Thinking about getting back into running again after about 16 years away from it. I heard good things about Fleet Feet and had never been properly fitted for running shoes before so I decided to give them a shot. Right as you enter the door there is a signboard where you can right your name and then they will come get you when a salesperson is available. I didn't have to wait long at all. Next they have you stand on a scanning machine followed by measuring your stride on a short strip on the floor that does just that. The salesman who helped me was very knowledgeable and I learned stuff about my feet that blew my mind. He brought out three different pairs of shoes and I got to try them on and walk around with them. I ended up getting a pair of Brooks. I was very pleased with my purchase and will look into running programs in the near future that they offer on their website. Highly recommend this establishment! read more

I have a tendency to panic buy when I shop, which results in purchasing a mediocre shoe that isn't exactly what I want/need. When I found out that Fleet Feet assigns a team member to you, scans your foot and provides multiple options, I knew this would be a great choice for me. The store associate, Nate, carefully explained the results of my foot scan and found excellent shoe options for my various fitness activities. The store has plenty of choices. They do the foot scan, upload results to an iPad and that's when the magic of this place truly begins. Owen was very profesional and knowledgeable. He provided multiple options after completing the scan. I never felt pressure to choose one shoe or the other. Very relaxed atmosphere and decor. I ended up trying 5 different kinds of running shoes, decided on a nice pair of Saucony. WOW! This place is great. I recently started running and quickly realized me shoes where not fit for running. I popped in and there were plenty of staff members waiting to assist. Tyler was amazing. They put me in the foot scan machine, and went over the results with me which gave me a lot of insight! I ended up deciding on a pair of ASICS. I didn't feel persuaded to purchase one shoe over the other and Tyler was really good at helping me identify pros and cons of each shoe. The style I decided on was only in store in one color, so they ordered a color I liked. A bonus was that they were pretty reasonably priced. I anticipated spending 200+ dollars, and was way under that. I will definitely be returning for all my running needs! read more

Fantastic Service and what may be the solutions to a chronic problem. I had polio as a child and after numerous surgeries I spent most of my adult life with one leg shorter than the other and an ungainly walk and persistent back problems. Custom orthodontics helped but as you break in shoes, they change. I had knee replacement surgery in 2004 and hip replacement in March of this year but they put off physical therapy till most of the healing had occurred. After six months and a trip to California where someone caught me in a video, did I realize how much I needed to do something about. Had my check up appointment with the surgeon who did the replacement and he said it was time for Physical Therapy to give some strength back into my hips. They gave me a list of Physical Therapist and I chose Lakeside in Huntersville and after a couple of sessions, I realized that I needed to do more since I don't have daily access to the exercise equipment they inflict on me. Needed a pair of shoes for the gym and my Therapist recommended Fleet Feet and Brooks shoes but also gave me a list of other places to try. Went today and they did the initial measurements and ordered the shoes that will come in about 10 days. My wife and I can not describe the difference that proper fitting shoes make. My wife commented that there was an almost 100% improvement in my gait with the proper shoe. It's very difficult to fit me with shoes. Because of the polio, one show is a size 12 and the other a size 8 although in their measurements, it came out a bit different. I will admit that while these were athletic shoes, they are probably the most comfortable shoes and most supportive shoes I have ever worn. read more

I spent over 40 minutes picking out shoes to train for my first triathlon in and ended up wearing them for three 5ks and countless training runs along the way. I love Fleet Feet for several reasons! They offer great running programs at various levels. I was introduced to Fleet Feet through their 1 Mile Running program. The program is a beginners training for people who have never ran or want to start training for longer races. The program is on $25 and about a month long. Training takes place on the greenway behind the store and is usually 2 days a week, the program I attended was Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings. The program was great, our trainer Mark (which is also the owner of the store) gives great advice that improves your running, endurance and overall health. There are also more veteran runners who participate as mentors since the groups are somewhat large. The training schedule was very detailed and easy to keep up with. When the month was over I was able to run a whole mile without stopping and in a fairly good time. There are more training programs that are offered throughout the year, such as the 5k, 10k, half and full marathon. Each training leads up to a big race. After the 1 mile program, I signed up for the 5k program and will be running my first 5k in the Huntersville Holiday 5k. I love the group of runners I run with, everyone will is super friendly, encouraging and motivating. I never thought I would ever join a running group or training but I am really enjoying it. The store is great and the employees are very helpful. Everything you could possibly need for running is available. I recently purchased a pair of running shoes and I was fitted for shoes that would improve my running. The shoe fitting machine is really high tech and provides a lot of information on your foot, ankle and stance. If you participate in a running program you also receive a discount on items in the store throughout the program which as great! read more

The owners and staff are just fantastic! I have gone before several races to get new apparel for different conditions (freezing cold for Richmond, Julie fitted me for the Mizuno Breathe Thermo top and bottom) and raining in Hartford (an excellent water repelling jacket) and helpful with making sure what I'm getting is right for me! The store is always clean, well stocked and is laid out for many folks to be able to shop at the same time even though it has a small footprint. Professional running bra fittings and the ability to try items out and return them if it wasn't what you expected. Mike is awesome--he's not a world record holding athlete, he's a regular guy who runs and talks to those of us that are also regular men and women in a way that makes my husband and I both feel a bit more like athletes. :) Selection, pricing, deals on certain items (like a box of GU) and discounts on seasonal items are all outstanding. Love that they are at the mouth of the Greenway in Birkdale and I can pop in for socks, a forgotten gel....you name it, before a run. You can go to a big box store and be a faceless spender, or you can go to Fleet Feet and be a recognized and valued customer...why on earth would you pick the former when you can enjoy the latter? I have long narrow feet. It's very hard to find a good pair of shoes. The lady there did not give up till I was happy. I had to bring a pair back because they didn't work. She was very understanding and worked to find the perfect shoes. I wouldn't go anywhere else for my tennis shoes. read more

My flat, pronating feet are not as 'fleet' at age 72 and need all the help I and they get. I am not an athlete or runner...never was...but we all need to be able to walk. Guess I'm paying the price for shoving my lovely younger feet into lovely, fashionable shoes in an era when sneakers were plain and lacked in today's technology. That technology abounds at Fleet Feet in a wide range of brands and styles to provide the correct support and fit for whatever your foot problems, lifestyle or sports. I observed a variety of people being fitted by a knowledgeable staff...fitted the 'old fashioned' way...you know...measuring feet, looking at the wear patterns on the old shoes of the customer, observing how the customer walked to determine foot problems...things that don't happen often anymore where shoes are sold. Like other customers, I tried on several shoes to find the best fit, and had I been a runner, I would have been encouraged to take a short jog around and outside the store to judge if my selection was indeed the best solution. Yes, well-fitted, supportive sports shoes cost more than discount shoe stores or big box stores, but for people who are active in sports or people like me who just want happy feet, I'd say a trip to Fleet Feet is well worth the price of the shoes. By the way, I was told that, in spite of the shoe construction, people with prescribed arch support inserts should replace the sneaker insoles with their own arch supports....or purchase an insert from Fleet Feet...which also has a selection of sports socks that fit well (I bought 2 pair) and don't bunch up in the shoe or slide down the heel. My only wish for all sport / walking shoe manufacturers is this--In America we love the fun, glitzy, hot colors and jazzy shoe designs, BUT those things are not 'low profile' for traveling out of the USA (when we need excellent, supportive walking shoes) but in fact, the bright colored sneakers or bright white sneakers make our feet shout that we are Americans...not a bad thing of course,(Yay, USA!) but sometimes I want to blend into the crowd and not stand out. Highly recommend this store. Amazing customer service provided by Cathy. I went to the store with my brother to get him a pair of running shoes. Cathy did his gait analysis and explained the results. Then she got 3 shoes for my brother to try. She checked how he ran and how he felt every time. Since my brother didn't quite like the first 3 shoes, she got two more for him to try. Finally he liked one of them but the proper size (wide) was not in store. Since my brother was going out of town and was hoping to buy the shoes the same day, Cathy made few phone calls to check if any other store had the right size. She quickly found Omega sports down the street had the right size.Although this time we bought the shoe from Omega Sports, I will be back at Fleet Feet @ Birkdale village for my running gear and will also recommend this store to my friends. read more

Well, I'm not as impressed as your other customers, after walking in at 6:50 this evening a sales person asked what I needed? I then told him running shoes, inserts, inserts for work shoes, sports bra etc. he then asked me to sit down after doing so for a few minutes he came back and ask me if I could come back that they were closing and getting ready to have a staff meeting. REALLY! Then what I assume was the owner manager was at the front desk and I said something like staff meeting? Hope your learning customer service she proceeded to stop me oust side and basically just repeated what her sales person said. Seriously where has customer service gone? I worked with Kristin to find the perfect pair of tennis shoes. I liked the length of the sidewalk that you get to test shoes and employees watch you walk to see how shoes fit - a definite bonus over competitors (where you only walk a few paces in the store). The right size wasn't available, but ordering was an easy process. We ordered two sizes to make sure the right shoe was there when I returned a few days later.
