I saw the staff there try and gently pitch the package plans and the two sets of customers looked confused by the choices and a confused customer never buys. Overall, I had an enjoyable time both times I've been and would definitely recommend this place. read more

My husband treated me to a float session and I absolutely loved it. Will definitely be back. At 29 weeks pregnant this was one of the best things I have done for my body. The sensation of feeling weightless in the pool was absolutely incredible - especially given the kinds of strains my body has had with being pregnant. The fact that you have sensory deprivation also means that you are much more aware of your baby and his movements - it was like a bonding session for us two in there! I will probably continue to treat myself to the float sessions even after I am pregnant as the feeling of absolute calm and relaxation is something I was not expecting but was incredible. I slept so well that night (which is saying a lot in my current predicament) and felt in such a calm state the whole day. I agree with the previous review - it is a total body reset. It took just one visit to make me a fan. Everything that was described beforehand was delivered. The setting: peaceful and tranquil. The staff is very thoughtful and helpful. I was welcomed right away and given a brief tour and rundown of what to expect. The pre-float shower was right by the float tub and the post-float meditation room was comfortable and relaxing. The float: loved it. The water is enhanced with a huge amount of epsom salt so floating is completely without effort. The room is either completely dark or with soft lighting (your choice). Then you enjoy the wonderful sensation for 60 or 90 minutes to let your mind go wherever you'd like it to. After the float: separate meditation and reading rooms are available to use and hot yummy tea is brought to you. Me: I'm a novice meditator and casual practitioner of mindfulness, for whatever that's worth to you as you weigh these reviews. read more

I am never more at internal peace than after a float. When I do it a day after extremely intense yoga, I notice tremendous release in my muscles. When I leave the place, all sounds are highly exaggerated for several hours. I think this is a result of being so very quiet inside of myself (and I have read that it is a common side effect of floating). Floating is an exceptional experience if you like solitude, need to relax muscles, need to escape from the world to be quiet inside, need to let go, have suffered physical injuries (neck, back, limbs, you name it), including traumatic brain injuries, and more. If you are claustrophobic, the Samadhi and Pod are likely not for you, though I would recommend the baths. They say it takes at least 3 sessions to get accustomed to floating, though I took to it instantly. I thought the peace-inducing effects would lessen the more I float, but the opposite has happened. I go deeper and deeper into relaxation every time I float, which is saying something considering the profoundly quieting effect it had on me the first time. The only rooms that offer complete sound deprivation are the Samadhi and the Pod. Though the Samadhi offers the best sound deprivation, its engine makes a sound when the session finishes. They have resolved this by having music automatically turn on, but for me, I prefer quiet so I do not use it. I LOVE the Pod anyway, so I'm fine. I have read the negative comments about the public station for drying your hair. That is not really a deal breaker. I could guess and totally understand why they do that. They put out a lot of products and their hair tools are very expensive (high quality). I can only imagine how many in Joe Public would take these things if given a chance. That area is only noisy when there has been a group of people floating. In these instances, I think it would help if the employees would ask the people to keep their voices down. I've only noticed this group noise in this area twice in six months so again, this is not a deal breaker. The staff is unbelievably and sincerely friendly and helpful... like nowhere else of service that I have ever encountered. If I could give this place 100 stars I would. I highly recommend the floating experience and coming to this specific location. read more

My first time with this kind of experience. It was definitely interesting and relaxing, but unfortunately not for me. The staff was great and the facilities clean and nice. You can book online: always a plus (though it'd be nice if I could book it impromptu rather than a week or two in advance as was required). However, I found it really hard to breathe while floating and my lower back pain kinda kicked in. Perhaps my earplugs weren't properly placed, or maybe it's sensory magnification involved, but I could hear muffled talking and other noises fairly well. The relaxation room was two chairs in an alcove off the main lobby; frankly, I was more comfortable sinking into a big chair at the Starbucks around the corner right afterwards. I'd also recommend that they get some larger towels, because my room only had what looked like a large hand towel. read more

I love this place. And i am soooooooo glad they are coming to NWI. I definatly plan to go the the chicago location a couple more times because of an excellent offer on groupon. The staff was helpfull. The rooms are excellent and clean. I like the discount for first time floaters. I love that everything is provided for you. The float itself was excellent and i coild have stayed in there forever. The only issue i had was i didnt know th lights were automatically set to go off or that they were on a sensor. In the middle of my pre shower they went off. I did figure out that I could wave my hands but there was an initial (silent) freak out. And some of the shower was done in the dark. Just gove first timmers a heads up on the lights. Otherwise an excellent experience that i will definatly repeat. And now that you'll be in NWI hopefully (fingers crossed) by the end of summer. I am an experienced floater and normally after every float I can't stop gushing to everyone I know that it's an amazing experience and they MUST try it. I was looking forward to using a Groupon for this Float Sixty since it is just a few blocks from my office. I'm glad my experience a couple weeks ago wasn't the first time I floated, because if it had been I wouldn't be interested in doing it again. Every other place I've floated, you are asked to remove your shoes immediately inside the door and provided flip flops to wear while inside. Patrons at Float Sixty are not asked to nor is there really anyplace to remove your shoes when you arrive, so you're wearing your street shoes and tracking who knows what from the city sidewalk into the room with you. Not the end of the world, but I found it kind of off-putting. I opted for the float pod since that's what I've always used. The room smelled...bad. Bad like urine. The staff member who had walked me back to the room gave no indication that anything seemed amiss. After she left, I did some sniffing and determined that the smell wasn't coming from the pod so I let it go. I assume it was maybe from the shower area in the corner. Pretty gross and not conducive to relaxing or meditating. But like I mentioned, the smell wasn't from the pod and once I had lowered the lid I couldn't smell anything, so it didn't stop me from floating, but it was nasty. My float was fine enough. The lights in the room are on a timer, so even after taking the time for a thorough shower, for several minutes after I got in, I could still see the light. Which kind of defeats the purpose of a sensory deprivation experience. I would prefer they just advise patrons to just be sure to turn the lights out before they get in (there's a light inside the pod when the door's open so you'd still be able to see where you're going and not break your neck getting into the pod). Finally, this place uses waaaaay too much salt in the water. A thick salt crust formed on my skin that I couldn't get entirely off no matter how much I scrubbed in the shower afterward. Do not wear black clothes when you come here! I have washed the black pants I was wearing three times since my visit and I still haven't gotten the salt out from where the fabric rubbed against my skin while I was putting them back on. And I had SCRUBBED myself down after getting out of the pod. I love floating and I recommend everyone try it at least once. Just try it somewhere else. read more

Oh how I love Float Sixty, let me count the ways! I got some Gilt City vouchers for FS to try 60 minute float sessions and I was so thrilled to go. A friend of mine in Houston floats and that's how I heard about it. I actually started off in the Samadhi tank for my first float which is pitch black and completely devoid of any sound or light, which I loved. The only tiny qualm I had about this tank was that I felt like I wanted to stretch my arms out a bit wider, and when you are floating, if one of your pinky fingers even touches the side of the tank, you will wake up and sort of have to "start over" with relaxing and closing your eyes again and such. The second float I did, I decided to do the Float Pod and I LOVED it. This one is my favorite so far (still havent tried the pool - but don't know if I will). This one has a lot more room and is more wide to stretch your arms out. I also find it a lot easier to open and close the door to get in and out than the Samadhi. I realized on the first float I did that I forgot to ask the girl how I would know when my float was up, whether there would be a timer or not. There is no timer, you basically will feel some jets going off in the float tank and that is how you know your time is up. Before you float, you put ear plugs (which they provide) in your ears so no salt water gets in. Way easier to do this before you shower (before getting in) rather than showering, putting in the ear plugs, then getting in the pod because ears are 100% dry. So put in the ear plugs, take a shower using the body wash and shampoo (conditioner cannot be used BEFORE the float as they said this effects the salt solution) and get into the pod and float. After the float, you shower again with body wash, shampoo and now you can use the conditioner. I felt SO incredibly relaxed after floating. It is almost as if your body resets itself and your bones/muscles/tissues have been remineralized (which they have been). They have a little room where you can relax after your float and have some tea. I slept so well the night of my float, which says a lot because I sleep well usually. It was awesome and can't wait to go back!! read more

In today's fast paced world, taking a few minutes to focus on self-care is important. I recently decided that I needed to take a few minutes, 60 to be exact, and enjoy a float at Float Sixty. It was my first time floating and after a few days passed since I experienced it, I not only don't regret my decision to float, I'm already thinking about when my next float will be. For those that haven't floated before, let me break down the experience into some easy to understand points: 1. Is it claustrophobic? No. The float chamber is in a dedicated room (about the size of a typical downtown apartment bathroom) with a shower. Once inside the chamber, and your eyes adjust, you can see the whole chamber and the outer room through the glass door. 2. How much water is there? Will I drown? It's about 10-inches of water. You lay on your back, and because of the heavy salt content, you'll float effortlessly. I never felt in danger. 3. What's it feel like? At first your body takes some time to adjust to the sensation of floating and the sensory deprivation. After a short period, it's quite relaxing. 4. Any pointers? First, take the advise of the staff and wear earplugs. Second, try your best to not get water in your eyes. Third, for gents, don't shave the day you go. Finally, don't wear any clothing inside chamber. Wearing clothing will weight you down in the tank. In terms of the Float Sixty, I have nothing but compliments. The staff was inviting, is available to answer any and all questions, and will be do their best to put your mind at ease. They facility is easy to access and has some nice retail items to compliment the experience. Since it just opened, the whole business had a modern and clean feel. The tanks are totally sanitized after each session. For those that want to buy a multiple float package, they have some nice deals, including a membership structure. read more

The facility was clean and staff was super nice, unfortunately I had a hard time closing the front door to my room all the way, so a little light was escaping in. Also, even with the ear plugs, I could hear murmurs of conversations and noise from lobby area; it would have been nice if the tanks were soundproof better, perhaps book a tank further from lobby. The experience of floating was neat, something different, but the liquid in the tank slightly burned in feminine areas which made it a little uncomfortable. read more

I had my first float today. I was put off by the price but after the experience felt it was well worth it. I can't describe the effects floating had on me. It was a profound and deep meditative state. I was definitely very relaxed after. So much so I had difficulty moving from the float to the shower. The workers were helpful and thorough and the place was clean. My only complaint was the room was cold when I left the float room and got into shower and shower took a while to warm up. I still give 5 stars because it was an excellent experience and I am typically cold as is. I will be back! read more

Awesome float center. The interior is beautiful and spacious. The owner, Gloria, was working when I came in to float and was very friendly and knowledgeable. It was very clean and they have a nice selection of float tanks. This is one of those places in Chicago that you need to check out. I highly recommend committing to at least 3 floats. I had a wonderful first float, but it took me a bit to relax. By float 3, I was able to relax pretty quickly and get into some really cool meditative states. Happy floating! read more

I went in twice and I love it so much. It would be awesome if we have one like it in Virginia. If you ever come here for vacation and you need to relax, definitely go there, float freely and relax for one hour. It will be worthwhile. The staffs are so nice and very friendly.
