After initially enrolling, I dropped my classes and stopped pursuing enrollment at the university. I did not register for future terms, did not attend classes, did not participate in coursework, and believed I was no longer enrolled. Later, I discovered that I was being held financially responsible for Summer 2024 tuition and fees. I submitted a petition/appeal explaining that I was not aware I had been registered and therefore had no way of knowing I needed to meet any withdrawal or refund deadlines. The university approved the withdrawal request but still refused to adjust the tuition and fees, meaning they are continuing to hold me financially responsible for classes I did not knowingly register for or attend. In my opinion, this process has been extremely unfair and confusing. If a student is not aware they are enrolled, it is unreasonable to expect them to know about deadlines for dropping or withdrawing. I also feel the university should be able to provide clear proof of how and when the student registered, whether there was any academic participation, and why tuition charges remain valid. I would strongly recommend that students carefully monitor their accounts and get everything in writing, because my experience has been that resolving enrollment and billing issues after the fact is very difficult. This situation has caused unnecessary stress and financial burden, and I am disappointed with how it has been handled.

It was a fun experience and we decided to enroll for the school year. I absolutely love this school on so many levels. The staff are incredible. Waldorf is new to me but love the community and imagination based style of play, learning and life. They have so many traditions and events throughout the year that are magical. Nature based and a dim calm environment. The have a unique rhthym of the day that you won't find at just any school. They play outside, feed chickens, sing, open play, snack, story time, art, and so much more. I am looking forward to being part of the Acorn family for the next few years!

They get to take morning walks in nature, learn fun songs, feed chickens (and now pet the bunnies), learn how to chop vegetables, bake bread, learn finger crafts, molding beeswax, wet on wet painting, and everything about is natural. Lots of wooden toys to play with indoors & they get to wear cozy slippers, just like at home! The teachers are so comforting to the children when they need a little bit of love. My son needed that. They have a way of keeping everyone involved if you wish to be involved and if not that's ok as well. The church was built in 1964 and has lots of history, charm, and warmth. There's plenty of parking and the church can accommodate up to 500 people every service. Services are held at 8am and 11am every Sunday plus a service on Monday evening at 7pm if you want a smaller service. The church offers a contemporary and traditional Lutheran service which is a nice option for those who need a variety. I've been very happy here and the pastor's have always given great sermons that seem to always transition into some event in my life. I believe if you give St Paul's Lutheran a try you'll be surprised and welcomed like family.

This was a fun event for spending the afternoon supporting a great cause. I love checking out all the bikes and it is a cool place to people watch. There were over 10,000 motorcycles in the show, scores of participants in the police skills competition from several different agencies, dozens of vendors, a police escorted ride, and tens of thousands of spectators like me.

Where art and fun meet. I'm a regular here for their Second Friday Art Walk that takes place every…read moremonth, spreading throughout downtown Flint and spilling over to Buckham Gallery and the local cafes, churches and even the sidewalks along S. Saginaw Street (and once upon a time, the now-defunct Left Bank Gallery). The gallery features a nice array of artwork and sculptures, most of which is reasonably priced. The artist receptions feature all sorts of artistic mediums that run the gamut from sculptures, jewelry, glassware and pottery to quilts, mosaics, photography and paintings. Heck, you can even find carved walking sticks and funky wine bottle art here! I've purchased a few pieces from GFAC before (pottery and prints) and I feel strongly that GFAC's art exhibitions are executed quite well. Greg Fiedler, who runs GFAC, is a great guy and does a lot for the Flint community through promoting the art scene around the city, not just at GFAC. The art is definitely a little less edgy than that of what's featured at nearby Buckham Gallery, which features more "installation"-style or "interpretative" art projects than GFAC, whose focus is on more mainstream artistic mediums. Every monthly Art Walk at GFAC has a reception open to the public, complete with music (usually good, often jazz or classical), drinks (beer and wine) and lots of food. Get there early, though, because lately the food and the really good beer have disappeared pretty quickly! Lately, the gallery has also played host to Jazz Walk events as well, expanding its brand around the downtown scene. Art Walk opening night receptions are usually wall to wall with people, so hobnobbing with the downtown regulars is a must. Plus, it's a lot of fun to run into friends you've haven't seen in awhile and get caught up! Pretty much anybody who is anybody around town rarely misses either Art Walk or Jazz Walk events here. My hubby even volunteered during the GFAC's annual Cool Cities Auction, which shouldn't be missed and raises money for a good cause.
