Such a great alternative to overpriced places near the Plaza!…read moreGreat beer, unique, tasty food. We had the picolis, gazpacho and a burger with onion strings. All delicious. Staff was friendly and attentive. (Here's a tip when reading bad reviews...always check other reviews written by that person. Usually, they only leave bad reviews. Too bad they can't find power elsewhere in their sad little lives.)

The fish is terrific; moist on the inside, crispy on the outside, not fishy; a really nicely done fried fish. The fries were a big miss! Last time they were overly salted, and we did mention this to the staff. This time, it was worse; not too salty, but everyone was unhappy with the texture. Some thought they were frozen (they had that frozen fry texture), but of course, they were not, we were told. The taste was OK, but after a few fries, none of us could eat any more. They all ended up in the trash. Too bad because the most challenging part of fish and chips is the fish, which Rowley's does very well. Chips? Nope! You can ask for a Caesar instead, but it's rather lackluster (more later). My wife had the Green Chile Tuna Melt, which was pretty good and unusual. They use wild yellowtail to make the salad, and it was a nice upgrade from the usual. Not fishy like Tuna can be (although if you like tuna salad, which we do, that's not an issue). Had a nice kick from the Chile, nice bread, etc. We recommend this dish. Came with a side Caesar salad, which was pretty bland. It's all about the dressing, of course, and this version didn't seem to have any anchovies I could detect, nor the necessary other ingredients to make it remarkable. Could have been ranch or any other 'white' dressing. Another miss. Tried the Roasted Brussels Sprouts, which were pretty good (need more roasting), and need the bacon as a default. The version at Box Car is far superior. But not bad here, not a miss. But better We also tried the Grilled & Roasted Vegetables topped with feta. This dish was delicious! A really nice side for those who want something healthy with their fried fish. The waiter knew we didn't like the fries, so he 'comped' us dessert, which was a very nice gesture. We tried the Bread Pudding and the Mango Cheesecake. The cheesecake was way too cool, so its texture was hard and not what I'd normally expect. There wasn't a trace of Mango I could detect. The crust was nice. Not a miss, but not something I'd order again. The bread pudding was pretty good, not the best in class, but more successful than the cheesecake. Not overly sweet, thankfully, but a bit dense. Service was very good! Our server was Gerson C, who got everything right. The kitchen served the food promptly, and everyone was served at once. But overall, too many misses for me to be convinced to go back.

I'll be dreaming of this burger! My husband and I each got one. The tater tots side was a huge amount and they were seasoned to perfection, super crispy. The coleslaw had a delicious flavor and cut through the heartiness of the burger. 5 stars for Second Street Brewery just for the Alien Burger!! Eat it, right now! The beers were a range of great to OK. The brown ale was our favorite! The bitter was very good. The two hazy IPAs were not great... When we arrived, the service experience was pretty confusing. We were told to order from different people, our server was overwhelmed with a big table, so we ordered from the bar. But the server excused himself and was really cool in the end. There's tons of seating inside, and an outdoor patio, so this is a great spot for groups. And we got to meet the Chef, he was so nice!! Gave him massive compliments on the burger ;) We will 100% be back to Second Street Brewery when in Santa Fe, I'll be fantasizing about their Alien Burger until then!! The restaurant strikes the perfect balance with a festive atmosphere that feels both authentic and incredibly comfortable. We ordered a mix of things, and every single dish was a hit. The combo enchiladas with both the green and red chile sauce were amazing, and even the rice had incredible flavor to it. The shrimp fajitas and shrimp quesadillas were absolutely awesome--the shrimp was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right. Their margaritas was huge and perfectly balanced and hit the spot. If you are looking for fantastic, authentic Mexican food with service to match, this is definitely the place to go. We will absolutely be back!

I'm not paying $20 for a meal I'll be able to eat six bites of. They don't bring out chips and salsa for the table, which is 78% of the reason to even go to a Mexican restaurant rather than making the food at home. Pity because it actually smells good. Edit: My son ordered the chicken enchiladas suizas, took four bites, and declared himself done. When I tried his refried beans and immediately had to spit them out, I understood why. Honestly, how is this place still in business? Refried beans shouldn't taste like Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits.

Not because of the atmosphere. Not because of the location. Because of Katya. Katya is not my favorite bartender. She is my favorite human being. I've spent enough time in bars to know when someone is good at their job. Katya operates on an entirely different level. She can take what feels like sixteen orders at once, remember every single one, deliver them with absolute precision, keep the entire room moving, somehow do the math in her head, and still make every customer feel like they're the only person sitting at the bar. The basement bar itself is exactly what a great dive should be; a shithole. Heavy hobo stab vibes upon entry, including Katya. Smell: multiple buttholes farting at once. Climate control: sweaty patron dependent. Lighting: liability. TV: playing a rotation of trash 80s DVDs . If business schools were smart, they'd study her. If hospitality groups were smart, they'd clone her. If Santa Fe has any sense at all, they'll do whatever it takes to keep her exactly where she is. Cash only, so come prepared. And bring plenty of it, because she deserves every penny. Katya must be protected at all costs.
