The wine was excellent, especially loved the Merlot and Pinot Noir. The winery itself was great, small, quaint, a very personal atmosphere. Having a fire going in the fireplace on the chilly April day was a nice touch. The staff? Knowledgeable, friendly, fun. Made for a very personal experience. I liked that they even came and talked to us and when we had questions they sent the winemaker/owner over. Can't wait to return and share this new place with friends! Nice job Emerita.

This was the most crowded of the wineries we visited, and the patios were getting a bit cluttered, as there weren't really trash cans or anybody bussing the tables. I enjoyed the white flight, the Temptation was my favorite, and we shared a fruit and cheese plate with an apple, crackers, bread and a fantastic aged chedder. The apple was served whole, with a steak knife to carve it up yourself, on a Styrofoam plate, so didn't quite match the scenery and overall vibe, and a steak knife is not the right tool to cut a huge honeycrisp apple. So it was a nice snack, but could have been done a little better. FYI - the actual winery is not super accessible - steps up to the front door, the bathrooms are down a flight of stairs, and the outdoor areas for enjoying your wine are mostly accessed by stairs as well.

Exiting the back of the church you come upon a couple giant flight of stairs that could be a problem for some visitors. These stairs lead to a seating area up on a platform that feels like you are perched on part of a castle overlooking the fields of grapes. I must confess I'm not a wine expert. I enjoyed the flight of dry reds I ordered. My friend ordered the charcuterie board which had a huge wedge of bread and a very tasty cheese we kept begging for more tastes of.

The last time it was very warm inside but the grounds outside are very nice. I had a wonderful Musette wine. We had purchased a bottle of this and two bottles of the Gwertztraminer. It was recommended by a nice young lady at Baci to come here. She said that is from the area and this is her place to visit when it comes to Gwertztraminer. She wasn't kidding, it was a very good wine. When I sampled the Musette, I smelled it and said American Oak? she smiles with a yes. What is incredible is that all of the wine that is available is all sourced from the estate property. She said the building next to the winery is where they make all of the wine. I plan on stopping back the next time we are in town. Good service and great wine.

Had the privilege of meeting with Eric Cotton, owner and wine maker. Because we were early in the day, spent over an hour with him. Got to experience and learn about all of the varietals of wine and he's doing an exceptionally good job. Particularly impressed with the dry riesling, the Meritage Rose (no one else making anything like it), the dornfelder, and three very complex great cabernet sauvignon's. Read my thoughts about all the wines at my blog, winesagereview.com. We ended up going home with a near case and that's unusual for us since we already have a lot of wine. Very much enjoyed learning all that they're doing and highly recommend someone stop by there's a wine connesiour and those wanting to learn more about the Grand River valley. It's a wooded setting, which offers plenty of shade, and makes outdoor seating so nice. They also have a nice bar area indoors, if that is your preference. The servers are very polite and amiable. She said yes, and then put me on hold to ask her manager if we could sit on the upper patio since it wasn't very busy. She said they would make an exception, so we drove out from another winery. After finding a table off to the corner (there were only two other tables occupied at the time)- the waitress said we had to move across the "parking lot" to an open gazebo that was clearly not set up for service yet. So we moved, but since we were in nowhere land we decided to just put the dog in the car to enjoy our wine back on the patio. I understand if you are not dog friendly, but I did call ahead and wouldn't have showed up if I knew we weren't going to be sitting within distance to enjoy the atmosphere. As for food - we ordered the artichoke dip and it had about 3/4 cup of dip - the rest was a chunk of bread. Margarita pizza was good. We'd come back again, but bummed how the evening went.

Both of us were very satisfied by our selections. I also enjoyed the cheeseburger and fries that I got from their outdoor grill. The burger was about a third of a pound, and topped with your choice of cheese, lettuce, tomato, and/or onion. It was cooked perfectly, and I enjoyed eating it in their outdoor seating area, in a grassy location nestled under the trees. Beautiful setting, with lots of plants and flowers. An added bonus was the live music provided by a band that entertained us.
