Stay away from "DIAL A FIGHT"…read more I am in my sixties and have traveled for decades more than enough to know the difference between a good travel agency and a bad one. This is a bad one. My two experiences with Dial A Flight ended as horrendous and costly nightmares. They could not have cared less. The first problem started when they ticketed my daughter's school ski trip to the States under an incorrect first name. Somehow she still got on the flight to LA. When it came time to return, my daughter and I were exposed to a Homeland Security nightmare. She was treated as a miniature terrorist who, as the saying goes, had evil plans for world domination. When Dial A Flight couldn't figure out how to issue a return ticket in the correct name, I was actually advised by United Airlines that it was hopeless and I should trash the Dial A Flight ticket and buy her a new full fare seat. Dial A Flight took no responsiblity and blamed the problem on the school (a very reputable one). However, to my personal knowledge, the school brought the ticketing error to Dial A Flight's attention prior to travel. After countless excuses and blame passing lasting ten days, the ticket was corrected by a senior United Airlines person who took pity on us.on the day of travel, long after Dial A Flight had washed their hands of us. The second problem began when my wife booked a half term foreign holiday hotel package. I had a ticket to the destination as business travel with American Express. After the package was booked, I booked my daughters travel. In retrospect, I don't know why I allowed myself to be persuaded to do this, given that my own ticket was with American Express and my daughter had a reserved AMEX seat too. On a Saturday, realizing the outbound leg had bad ground arrangements, I effortlessly exchanged my American Express booked ticket to leave a day early and to a different City. There was a penalty and I assumed I'd be paying one on my daughters ticket exchange. But when I attempted to exchange her ticket, both British Air and American Express told me I needed Dial A Flight's participation. On Saturday, American Express was on the phone three times to Dial A Flight trying to facilitate the exchange. But Dial A Flights computer system computer system was down, they said. and I had to wait overnight. Sunday it got worse. Seats on our new flight were dwindling, as I spent over 3 hours trying to get the exchange accomplished. I was told that my daughters ticket was booked as part of a special hotel package fare. This was either a mistake or inaccurate. It was booked well after the hotel package in an unrelated transaction. After bragging that Dial A Flight had "lots of pull" because of the "millions of pounds" of tickets they bought with BMI and BA, the Dial A Flight agent told me he had to consult the relevant contract. I was offered a call back, but since Dial A Flight had repeatedly failed to return calls for two days, I opted to stay on hold, even though I was on an international toll call. After a full 40 minutes (I timed it) on hold, the Dial A Flight agent told me that he could not locate the contract and nothing could be done until Monday. Was he really looking for the contract for 40 minutes, was he having a little fun or did he simply space out? I don't know. Since the seats on the new flight were still disappearing, I bought what turned out to be one of the last ones for my daughter. American Express kindly agreed to cancel it at no charge, if and when Dial A Flight got the problem sorted. I welcomed Dial A Flight to post a rebuttal to this, but as noted above re my daughter's school, they have an imagination. In short, after many years of good and bad travel experiences, Dial A Flight stands out as being unhelpful and even hostile when a problem develops. You will be better off booking your ticket yourself or using a different travel agent, should a problem develop. If you are buying solely for price, they may be an OK choice, though frankly the arrangements we booked through them were no cheaper than those I booked with American Express . I would give them zero stars or minus stars if Yelp offered that option. ADDENDUM AND POSTSCRIPT-- When Monday came around, it got not call back but after emailing, got in touch with David P, who is really a stand-up guy. If all dealings were with David, and one never had a problem when he was unavailable, this would be a great agency. In fact he agreed to make good some of our losses out of his own commission.

You really discover the quality of your holiday agency when problems appear. And Dial A Flight…read morefailed miserably! We booked our package, flight and hotel, to the US with Dial a Flight. Due to the volcano, we were stranded there (as were so many others). According to the law and according to the Foreign Office Website pages specifically set up for people stranded like us, if we bought our holiday as a package, the agency should cover and take care of us whilst abroad. Dial A Flight merely stated to me that the Foreign Office was wrong. They would not cover us at this stage, suggested that we go and stay with friends and family (we had none in the state or the neighbouring states!). In the end, there was a non-service from Dial A Flight, we will never travel with them again, and can not recommend them at all. Thank god for HSBC, which made a blanket announcement that they will cover all of their customers with either an HSBC travel insurance or an Advance/Premier account (which comes with insurance). I am now going to remain an HSBC customer - they stepped up to reassure us when so many others failed.
