Our preparer this year apologized that the cost per form had gone up a bit, but our total wasn't much more than usual, so we can just go with it. And the cost is always deductible for the following year. We make an appointment on a weekend day each year and make a half-day of it. After our 9am appointment this year, we had breakfast while we waited for the computer entry and filing, picked up our info again, and were home by noon.

My husband arrived to meet Dan & drop off our tax information, only to be met at the front door by someone telling him he had to take his shoes off to go downstairs, where the office is. When we showed up to sign the taxes, pick-up final paperwork, etc. We stood in the foyer of his home to do this. Dan charged us $100 more than what we expected to pay, with no phone call beforehand to let us know or get our ok. Took a month to receive our refund, only to find out it was due to his $273 error. His response "whoever entered the information got dyslexic for a moment and the checker did not catch it." You are a 'professional' accounting/tax business with, according to the website, a lot of experience? These are someone's personal taxes you are dealing with & the error went through 2 people? I'm sorry, but that is totally unacceptable. Didn't find this business professional in any way. Thanks but no thanks, I'll go back to doing our taxes myself.

However, in 2012 I got letter from the IRS stating there was a problem with my tax return. MCLR assured me that there was a mistake and they would take care of it. After several years of nothing happening besides threats of having my bank accounts frozen, I called the IRS myself only to find out that some information they requested was not submitted by MCLR and that my case had been formally closed almost 2 years ago because of this. I was never informed by MCLR that they had dropped my case! I ended up paying not only the $5000. but much more in Failure To Pay penalties and interest!! Thanks for nothing MCLR!!

Then finally in August, I got a call from him and his assistant/wife, verbally disrespectful and cussing me saying, "F U" and he will not return my money, find someone else to help me. When I said ok, please return my money, and I take my business elsewhere. He (The owner) replied no, just pay your taxes, and hung up... So I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone. I found out after the fact, that the owner was found guilty and went to prison for a few years, for aiding and assisting in the preparation of false tax returns. So Beware of this business.
