Mr. Kubik managed to undo the damage done by my former CPA, and didn't charge me more for the snafu. While the cost of different tax returns will vary, our taxes cost about $150- not too bad.

The adage: "You get what you pay for," has merit, but in Mainstay's case, you get much more than…read moreyou pay for. What you get is a managed portfolio based on your objectives and risk tolerance. Performance against appropriate benchmarks is good. You also get an educated, certified professional assigned to your account who is always available to answer any questions or concerns. But I got tired of a portfolio that did not reflect my risk tolerance, underperformance against an appropriate benchmark and a flunky assigned to my account who read from a script an insulted my intelligence.
