A shiny new Sierra location in Mequon, and boy am I excited! I believe they opened mid-November,…read moreand I've already made a few visits. For those who don't know, Sierra is part of the TJX companies (others include Tj maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods), so you better believe they have sweet deals. Plus, it just feels like the most high-end version of all those stores. So big, open and clean. Very well organized. And they pretty much have something in every category: name-brand outdoor gear, apparel, footwear, home goods, kids items, unique gifts and more. Attractive looking store, plentiful parking, fast checkout, good prices.

Date of visit: February 21, 2025…read more Sierra has become one of my "go to" spots when traveling to find deals on clothing and pet items, so I was pretty stoked when I saw that there was a new location in Mequon, just 10 minutes or so from my house and in an area that we found ourselves regularly. The store--not surprisingly, given its newness--is quite clean and more impressively, is very orderly. One of my pet peeves of the TJX Co stores is that racks are often a shitshow of mismatched hangers and tags, which I never understood: If the hanger tag doesn't match the item, I'm not going to find what I want and I'm going to give up. Who does that benefit? I didn't have that issue here, but sadly did not find anything I needed/wanted in terms of clothing this time around. Checkout was a breeze and the cashier was very engaging, just wish I could say that for the rest of the staff that walked around the store like I was starring in my own personal version of "The Sixth Sense," since they didn't interact with me because I was apparently dead and just didn't know it yet.

This is more of a review of Marmot than of Fontana Sports. I bought my first Marmot down jacket…read morehere, and it lasted almost twenty years before the zipper broke. It kept me so warm and toasty in the brutal upper Midwest winters. I discovered the Marmot brand here in the 1990s. Back in the 1990s, Patagonia was not considered as "technical" and as bougie as Marmot and The North Face. Arcteryx either didn't exist or was an obscure brand almost thirty years ago. Now, Patagonia and Arcteryx are off-the-charts insanely priced. Marmot and The North Face are considered "value" brands. In any case, I still buy Marmot; it's better quality and far better value than Patagonia because: 1. Higher down fill power and 2. Higher down fill weight I recently bought a 700-fill down parka from Marmot with 220 grams of down for far less money than a 600-fill down parka with 150 grams of down from Patagonia. I was cold in the Patagonia parka, and it was horribly expensive. I had to return. I also bought coats from Eddie Bauer and from L.L. Bean. Nowhere nearly as warm as Marmot. The Marmot down parka that I recently bought is called the Montreaux Coat, and I've yet to find a warmer coat at such a great price point. It hits my knee, although it's supposed to hit my calf, so that's a bit misleading on their website. It's closer to parka length than coat length. I like that when the zipper broke after almost twenty years of owning my first Marmot down jacket, I called Marmot's Customer Service, they sent me a shipping label, and they said that they would gladly repair the zipper for me, for free. When they couldn't repair the zipper, they just sent me a new Marmot down jacket. So, I wore that complimentary replacement jacket for another ten years before finally buying the Montreaux coat this year almost thirty years after buying my first Marmot down jacket from Fontana Sports.

i still miss the west side store! Every day!!!!! Wonderful store! Ski tuning was wonderful!read more

Unfortunately the need was urgent for us to have it done. I took it in and there was hesitation on whether it could be done at all and if so, if the brake would fit over the fender. After expressing my urgency and the why behind getting this done, I was told to leave it there and I would get a call by the end of the day. I was expecting the call to tell me whether or not it could be done but when the call came in, it was to tell me the installation was completed. I went to get the bike and discovered that they were indeed able to not only get the hand brake on but did not have to remove the rear fender. Because of their hard work and expedited install, our daughter was able to take the necessary classes to learn how to ride a bike. As of today, "Joelle" (bikes name given by my daughter) is being ridden with no assistance from us other than take off. Thank you to the team out at Expedition Supply. You won over a new customer and I will be bringing in our bikes anytime we need service, to you. The joy and excited of watching our daughter ride her bike independently is priceless and was provided to us in part by your team.

Ok let's go back to about nov. purchased a bike from them. I'm out in CA so I bought eBay then…read morefound out the bike was at this store front so I called them direct and purchased from them. 2021 fat quad bike came fast easy transaction. Then bike shows up in box looks to be not opened then while opening notice bike has no oakley grips. ( little did I know VERY EXPENSIVE). Not a big deal went to my local shop picked up a set of cheap grips to get by. Talked to a bunch of employees to try and just have the grips shipped for back up before doing research and finding out there worth like 300$. Called and talked to the owner Mike he told me grips were nothing special and he'll send me a pair that cost around 25$. He knew rite off the bat they were way more and tryed to get one over on me. Talked to another employee a week later when I found out the actual price of the grips he informed me bike parts in the past from SB tend to come up "not in the package". Meaning someone in the store likes to take there pick of certain things (mine came with no grips he told me another came with no pedals). At this point I'm pissed rite. Mike says we can't do nothing until SB sends replacement parts. I contact sb direct they say no problem have the store open a case well send them out. I talk to Mike he snuffs me for like 3 months then says he can't deal with it transfers my issue to a guy name John and he'll reach out. 6 months later 1300$ bike no grips no emails to resolve and a bunch of lies back to back. His own employees talk about he's shady and parts come missing BUYER BEWARE.

Whether you're into the wilderness or not, Cabela's is worth a visit!…read more I've visited twice for their complementary photos with the Easter bunny and Santa. The staff is very kind and helpful with navigating the process. They have a larger selection of hunting, fishing, camping, outdoor equipment for sale. They also have a cute selection of clothes and boots for the whole family, infants to adults. They carry a lot of major brands and their own brand which seems like the best value. I'd definitely return and check out the taxidermy installations they have around the store. Parents--this would be a great rainy/cold day activity for the young ones!

Cabela's specializes in hunting, fishing, boating, and camping merchandise that has been a subsidiary of Bass Pro Shops. So if you are in the need for something in this area, Cabela's has it. I did a quick internet search of the product I was looking for and Cabela's had the best price. The store is huge, but I've been told the Cabela's in Memphis is 10 times the size with the boats in a pond in the store with restaurants and a hotel on the top story. The service was outstanding. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. For the stock, variety and price, I'd make the drive. I was in so much awe that I didn't take many pictures. I'll add when I visit again.
