I rarely use travel agents these days, the digital age and its super prices being upon us and all, but if I do it tends to be Flight Centre on Wormwood Street in The City, a small branch of the chain with helpful, efficient staff at hand to guide you through everything travel. Granted, you can usually find the best deals online but if you're not totally web savvy it's wise to use an agent and Flight Centre is as good a place as any to book a holiday. Flight prices are actually quite competitive and the staff are blessed with the patience of saints. All I can say that it's a reliable service, that can offer nice and cheap air tickets, almost for any destination. Our flight home was cancelled. Flightcentre did not want to know. Stranded at an airport in the middle of Africa at 3.30am, we called flightcentres emergency phone number at a cost of £2 per min. After a 20 minute phone call we were offered 2 options. We could either take a flight 2 days later at no extra cost but no reimbursement for hotel/meal costs, or we could travel that night but that option would have cost us over £2k per person, despite the original flights costing £1300. Flightcentre calls you approximately 1 week prior to your trip. This call is nothing more than a sales call. They do not check the status of your flights. They dont even log onto their booking system to make sure you are still booked onto the same flights. They merely want to sell you add ons for your holiday. Call the airlines yourself 2 days prior to departure to confirm dates and times. In fact, for the service you get, you may as well just book through opodo or expedia. We've had no offer for compensation for the delay and stress caused and no offer to cover the cost of the phone call. In fact all they have done is deny responsibility. Despite being an agent, they dont seem to offer you any protection when things go wrong. How foolish of us to expect service and support. read more
