Gina was so personable and fun with my dad, who was visiting from out of town and needed to replace his old shoes. It took some convincing to get him to the Carrboro location, but it was crowded and my dad got frustrated with the wait. Gina at Southpoint was available as soon as we walked in, and her sunny personality put him instantly at ease. She got him on the foot scan, listened to his wish list and brought out a few different pairs that fit the bill. They didn't have the color he wanted in stock, but she gave us all the info we needed to order them online - a happy convenience as they'll be shipped directly to his house. When you are in the market for new running shoes please stop by Fleet Feet Southpoint and ask for either Mitchell and Garrett! These two men impressed me tremendously! I stopped by with the intention of gaining some tribal knowledge of what shoes were offered for me feet type and was so blown away by these young men I ended up purchasing not ONE pair but TWO pair of running shoes! Garrett did a great Job working with me helping me understand my feet and what makes mines different from others. He placed me on this machine that measured multiple features of my feet and then he begin to break the measurements down. Once he was finished he recommended three different types of shoes that he allowed me to try on. He even grabbed different insoles and socks for me to try as well. AMAZING experience with these guys today! Garrett nailed it when he was able to find a 'credit' that i had stored on file! Both guys are UNC students who are super intelligent! I had a really great experience at this location today. It was my first time at Fleet Feet -- we moved here from a place without this store -- and didn't know what to expect. I was greeted at the door and immediately given a sales associate who stayed with me the whole time. He did a scan of my foot and brought out several running shoes to try. I felt comfortable making a choice in large part due to their generous 60 days return policy, during which time they encourage you to try the shoes out so that you can feel certain they'll work. The store itself was clean, modern, and easy to navigate. I would definitely recommend if you're looking for running shoes! read more

I had such a great time here and I would highly recommend it for any runners - new or experienced! My consultant's name was ELSON and he was awesome. He spent over 1.5 hours with me, assessing my feet/walking, and making shoe recommendations. I have had flat feet and knee pain my whole life, and he considered those aspects when choosing shoes for me to try. Even though the store was bustling and packed, he never made me feel rushed. He was really knowledgeable about what type of support I needed, what sizes would work best for me with each brand, and what type of insoles would work best for my low arches. Visited this Fleet Feet for the first time today. Sure glad we stopped in! Our consultant was Tanner, who just recently transferred from Fleet Feet "Downtown Tupelo." Tanner was amazing. Knowledgeable and patient as we tried on quite a few sneakers before making our selections. Loved the foot analysis and the simple explanation. I have never had my feet fitted specially for shoes before. I was needing a new pair of runners and it had been a looong time (cough *decade*) since I had gone running, so I thought I should see the professionals. The salesman, Bayan, was attentive and did a very complete assessment. I tried on at least ten different pairs of shoes and it took a while to find a pair that felt right. He was not pushy at all; in fact he just let me ask the questions and he answered them. I ended up leaving with insoles as well as super cushy and comfortable shoes. I'm happy with my purchase, and so far the shoes have held up very well on my workouts. read more

A tale of two stores! I felt like I was reading Charles Dickens today in visiting 2 Fleet Feet stores. First, we had the absolute pleasure of visiting the Carrboro store where Jessica (who is actually their Marketing Director) helped us with multiple pairs of shoes, insoles, compression socks, massagers, and apparel. She spent a good hour with us when they were already quite busy. She was incredibly knowledgeable and did a foot scan and fitting. She was thorough, friendly, attentive and helpful. One of the best customer service experiences I've had in recent memory. When we were finishing up, there was one pair of shoes we wanted that were in stock in their Durham store. Jessica called over to verify they would hold the style and size for us. Right before we left, we added some insoles at the last minute, and Jessica offered to custom cut them but we decided we'd just do that when we got to the Durham store. Sadly, that is when the tale changed dramatically. Walking into the Durham store we asked about the shoes we had on hold. They all said they had not received any call about the shoes and looked bewildered and put out. Finally we clarified more and they went "oh yes, those shoes!" In a tone that implied we hadn't given them enough information, which was weird, but not rude. But rude soon reared it's head in the form of Duncan, one of the store clerks. He found he shoes and said "did she tell you these were in a narrow width?" It turned out they fit fine. We then said that Jessica had indicated we could have the insoles cut here. When we said this he kinda looked at us funny and said "why didn't you just have them cut over there?" in an annoyed tone. When we explained (which I am not sure why we owed Duncan an explanation, but whatever) he said "well who was your sales person over there.....well they should have NEVER let you out of the store without cutting those for you first". Again we explained the circumstances and said, "well can't you cut them?"and he said "well of course!" in a pretty disingenuous tone. The strange part was that the Carrboro store was SWAMPED yet Jessica treated us like we were the only customers in the store. In the Durham store it was virtually EMPTY and Duncan acted like we were a real bother. So 5 stars to Carrboro and Jessica. She is the epitome of why people come into brick and mortar stores to buy. Durham and Duncan are the antithesis - his poor service is why stores lose business to online shopping. I will post this also on the Durham site. The moral of the story - if you are planning to visit Fleet Feet and you expect to need service, avoid Durham and go to Carrboro. If it is a pretty simple transaction like picking up some apparel or energy gu or something, Durham is probably fine. read more

I'll start by saying I hate shopping for new running shoes. Especially now that they are all obnoxious with hideously bright neon colors. I work on my feet all day in the hospital and go to the gym pretty regularly. I usually hold onto my shoes for far too long because of the dreaded experience of finding new ones. A friend recommended Fleet Feet because all the nurses were impressed with the fitting and selection. I knew going in I would be a nightmare customer and I certainly was! Vince brought out probably 20 pairs of shoes for me after doing all the fancy foot scan stuff. He was so patient and kind. He made the experience way less painful than I anticipated it being in my head! Not only did he do this once, but he did it again exactly 3 days later when I returned after going to REI, dicks, and new balance. I ended up with a perfectly fitting, all day on the feet shoe. It's not the most beautiful shoe (to me) but the shop doesn't make 'em (they fit them to your perfect foot!) and it turns out there is no beautiful running shoe in earthy neutral colors. What a wonderful experience getting help for my first pair of running shoes. Erik was so helpful and sincere in getting me in the perfect shoes for training for my first 10-miler. Erik helped me try on at least 5 different brands of shoes, taking the time to explain what was important in finding the right shoes for my running and my feet. Very customized. 3 of my family members have been here and raved about the feet scan and quality/comfort of shoes. Being flat-footed with long feet for a woman (size 11) I've only ever been comfortable in rainbow flip-flops or boots. The cheap sneakers I have hurt and I rarely use them (and thus rarely work out). Deciding it was time to pony up for quality and learn about my feet I made an appointment for a scan. Avery was the person who helped me and he was amazing! He was very knowledgeable and kind, he took his time explaining my scan and listening to what I was looking for: an everyday wear shoe that could do brisk walking/workouts while giving me proper support. Avery brought out several shoes for me to try, all tailored to what I wanted and was the picture of patience as I tried them all on and walked around in them. He was thoughtful and attentive in listening to my observations and answering questions. I didn't feel rushed or judged, most importantly Avery did a great job in making me feel like what mattered most was finding the best shoe for me, not making a sale or upselling me. In the end, because of his professionalism and expertise I ended up leaving with a new pair of shoes, inserts for my flat-feet and a couple pairs of socks that are the most comfy socks I've ever worn. I'm excited to utilize them, work out and not wake up in the middle of the night with foot cramps anymore! If you go to this store ask for Avery, he did a great job. (Though, I will also commend the other people working there as I saw each of them kindly and knowledgeably working with their clients for the perfect fit.) I wish they worked on commission and not just hourly as service like that should be rewarded, but since they're not I wanted to leave this review. Having psoriatic arthritis is very important to find shoes that functional and comfortable. Bryan and I went into Fleet Feet and were greeted promptly by Jordan. We both had to admit that at first it was a bit intimidating, the sleek store, athletically clad consultants, and technology. Jordan put us at ease, for what was an amazing experience. Jordan I believe was the manager, as he had many tasks facing him, He employed another consultant to help us, but returned when he was finished and focused on me, while the other guy focused on Bryan. Our feet were measured and results explained, many pairs of shoes brought out and as we were fitted, they both expertly gathered information, and facts to find my perfect fit. I purchased 2 pairs of socks, a pair of shoes and inserts, and the few times I've worn the shoes, It's like walking on a cloud. I have not had my feet feel this good ever. We both thought the service was phenomenal, Bryan's shoes are not quite as comfortable to him, but he's going to go back and talk to them, as they both made it clear that our comfort and happiness was of the utmost of importance. The staff was helpful and friendly. I was disappointed the store didn't have the size of the shoes I wanted to buy. But, no big deal, I went to their online store and purchased them. The biggest disappointment is that it took a week for the product to ship and will be another week to receive it. I think that is more of a corporate problem than a store problem. Either way, it's a problem when your store can't provide the product they sell and then the order takes to weeks to deliver. If I had to do over, I would pay $20 more on Amazon, but would have received them 10 days sooner. Nice store, will not go back though. read more

Horrible customer service, or probably only for someone who looks like me. When I arrived all employees were assisting customers. I walked around for a bit to find a few options I liked. After about 5 minutes I took a seat on the bench across from a male employee. A few other customers walked in and were greeted by the the male employee. At this point not a single employee spoke to me, welcomed me, or asked if I needed help. Another customer walks in, was welcomed, and asked if she needed shoes. She said yes, so the male employee asked her if she had signed in. She said no and he directed her to the board. At this point my feelings are hurt, I am on the verge of angry tears, so I left. I felt so unwanted and disrespected. I was referred here by a friend who gave this place awesome reviews. The technology looks amazing, but they do not deserve my business. read more

Some stores are my guilty pleasures and Fleet Feet is one of those stores. Jon O and I participated in our first Piyo (pilates/yoga combo) class, which is one of the main reasons we went here instead of the store near our house in North Raleigh. The class itself was $5 donation taken by cash or credit card and we were given a 10% discount at the store on winter clothing. The store was spacious and clean. Everyone is really nice. I haven't ran with this store yet but I would check them out sometime since it's more convenient for me after work. read more

I worked with a Dr. who once told to me "You can never spend too much money on the mattress you sleep on, tires for your car or the shoes on your feet". The older I get the more I understand what he means. With that said this place is expensive but on par with other retail stores. I log some serious miles and the only thing that keeps me going is a good pair of tennis shoes. I was fitted for my Brooks years ago and just needed an update. They had what I needed in stock and got me in and out the door in no time. If you are experiencing pain or thinking about starting a fitness program these people can get you the right pair of shoes. They will measure your feet and analyze your gait to find what shoes work best for you. I have been to Bull City Running Company but I like Fleet Feet better. They focus more on injury prevention and treatment here at Fleet Feet which is what I am all about. read more

I have been a customer of Fleet feet for about the last 3 to 4 years. I have bought virtually every pair of athletic footwear for myself and my kids in this time period. Although I have very rarely had problems with their products, the few times I have, the level of professionalism and customer service has been nothing less than exceptional! I just left the store in Durham a few minutes ago and brought back a pair of running shoes that were several months old that were causing me discomfort and without question or challenge, they did not just exchange them for me but the manager Jordan that nearly 45 minutes with me making sure I was in the exact right pair for fit and comfort. These days that level of customer service is almost impossible to find and that's why I remain a loyal customer. And, i'm not even a runner! read more

Went in looking for a solid pair of running tennies for the BF. I have been telling him for a while that well-fitting shoes make a world of difference and wanted him to get a foot eval. I bought some Hoka cliftons a couple weeks ago in a rush and just didn't like them when I ran. I came in to the Durham store today to return them and David was amazing. Because of my work I'm required to be on my feet and walking round 8-10 miles per day and I was looking for a good shoes and a place where I can try them ( I'm not much of a online shopping... specially shoes) so googled a shoes store in the area and came up across this place. At first I was shock how attentive and caring they were (thought to myself--...well, it's business!) And I notice they pay special attention to your needs. Compare to big name brand store. Long story short; I got me a pair of shoes a few weeks ago but after few days of use I notice sth was not right with shoes I took it back and no question ask.. they replace them and I am very happy with this place and for sure I'll be investing/spending my money here in the future.
