Singleton Marine - Lake Harding

Singleton Marine - Lake Harding

I recently purchased a Starcraft tritoon from Mike Chandler at the Singleton Lake Harding location…read more The experience was very positive all the way through. Did a test drive with Mike and Chandler Griggs. Both super nice, courteous and knowledgeable. When it came to paperwork, Robert Ely, Finance Manager, joined the conversation and was very helpful. We finished virtually all of the paperwork remotely. Overall, a very pleasant purchasing experience. I highly recommend Mike and his team!

Absolutely the worst experience I have had with service and price!!!!!…read moreI took my boat in to have a bearing replaced. I was quoted about $500 . Less than 3 hours later I recieved a call that it needed a u joint and a seal so I asked for the total and I was told $1052 plus tax so I approved it . 5 days later I was called and told it was ready and as they were working on it they found a bellow was bad so he replaced it and he didn't charge me any labor . I was fine with that . The part was $118 . So my bill should have been $1170 plus tax . No . When I asked for the total he told me it was $1742 . So I go down there and asked how did it jump almost 700. He told me he never quoted me the original 1052. After arguing with him he told me they recorded their phone calls so I asked him to please pull it. Funny they didn't have that one. So after talking to his boss in Atlanta we agreed on the original price of 1052 plus the bellow. I asked for my old parts. When I looked at them I could not see anything wrong with the u joint he sold me and no signs of possible future issues with it. So I took it to 2 other reputable marine shops to look at and they both said there was nothing wrong with it and there is no way they would have replaced or recommended it being replaced. So I guess you got me this time but I will never return to there and will never recommend it anyone I know. And by the way they service manager Steve needs costumer service classes.

Beware of shoddy workmanship and lies at this shop! I brought a boat to them with an Alpha 1 Gen 1…read moresterndrive that needed new oil seals in the upper unit. After 7 weeks I got the boat back with the same oil leak. I understand the long lead time due to summer business, but I do expect the problem solved after spending $770 to fix it. I picked it up and they lied to me when they said it sat for 30 hours without a drop of oil leaking and that they pressure tested it. Before hitching up I showed the young man working there that it was still leaking oil from the weep hole at the front of the lower unit and he told me that it was expected. Also told me to take it to the lake and "run it hard" for a while. Good thing I didn't as it leaked out nearly all the gear lube when it sat in my driveway for 5 hours. I took the lower unit off and found it was missing the o-ring between the upper and lower units and that the upper unit oil seal was laying down the driveshaft on the impeller housing! The work I paid so much for was done incorrectly. For that price I have learned I can purchase a new SEI unit and simply install it myself, which is what I'm now doing. The owner refused to give even a partial refund and blames being sick with cancer as a reason he cannot help me. Find a reputable shop that stands behind their work and avoid 3 Lakes Marine.
