The DSW's I frequent are the stores at Union Square and Atlantic Terminal. NYC people know exactly how these stores are, and I'm sure many would visit other locations if they could. During a recent visit upstate I visited the DSW in the basement of Carousel Mall and I honestly didn't know what to do first. There was so much room. So many aisles. So many shoes (and most were the same ones I saw in Union Square the week before). It was a glorious shopping trip. Anytime I can get out of NYC and into a suburban DSW I'm all over it. read more

I love coming to DSW because they always have a great selection of quality shoes on clearance. I'll admit to being thrifty with my money and I always make a b line for the clearance section. They usually have a great selection of season appropriate footwear in a variety of sizes in this location. In addition to this the store is always well stocked, clean, and staffed by friendly faces. If you splurge on shoes often they even have a pretty good rewards program. read more

I ordered 5 pairs of shoes on Amazon after reading careful reviews about how they were wide fit or good for casual work-shoe wear. All of them were tight in the toe box or were just not comfortable enough so all 5 had to be returned. So then, I came to DSW. I wasn't hopeful after my bad experience with shoes online (I thought online would have more options for wider shoes) but I was wrong! DSW has little stickers on the shoe boxes that come in wide fit. Hallelujah! I was able to get some super comfortable & lightweight Easy Spirit shoes for work (I don't care if it makes me look matronly or untrendy because their comfort is above all else). These weren't on sale but I ended up getting 3 other pairs of shoes from their sale section. Their sales were amazing! I was able to find wide calf boots that were super comfy and affordable. They were originally $190 and I got them for under $30. I also got BCBG sneaker slip-ons that were discounted from $50 to %15 and some booties that were also discounted by 50% down to under $30. The store is clean, well-organized and offers tons of options for any foot-type. My only complaint is that the lighting in there is a little dim and makes you a little sleepy. First time shopping here... It's kinda like Off Boardway Shoes. Very clean and organized. Shoes range anywhere from 20% - 60% off store prices...but I think the shoes are a season or 2 behind. Maybe that's just me. I didn't get anything but my sister bought some comfy black leather Aerosoles shoes for $70...regular price was $90. If you are looking for discounted sneakers...great place to shop. They have many selections. read more

3.5 stars Very large and very clean. The staff were out straightening up, offering their help, and putting out even more inventory! I visited this past weekend during a big sale with a huge clearance section with many items 40% to 70% off of the sale price. Picked up a pair of heels for only $8 so I can't complain. The regular (not on sale) selection is great, with everything from sandals/flip flops, to sneakers, canvas to semi-formal, and even dress shoes. The athletic shoes selection itself is quite nice with your solid well known and dependable shoes and the newer trend of minimalist shoes and everything inbetween. My friend ended up picking up a pair of Asics gel shoes for running (his go to shoes) for only about $60 and a pair of Italian dress shoes about $130. Both were great deals. Let me start by saying that I do love the store and their shoes. HOWEVER if you have a problem with an online order it takes FOREVER and I mean FOREVER to reach anyone by telephone. I ordered shoes and qualified for a free travel bag. The shoes showed in stock when I placed my order and I received a confirmation. They shipped the "free travel bag" on a Friday and the following Tuesday cancelled the shoes and sent me an adjusted total for my order. Yes NO LONGER FREE tote bag! What a pain. A few weeks ago, I witnessed employees racially profile a black woman and accuse her of stealing in front of the store's clientele. The woman stated she had made a purchase in this location only a week prior and had come to make an exchange, yet the employee matter-of-factly insisted that the woman had never been a customer in their store. Rather than acknowledging the absurdity of the employee's claims to knowing every DSW customer, or the manager fulfilling the transaction this woman was very willingly trying to make, they harassed her until she insisted they check the cameras. Of course, a simple swipe of the card would have pulled up past her DSW transactions, but it was only after someone actually checked the cameras that she was able to leave with her purchase. I write this review both to let DSW employees know their behavior and prejudice has been read loud and clear and to offer a word of warning to other black women in the area interested in visiting this location. read more

can't go wrong with dsw. great deals on shoes that i will likely wear into the ground and need to replace just a few months later. ok so this location gets 5 stars bc... unlike the dsw in union square in manhattan... i literally had the entire 8.5 clearance section to myself for 30minutes. not a single soul perused the shelves, blocked my view, or snatched the shoe i wanted. i was able to leisurely try on every pair of flats that looked halfway decent without being bothered. this is unheard of at most dsw shops. additionally, never is there such an extensive 8.5 section. while, sadly, i was unable to find anything on the clearance racks, this was by far the most peaceful experience at a dsw to date. read more

I would give 5 stars but I get into trouble when I step inside and go blind to anything that isn't cute shoes. I could spend every paycheck there because there are just so many options. I got my first pair of converse there. I love it. read more
