Fleet Feet in Irmo, next to Brueger Bagels on Lake Murray Blvd. I have been coming to Fleet Feet for many years ever since I originally came and had my gait recorded on treadmill. You never know until you know then you can get the shoe to help your gait. For me my ankle pronates in when I step so need a well padded inner sole shoe. The staff identified that in the Brooks brand the Adrenaline was best for me. Ever since I have always got the same shoe and never have foot pain. As far as this store it is large comparatively to competitors lots of clothes, socks, night light type equipment. You are free to step outside and run in parking lot with the shoe you are trying to decide on. Running shoes are pricey IMO but considering how much time you spend on your feet it is money well spent. read more

Wow! I am left speechless at the quality of service I have received every time I have come in. Word of Mouth is what got me to come in in the first place about a year ago. I have never had a proper foot/shoe fitting before and had just tried on what feels best in store, but after having them look at my feet, they kindly pointed out two shoes - one which I had tried on before and didn't love, and the second one which I had never heard of. Welp, the issue was solved when they let me know the ones I had previously tried on my own were too narrow and I needed Wide shoes. The shoes they provided were excellent. Even though I took nearly an hour deciding on which pair to get, I ended up getting both shoes since they both felt great. The person helping me did so for about the first 20 or so minutes and then allowed me to explore them on my own since there was a line of people needing to be fit. I went again this week and received the same great service as I did before. They helped my wife get fitted and choose shoes and she has not stopped raving about how impressed she was with the service and shoe quality she got. They did have shoes on sale, just not the style or type we were looking for. They even had plenty of running clothes on sale. Both of us stand on our feet for 8-12 hours a day, and these shoes will help us stay comfortable and energized. I will definitely be coming back every time I need a new pair of running shoes or if I'm looking for something a little extra in the realm of running. read more

Really disappointed with the service today. I went in to use a gift card and wanted a specific shoe which he said they did not have in stock and " had no idea" when he would. He said he could call one of their other stores if I wanted to go through the trouble of driving over there. Thanks but no thanks. I called both the Lexington store and the Forest Hills store from the parking lot and the guy from Forest Hills was very helpful and informative and said I could just order on fleet feet.com and use my gift card. I did that and ordered my shoes in 5 minutes. Never going to the Irmo store again and will be traveling to Forest Hills store for anything I need read more

Went in two days ago with a friend who was buying shoes. Had no intention of buying shoes at this visit. However, while waiting I was offered a foot analysis. I work in health care in addition to working out and my feet are always killing me by days end. I thought I had a neutral foot and always kept buying shoes with cushion and not stability. The analysis showing I did indeed have pronation and foot bed also lit up with lots of pressure points. Our salesperson Kenny brought out a few pairs of shoes for me to try on. In my mind I still wasn't interested in purchasing. However, after putting on a pair of Saucony stability shoes I quickly changed my mind. Bonus was they were on sale. My feet feel much better. This place is top notch. I first went to the Forest Drive location (which doesn't have a Yelp page *gasp*), but they only had one of two shoes I needed to test. Thankfully, the manager (who also manages this location) had one of her staffers at this location hold the other pair of Brooks that I needed. Hours later I made it out to this location, tested both, and bought my new pair of shoes. That's very good service the manager provided and the young man that helped me in Irmo was also very informed and provided top-notch customer service. This all ensured my return at a future date. Wonderful service, great selections to choose from! They take a 3-D scan of your ankles and feet and have you walk across a pressure pad to get a feel for your foot and the way you walk. Then they bring out a selection of shoes to try on and choose from that work with your feet. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ASSOCIATE. wish I would've gotten the name of the older lady in the store as the younger associates were quite helpful. First they had a line out the door for fitting, which was compounded by their not having all of their shoes on display (so how why would you wait in a long line just to find out they do or don't have your shoe in stock. Secondly I asked for mid/hi running shoes for trail running and she told me there was no such thing SMH. I pointed to 2 different lo versions that I know are made in mid/hi and she said those were trail shoes NOT running shoes - again WTH. I had to walk out. I'm not paying markup on a pair of shoes when I have to educate the retailer. That's the service I'm paying extra for. Fantastic shop! I gave my son a gift certificate to Fleet Feet for a birthday present to encourage him to get back to exercising regularly. He used to run a lot but had purchased his shoes online without much thought. As a result, he had some discomfort and injury issues through the years. I wanted him to get advice from experienced local runners who know how to fit shoes and the gift certificate was the best approach! The FF consultant spent more than 45 minutes with him doing a personal fitting. She really cared about taking time to make sure that he got the best shoes for his running style and that would make running easy and injury free and something that he'd want to do. He ended up with a brand that he would have never tried and is very happy with the shoes. Because I'm not a runner I didnt know about this store until someone in my family asked for a gift from here. When I went in I decided to look around as the store is small but neat. When I walked through the door the staff greeted me almost instantly. I saw a few individuals being measured for shoes and trying them on. Each had an employee walking through the process with them step by step. The lady who rang up the gift I was buying was super nice and knowledgeable about all things running. I had a great experience shopping for running sneakers here today. I believe Phil was the man who assisted me. He examen my foot and brought out four sneakers for me to try on. He even let me run a short distance outside to see how they felt. I'm so glad he was very knowledgeable about the proper sneaker for me. The pair I bought are great! This is a fantastic store. The selection of running shoes and clothing is fantastic, the staff is terrific, and the experience is everything a runner would want. I would recommend this store to beginning runners as well as intermediate runners and possibly expert runners as well if they were in need of shoes or clothes or nutrition. This store also sponsors a lot of runs where you can meet other runners and get involved in the community, which for people new to the Columbia area is wonderful. One cool thing about this store when trying on shoes is they let you go outside and run in them for a bit and they're able to see how your feet land in the shoe and you're able to figure out if you like the feel of the shoe or not, something that's hard to do unless you've run in them. I had been telling a friend to get her shoes from Fleet Feet for months. She finally went and was treated so terribly. She was told they would not digitally measure her feet unless she had an intent to buy. If she walked in the store then she obviously had an intent to buy. It's terrible customer service to say such a thing to anyone. I called and spoke to Prime, the store manager. He said it's their store policy to protect their store. It's sad that they don't realize how terrible customer service this is. Working in customer service, you always treat people with respect. It's how they're treated that makes most people come back not just the quality of materials or services. There's the Good Feet Store and many other stores like this one. I'm just starting out as a runner and am so glad I started at Fleet Feet! I knew I needed a good pair of shoes and a friend recommended them. I arrived and only had to wait a couple of minutes before someone came to help me. They measured my feet, checked out my walk and then we tried on numerous pairs of shoes. I lost count! I was instructed to run in each pair outside to see how they felt. I ended up buying the first pair I put on! The gentleman that helped me was very nice and obviously talked to me a lot about the shoes but also told me some tips about how to tie my shoes to help with my wider foot and more narrow ankle. He also talked to me about dealing with some pain I had been having while I was running. The service was great! I bought the shoes and 3 pair of socks and the total was around $120. Probably a little more expensive than what I could have found somewhere else but it is worth it to know that the shoes I'm going to be wearing are the best fit for my feet. read more

I have been a running for over 10 years at this stage in my life. I have never been here before. It looked like they had a great selection of shoes. I was helped by someone named April. She was one of the rudest people I have ever interacted with. She should not be working in costumer service. She was rude and acted as if I was ignorant. I was taken aback by her attitude. I work in the customer service industry, so I have a high threshold for rude people, but she was something else. I wanted to buy running shoes but would never from a person like her. Went here to get properly fitted for a pair of running shoes. They took all of the time that was needed, fit me just right, and sold me some shoes (Hoka OneOne) and insole inserts that I just LOVE. I got a great pair of shoes and have been able to avoid injury as I slowly claw my middle aged self back into running form. The shoes were fairly priced, as were the insoles. I'd pay a lot more than I did for the level of comfort and satisfaction I received. Having said all of that, it must be stated that this is by no means the low cost alternative. You're not going to find these products and get properly fitted at a sports warehouse store. You just won't. As usual, you get what you pay for, and as for me, I won't buy running shoes anywhere else if I can help it. read more

The staff here at Fleet Feet took a lot of time with me and helped me pick the best shoes for my foot type. I even went up in size and width. If you need to get fitted for a running shoe this is hands down the best place in Columbia. They put you on a treadmill and video tape your stride. You are going to spend some money there but if you are serious about getting the correct shoe this is where you need to go. All fittings are done free of charge. If you were a tightwad I suppose you could take what they recommend and probably save $20 by purchasing on the internet. The way I look at it is that they spend about an hour fitting you for a shoe then its worth the small extra cost. Also they dont just hire people off the street. All of the workers are competitive runners and take their job seriously (labor of love I suppose). read more

I rarely give a 5-star rating, however the Fleet Feet staff are incredible. We arrived one hour before they closed and they had 3 other customers that they were serving. We waited about 30 minutes, but it was well worth the wait. The staff spend one-on-one time with you. They make sure you have the right shoe for your specific needs. As someone who has started running more than just one mile at a time, I needed something that wouldn't aggravate my shin splints, and the staff listened to me. She watched me walk and then run on the treadmill with 3 different pairs of shoes. When I decided on my shoes, she spent more time with me finding the right insert. Full-service barely describes the help at Fleet Feet. Upon my first visit I was greeted quickly and after a verbal interview about my current running habits and goals, as well as what I was specifically looking for in a running shoe we started with the fitting. My arch was marked without weigh on it and then again with me standing on it to measure the rigidity. Then I was watched as I walked barefoot. My pronation was noted and the shoe fitting began. I was shown 5 shoes that would provide some added support and help correct my over-pronation on mid- and long runs. I tried the first pair and ran outside while they watched my gait. Then I tried one-to-one comparison through the other shoes (each time running outside, while my gait was monitored). I actually settled on the last shoe of the 5, and it was the same model I previously run in. I was extremely surprised to know that I had been wearing a whole size too small (the larger size really helps with the normal swelling of my feet on the longer runs). I can't say enough about the service at Fleet Feet and I recommend them to ALL fellow runners. You may get cheaper shoes online, but you can't find this kind of experience and knowledgeable service anywhere else. read more

I remember a few years ago first hearing about this store and being negative about how the price of shoes might be increasingly high. To my surprise they were not at all and even more surprising was the level of service that I and my son received when purchasing two sets of shoes.
