Jake was great! My boyfriend was the one that recommended this place. We usually weight train but he convinced me to start running/walking more. The only shoes I typically wear are converses and vans and I wasn't quite sure where to start in regard to running shoes. But Jake helped us out with any questions and also assisted us in finding the right shoe for me. Never felt rushed and he was very helpful. There's a scale you step on that assesses your feet (foot arch, size, etc). He also had me walk to see where I struggle with and helped pin point where what causes issues for me. Stability was what was needed to be corrected. Jake brought out many options for me to choose from and man the choices were hard but he wanted to make sure I found a shoe that works best for me. I believe there is also a 60 day return for shoes that have been worn! Which is great for in the case that you go for a run & you realize it isn't a perfect match for you. Running shoes are pretty pricey not gonna lie but I do think it's worth it if you're planning on running/walking. It's a good investment long term as well. It just occurred to me that I've been running for 20 years...which seems impossible since I'm only 25 :) About 2 months into training for my favorite 15K I started to notice some hip and knee pain and presumed my dinosaur shoes might have something to do with it. Ergo, I found myself in Fleet Feet to get back on the right track (it probably won't be the last pun, so buckle up). I had the good fortune of being greeted by Tyler who, I learned, like me, has high arches and a "normal" gait. He ushered me to the foot scanner to get some data to help him in making recommendations for shoes. This was the first time I'd ever had my feet scanned and analyzed. I was a little skeptical but several people who have more experience than me recommended it, and they weren't wrong. TONS of useful information came out of that analysis. Most notably, I've been running in the wrong size shoe. Oops. Tyler patiently and methodically laid out no less than 10 pairs of shoes for me to try, all with various features and emphases. He explained each in detail which was very helpful in making a selection that made the most sense for me. Not surprisingly, I landed on some Hokas, which have made a HUGE difference in my training and recovery. This location isn't huge, but I feel like the selection is reasonable. There are a fair amount of running accessories and a decent inventory of running apparel (the Chicken Legs shorts are hysterical and have made it on to my Christmas list). In terms of value, It seems you're getting what you pay for. For a small premium, you're getting the input of a staff who is clearly knowledgeable in their inventory and its best use case. Walk in and 4 associates are standing at the register. No one greets me. That should've been my first sign to leave. I was the only person in the store at the time. So that they wouldn't make their bad customer service so obvious one of the sales associates finally walks up to me to help. Her name tag was " Sassy sag" no idea what her actual name is. She's so rude! She asked me what I was looking for and pulled a few items based off of my needs. She sat down the entire time in front of me and didn't say a word to me. It was almost as if she didn't want to work with me. Very rude, stand offish and blank face the entire time. I literally had no help picking the right shoe out, she wouldn't speak to me. Every time I asked her a question she seemed very annoyed, like she would rather be helping someone else. Which was very strange because there were several other employees going above and beyond with their customers around me. We came here from cypress hoping they would have a variety of shoes to choose from but it was quiet disappointing. I felt like they did not treat us the same as the other customers in the store. We were ready to buy a shoe when we came in and they were not very helpful. We heard a gentlemen explaining everything about the shoes and another person was on the treadmill testing out the shoes. Here is what Fleet Feet claims their process to be. Step One: Getting to Know YouThe Personal Fit Process Step Two: Measurement Step Three: Gait Analysis Step Four: Fitting and Recommendations Step Five: The Decision Step Six: Ready to Go Exactly none of those things happened at the Katy store today. I'm marginally new at running, about 6 months worth. I wanted to improve my shoes and had seen (online of course....DON'T TRUST THE INTERNET) good reviews about Fleet Feet. None of the Praise I heard was even close to what I experienced. The lady who eventually showed up was barely interested in being bothered. She asked what my size was and if my foot was wide. I suggested that it might be ideal to actually measure the feet so we can be accurate. There was no gait analysis, no 3D measuring, no proper fitting and suggestions. She simply brought out three pairs of shoes and told me to pick one. It was at that point that I realized that, as a customer, I was simply interfering with the ladies break or her heavily scheduled loafing at work schedule. I swear to God that I would have received more personal service from a Wal-Mart or an Academy Store. I really got the sense that I was not welcomed as a customer. Fortunately, there are other stores. I eventually made my way to Finish Strong Sports on Washington Avenue in Houston. It was there that I received a comprehensive fit, including an analysis of my gait. Four pairs of shoes were offered. I tried them all, I made my comments, my questions were answered. Another pair showed up. I walked out with the perfect shoes. Thank you Finish Strong for doing a great job. If you need shoes, go to someplace with strong customer support, such as Finish Strong Sports on Washington Ave. If ever asked, or when I write of my running experiences on both Facebook and Twitter, I will always make mention of what a waste of time Fleet Feet Stores are. Upon entering the store we were not greeted despite several employees standing around on their phones. We shopped around about 10-15 minutes waiting as Lance (whom we assumed was the professional fitter) assisted another customer once he finished. We waited for Him or someone to ask if we needed assistance but nothing. It was as if we were invisible. Another couple enters and immediately they are greeted and assistance was given. I wish I could write 2 separate reviews, for this situation. First, Lance 's customer service skills, are Bar None. Unfortunately Julie, had no interest in helping with the purchase of $130. running shoes. I called and spoke with Lance on Friday, I told him my son is on the cross country team, had recently recovered from runners knee, and we were looking for some running shoes. Lance was very understanding and said he would scan my sons feet, have a look at his gate, and help pick out the perfect shoe for the mileage of his training. I said, fantastic, we are buying them for his Birthday. On Tuesday, my husband brought my son to buy his birthday gift. Upon arrival, my husband had to initiate help from Julie. He mentioned everything I had spoken to Lance about, and that my son was offered to have his feet scanned. She was not at all interested in doing that, and completely blew off my husband. Julie did not even measure my sons feet. My husband with the best intentions of spending a birthday moment with our son, basically had a Warehouse experience and handled the sale himself. Now, most importantly we took our son from Cypress to Katy to get what Lance explained over the phone, a scan of his feet, a look at his gate, a fitting and helping with the proper pair of shoes. We have spent time and money on Dr.s' and PT, and we really wanted to make sure the next couple hundred miles, were in the proper shoes.
