There is a certain happiness that radiates from this cute cafe on the Brunswick side of Lygon st. If you are lucky enough to arrive when it's not too busy I would recommend taking a seat near in the middle of the cafe to watch Monsieur Truffle through the glass walls (such a dangerously good idea putting it there!). If you order a coffee you will love it. Nice and strong and served piping hot. I also think the Chai latte is quite notable and elaborate (think of it broken down into all the parts that you assemble yourself). The food is excellent and had plenty of tasty options for vegans and vegetarians. The fresh herbs and plants growing around the venue really add to the healthy feel of the place. Also SPICY BLOODY MARYS are really cheap. Just get one. It will make everything better. Great for a quiet coffee, brunch, catchups with friends or a boozy/caffeinated meeting.

Monsieur Truffe/East Elevation is an interesting conundrum. Sometimes great. Sometimes well below…read moreaverage. It is a bit of a lottery. The service can sometimes be lovely and generous, but then there are a couple of staff who are just unpleasant, dismissive and rude. The same goes for the food. There are some great items, that are healthy, creative and well-prepared (the pork belly, the crepes), while others that just don't seem to live up to the atmosphere (corn beef hash, full breakfast) and the price. And one major gripe, which is not particularly confined to East Elevation, is this very dismissive, and irrational "no substitutes" policy. I just don't get it, to be honest. How hard is it, in an a la carte kitchen, to not put one thing on the plate and put something else there? Particularly when you are charging such a premium price. It's all fine when you have a crowd waiting, but when competition appears, you know where people will be heading.

MOB "My Other Brother Cafe"…read more First time here and I wasn't let down. I'm giving 5 stars for a couple of reasons. The first being the wait staff was fast, sweet, and in gauging. It's not a large place but they had no problem seating 5 on the spot. Second reason was the food presentation. Great plating on simple dishes always makes me smile. Makes me think the cooks are happy and that makes me happy. If you can't make a sandwich look good on a plate then you shouldn't be in the kitchen. The last reason was the food it self. Simple dishes with great flavour. I loved the use of beet powder on the eggs benny, it had great colour and flavour. I was stoked that my burger came on a milk bun, I'm so over brioche and pretzel buns. The sauce on my burger was the best thousand island I've ever had. Sweet and tangy, salty and bitey! Added depth and dimension to a classic burger. Maybe it was the combo of the bbq glaze and the thousand island. Not sure what they did to it but it really made my burger taste more complex. I think maybe they just cared. The sign of a good chef is the quality of their sauces. Maybe Escoffier said that, but don't quote me. Even if the sauces where not made in house my mouth thanks you. I can only speak for the food that I ate, but the rest of the food at my table looked amazing. I will be back to try more dishes. This will definitely be my swap meet cafe stop when I shop at the Camberwell Market. 5 seats 5 friends 5 bloody Mary's 5 dishes 5 stars Thank you MOB cafe !

However, one morning I decided to pay a visit to this cafe namely for some breakfast. Well, the chilli eggs ended up being pretty awesome, and the atmosphere wasn't bad either, despite the fact that the buildings around here are all pretty new. Still, as a place to grab some breakfast this place does happen to be pretty awesome, and I definitely would make an effort to visit this place again. Oh, and the tea wasn't bad either.

Quite an open space for a little cafe, Little Henri has 3 different seating areas; indoors, semi indoor and an outside courtyard with park bench style tables. Perhaps this building used to be a small bank as there is what looks like a vault behind the counter inside. We were quickly greeted and presented with a bottle of water and some menus. The menu is quite good and what you would expect from a cafe in Melbourne. I ordered a ham, cheese and tomato croissant with a flat white. We could not believe how fast the service was, within minutes our coffees and meals were in front of us. My croissant was perfectly toasted with the cheese melted just so, with a decent slab of ham and fresh tomatoes. Filled me right up. Needless to say I'm somewhat impressed at my first visit here and will come back if the opportunity presents itself again. Fast and friendly service :)
