What a great first experience at Fleet Feet in Syracuse. I live about an hour away so I don't come here often; in fact I've never been here. they have great reviews and I needed new running shoes, so I made the drive. I did not have an appointment but I could see why they ask you to make one, all of the fitters were busy when I came in. I was immediately greeted by Kinyorda, who is so cheerful and helpful. she helped me process a return for something I purchased at the Boilermaker expo, even though I didn't have a receipt. Harper was my fitter and she was very thorough and kind. I came in the store thinking I wanted one thing, and she helped me determine that I needed something different. Although I did try on the shoes I initially wanted it wasn't the proper fit for my foot. Harper did a full scan of my foot and asked me all sorts of questions about what kind of activities I did. I ended up trying five or six pairs of shoes before we found the right ones. Harper was very patient and knowledgeable about the shoes and their different benefits. I cannot recommend Fleet Feet enough. I had a great experience and will be back when it's time for my next pair of sneakers. read more

Sitting in the parking lot after taking my grandma. Wayne greeted us and was friendly and informative and then Dawn fitted her and brought out options. Huge selection of options including their sales wall. Will absolutely be back here. read more

Had a great experience today. Took my son to get some running spikes for the upcoming track & field season. His feet were put on a digital sensor of some sort and they did a 3D diagnostic to get the perfect sizing. After trying the 2 our rep Matt suggested we decided on a pair. They even have a short runway for you to test the shoes outs. Matt was awesome, very knowledgeable and threw in a pair of socks for us! I will definitely be returning if we need anything running related. read more

I've been a customer of Fleet Feet for several years for running shoes and other running related merchandise. I continue to go back because of the personalized service that I receive when I'm there. The store has foot scanning technology available -- take the time to have the staff scan your feet as this will help them to identify the best shoe or shoes for you. Store staff might even recommend brands that you've never tried before -- be willing to consider those shoes as well. I had typically bought New Balance shoes in the past but my latest pair was Brooks based on the recommendation of the store's staff. The store's staff wants you to be satisfied with your purchase and offers a 60 day return policy, but if you take the time to discuss your purchase with the staff at the store before buying, you'll rarely end up needing to utilize the return policy. read more

I have been buying shoes from the store at the Armory for over 10 years . recently a situation happened and this review is so buyers should beware: Typically I buy two pairs of the same shoes so I know they will be available when one wears out. The first pair wore down over an inch on the left heel. I brought it back anfter a few months and said this never happens to me, heels wear down evenly. They didn't know what to say . I said perhaps they were not the proper shoes or defective. I asked for some kind of credit on the new pair I had bought, never worn. Not a full price return but perhaps a reasonable partial credit. They said NO! it has been too long of a time. I said well, ok. I bought a new pair of a different brand after they fitted it. 5 months later - there is absolutely no wear and the heels. I pay, as most people do, a lot of money for their shoes (over $160). I expected some type of customer service - I do not tell them what shoes I need, they tell me. So, in Rochester there is Foot Performance which I have heard a lot abot and their employees don't constantly leave . I will try them next. Fleet Feet lost me as a customer and all for even a $100 credit would have been acceptable. read more

Very impressed by the customer service provided by Noah, one of the fitting associates. He listened, asked the right questions, and made suggestions and offered sensible product alternatives. It might cost a little more to go to Fleet Feet to buy running shoes vs going through (for instance) Amazon, but the expertise is WORTH IT. End of discussion. I honestly can say the customer experience could not have been any better. Legit. read more

The only place you should buy sneakers in Syracuse if you care about: -good service: you get a one on one sales experience and they will spend as much time with you until you're happy -proper fit: part of your purchase is a foot measurement as well as getting your waking/running stride looked at so you are fit for the proper shoe. -good value: most of the shoes I've purchased I've seen for more money elsewhere. You also get $25 back for every $250 you spend -local business: Fleet Feet is owned by Syracuse natives. Why support a big box when you can get more here for less? -service after the sale: if you are unhappy with your shoes you can bring them back to get fitted for something else and they also offer group runs and running clinics read more

They were good. Make an appointment, they had no appointments available that day I went. I got HOKA shoes and they were $135.00 wishing I could have got them cheaper. read more

Wow -- it's like I entered the world of running snob-dom going to this place. First, you have to "check in" with someone to get service, which I found odd. The customer shouldn't be trying to optimize their queuing system, the store should figure it out on their own. Then, I waited more than 30 minutes to have an SU student talk to me about shoes. I mean, that's lovely that they hire students, but I wouldn't call a 30 minute wait for basic advice to be "worth the effort". Also, on the first time going to the store, I got the part-time accountant helping me -- again, online I did better myself. Then, when I finally found the shoes I wanted, they didn't have the right size. They said they could order them -- which I can, and did, do myself at Zappos for cheaper and quicker. Their knowledge of heartrate monitors was nominal, with the sales rep pulling the sales sheets out from the manufacturer, and all their models were old / obsolete. I finally chose a better brand, Suunto, at home, doing my own research -- which they didn't carry. Finally, the "greeter" was dressed like a marathon runner upon entering the store. She didn't take lightly to my comment asking why she was wearing yoga-running-type pants, but then again, my eyes didn't take lightly to seeing an adult which is pretty half-naked when I entered the store. Oh, and too, she was stand-offish -- hello, what a better way to sell NO product? I am and avid exerciser, I know my stuff, and I know what I want -- in the future, I'll go elsewhere, be it online or Dick's, just to get the sizing right. Finally, their outdoor-wear is extremely limited -- mostly all Nike corporate-wear stuff, with no heavy merino wools or anything -- hello, Smartwool? Actually, now that I think of it, I'll just go to EMS in the future -- friendler sales people lead to more sales, people -- !! read more

This is the place to go for all of your running essentials! They custom fit your sneak to your specific foot. It's like getting fitted for a tuxedo on your feet. This is the place to be for athletes and non athletes alike that are looking for the best fit for sneakers and other running/walking/triathlon apparel. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. There is some waiting because they are always busy. Also be prepared to spend roughly $150 on shoes, inserts and other accessories- but know that your body will love you and they guarantee their products... If something you buy doesn't vibe well with you, and let's say your new shoes or inserts are causing you more pain- they'll take them back! They also have great training programs, I highly recommend their running and triathlon programs. The coaches are amazing and work with you in such a positive and reinforcing way. read more

I came up to Syracuse for the 2014 Half-Ironman but left my shoes at home. Luckily, I figured it out along the way instead of finding out on race morning. I asked a race volunteer where to go for shoes and he immediately recommended Fleet Feet. Having done triathlons for over half a decade, I've had some great experiences at stores, with NYC's Jackrabbit being my home store. That said, my one time in Fleet Feet was by far, unquestionably, the best retail experience I've had. When I got there, Shelby greeted me and in a few minutes Liz was helping me try on shoes. Liz was one of the most passionate, kind, knowledgable, thorough, hard-working people that has ever helped me find a shoe the day before a race. It's easy to find knowledgable workers, but the enthusiasm and vibrancy that she showed made a really stressful situation into one of the highlights of my trip. OK, maybe I'm biased. I was in a tough spot and they helped me out. The shoes I got felt amazing the next day. I chopped 45 minutes off my previous 70.3 time though I attribute that to fixing my nutrition and focusing on the bike, instead of a super helpful sales team. Probably. read more

My last five pairs of running sneakers have been fitted and purchased at Fleet Feet. I keep going back because I appreciate the knowledgeable and friendly staff and the personalized, one-on-one attention they provide. The store is often busy but there are plenty of odds and ends to browse while you wait for an associate to start working with you. From reflective vests to energy gels/chews/beans and hands-free dog leashes to SPIbelts, Fleet Feet has everything you could possibly need for running. Every time that I've been fitted, a sales associate has asked about my running lifestyle. Based on the information I provide, they offer valuable advice and recommend appropriate sneakers and apparel to help me achieve my goals. Fleet Feet is also an integral part of our active community. They offer training programs for all fitness levels. If you attend any running event in or around the Syracuse area, it's likely that Fleet Feet is involved. read more

Friendly, knowledgable staff who take the time to make sure that if you are going to spend a good amount of money on shoes that you walk (or run) away with a properly fitting pair. They took the time to explain what they were looking for and what they saw in regards to my stride. I have never had a more comfortable, well fitting pair(s) of shoes! Same goes with apparel. I bought my tri suit from there and was thankful I was given the help because I most likely would not have gotten one that properly fit which would have negated a lot of the benefits! Oh and on another note--to the person who complained about the greeter wearing running gear and had the supposed audacity to ask why they were wearing that 1) it's a running store--dress for your audience so to speak ( would you prefer them in a three piece suit??) 2) you said you would be going to dicks from now on-- I frequent their stores quite a bit as well so as a word of warning the associates dress in attire fitting to their department-- you will see golf associates dressed in golf attire and yes, will see associates dressed in running attire including running pants---it'll be ok. read more

The services that they provide is worth all the rave I recommend anyone to this place

I went in expecting to pay an arm and a leg for a pair of sneakers that felt marginally better than anything I'd buy from a big box like Dick's (which is were I usually buy sneakers). I'd been suffering from foot pain recently, and was honestly hoping for a miracle when I went in. A MIRACLE IS EXACTLY WHAT I GOT. Not only did I not spend any more than I would have at Dick's, but my feet feel AMAZING after using these sneakers. Can you get the same product elsewhere? Sure! But I never would have ended up with the right show for my foot without the incredibly knowledgeable and helpful staff. I cannot recommend this place enough. (My co-workers tease me when I wear the sneakers - "are those the shoes Jesus himself sold you?") read more

The fit was very personal. So glad that I came in. Staff was very friendly and made sure to cater to my needs

Fantastic experience with the staff here. I've been a rower for over a decade, but I recently decided I wanted a change of pace by switching to running. I arrived at the store and quickly found myself helped by a remarkably knowledgeable clerk. I explained my training regimen and foot problems (overpronated foot that with overcorrection) and she ran off into the stock room to find shoes for me. We tried one pair of her selections that didn't work for my foot type. She immediately realized her mistake and took all of her selections back to grab new ones. All of her second round picks would have been great choices for me! Overall super impressed. Price point was not bad either - I spent about $130. read more

No one has reviewed this place? I am surprised, come on runners. This place wasn't bad. I remember waiting a good bit of time to be helped. I don't know how much they really know, but it seemed to be a decent store. read more

Our go-to place for running gear. Ed et al are WAY involved in the running community, support LOTS of events, and have a fantastic store as well. These guys KNOW their stuff: they will listen to your needs, then will fit you on their treadmill and indoor running track (plan to spend some time getting shoes here). All the latest running gear and bling, seasonal sales. I buy all my stuff here because I like the service and I want to support a bunch of people who are serious about taking care of their customers. I've shopped in running stores all up and down the East Coast, and this place stands out. Go here. read more

I have been a fan of Fleet Feet for years. They have always had the best staff, the nicest products and the most welcoming atmosphere. I took my annual trip (that was extended another year) to Fleet Feet in Syracuse for some new running shoes. Hank was absolutely fantastic (ask for him if you can!). He brought out two pairs of sneakers. The first pair was not a good fit and I told him that I needed a pair that hugged my feet better. We tried the second pair and they were perfect, just like magic! I also buy new moisture-wicking socks at every trip and he helped me grab some of those. For a new pair of sneakers and four pairs of new socks, it cost around $180. I consider that to be a fair price, as my body will thank me! The thing about Fleet Feet is that it is not just a store to buy shoes. Fleet Feet has the people with the most expertise, including Hank, and has formed a community of those seeking to become healthier. I have not yet been to a training program at Fleet Feet, but am seriously considering attending one. Regardless, Fleet Feet has the best products and the best people. read more

Don't go to this location, go to the one in Clay. Some of staff (not all ) has little to no knowledge on how to properly fit you in a proper running shoe. When I asking about the difference of the two running shoe she just looked at me blankly. All she did is match the exact shoe I walked in to the store with. I wanted to be taken care of properly because I've been shopping at fleet feet for a while. I usually shop at the fleet feet store in Ft. Gordon and it was amazing because they asked what I needed and if I have any injuries. I have had ankle issues and they properly assess how I run and fit me in the shoe that properly fits me in order to run without discomfort. Now this fleet feet employee did not care when I had told her I have an ankle injury and the reason I wanted to know the difference between the two Hoka's was to properly fit me. She didn't even care to see if I was running properly on the mini track. I truly have been a proud shopper at Fleet Feet for some time now and today I was not. I shop for my shoes every 6month. I really hope the moral changes to fit some of the better employees at that store because from my point of view there were employees that genuinely cared about there customer. I sadly did not receive that. Please fix ASAP read more
