Really enjoyed our experience. We rented 3 kayaks for half the day. They drove us up to the dam and…read morewe then kayaked down. We basically had the whole river to ourselves. The amount of time it takes to get down does vary so we took less time than expected but still had fun. When I voiced a little bit of confusion on timing, they did a great job reaching out to clear things up and make them right. Definitely will be renting from them again!

Some other anglers were hitting on Stripers with some Bucktail jigs. My 14 yr old son was determined he was going to get one of them so I got on Google Maps and found the nearest fishing supply store. Matt answered the phone. He was so pleasant and helpful. He told me exactly what kind of jigs we needed. He knows because he is a regular angler at that same spot. He fished for a long time without any bites. As soon as we got the jigs from Matt he caught fish on the 3rd cast. Who better to sell you the supplies than the guy that catches the fish. He showed me lots of pictures on his phone of his recent catches. The service and prices were great. I really enjoyed meeting this young man - and what a beautiful, well-stocked store he has. He will treat you just like family. Well, my son caught several large stripers with Matt's help and advice. We had a wonderful day. I hope you take time to go my and meet him and let him help you hook the big ones.

I practically grew up here. I know all the bridges and piers and probably all of the roads that lead you to the lake. Hell I have a running tab at one of the bait shops cause the original owners kids still remember me do in to shop as a kid. I know that it's rude to come to these fishes home and kidnap them. But I love to have fish as guest right next to some yellow grits and cheesy eggs. So I apologize for that but I'm that kind of girl! Yes. I do agree that things have changed around here. There are a lot of things that I used to do in the late 80's early 90's that they just don't allow us to do anymore. But it's okay. We have to roll with the punches after we curse a little of course. There are less staff members here. Not enough trash cans. Bathrooms close foe Winter and then you can't find a port a potty. Bring a Red Cup and some baby whipes ladies. That is the best tip feom me you will ever get. Trust me on this one! But none of the changes can take away from the beauty of the place. And the fact that you get to see and touch and feel and live in the moment right here I the great State of Georgia. With that being said, what amazes me the most is that most of the people we meet on land here are from Atlanta. Maybe all the natives have their own boat. But it's a great way to meet new people! Long time friendships are made out here. It's a huge lake so be careful if you are fishing in land because some of these little roads are in Alabama and vice versa. Just double check if you only have a GA fishing license the you don't want to get caught fishing in AL. If you are on a boat however, no worries. I hope that if you are in Atlanta that you will give this place a try. It's a little over 1 hour from the Hartsfield-Jackson airport in Atlanta. Depending on who is driving may 1 1/2 hours. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

If you are looking for an intense, extended whitewater experience, this may not be the thing. But…read moreif you are looking for a great activity with friends or family, this is an awesome choice. They put you on a bus and drive you to a drop-off point where you get on a raft with a guide and 4-6 people. The first time they take you down on the Georgia side, where the final stretch is a level 4. Then once you have gotten down they let you see what the short level 5 stretch looks like on the Alabama side of the river, and you go back up and do it again - choosing which way you go down. We did it in the evening when the dam releases a lot of water. The flow was at its peak for the first run (13,000 cfs), then had dropped to 9,000 cpf for the second run, which actually makes the final "hole" most pronounced. Most of the rafts that tried to go through the level 5 flipped or lost most of their passengers. But that happens just before the final collecting pool so there is virtually no danger. Our guide, Casey, was very knowledgeable and we had a great time. At one point in a relatively calm stretch we all jumped in and floated along. Also after the second run we were allowed to jump off a rock into the fastest part of the rapids right at the bottom - quite a fun experience.

We had a noon classic trip planned but we're concerned with the oncoming storms the power might go out while we were gone for over 3 hours, and it be life threatening heat to our dogs. She rescheduled us for a later time that day, and said we could call and check later to be sure it would work. It all worked out perfect. Then we had a very fun experience with our guide Leo. Would recommend this experience overall!

Our boat sat at the shop for nearly two weeks, and during that entire time, we received no updates. We were never called with a diagnosis, never given a timeline, and never told what work was being performed. I finally had to call them myself, only to be told, "Oh yeah, we were going to call you." At that point, we were informed they had put a fuel pump on the boat and wanted my husband to come listen to a noise. Frustrated by the lack of communication, we decided to pick the boat up and take it elsewhere. To make matters worse, we were never called or informed that the fuel pump on our boat was going to be removed. We were never asked for approval, and no one explained what was being done. When I picked the boat up and paid the diagnostic fee, nothing was mentioned about it. It wasn't until I got home and my husband looked at the boat that we realized the pump they had put on had been removed and our old fuel pump had been left sitting on the back seat. After nearly two weeks, we were left with a bill, a vague diagnosis, poor communication, and more questions than answers and a removed fuel pump sitting on the back seat of our boat. The complete lack of updates and failure to communicate what work was being performed made this an extremely frustrating experience. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this shop to anyone in the area.
