We were told to get there early before the Los Trancos parking lot is full. We got there on a Saturday around 10:30am and there was only one row in the back with open spots. We opted to take the short walk downhill to the beach rather than wait to take the shuttle. It was a nice walk and there's a cool tunnel along the way too. The visitor center and gift shop were very nice. Everyone working there was super friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell they love their jobs. The beautiful beach was busy but clean. There's a nice restaurant there with great Bloody Mary's and food. It does get busy on the weekends.

It was a detail that got lost in the mix on my part, and because of her we got that pro rated rent back. Shes as honest as they get. Would definitely stay again, and recommend this place to anyone in my position.

My review is regarding site number C 32 and the Campground…read more I made reservations months in advance after planning with some friends. Reservations were easy with no problems. I selected my site based on where my other friends had made reservations. I have never camped at this campground, but heard nothing but good things. As I was driving through the Campground, I noticed that some of the RVs parked look like they are permanent residence. I didn't drive the entire campground, but the area I drove through to get to my site was a very clean a lot of trees and very green grass. I arrived at my site C 32 (back in parking) from what I could see from my car, a picnic table under a large tree was available at my site. The Bluff side does not provide fire pits. On the Bluff there is dry brush so I could understand why no fire pits on the Bluff. Luckily, my friends had the inner sites across from the Bluff, which provided fire pits. I started my hook ups and noticed a smell, it didn't smell like manure, but like dogs business. I noticed a metal trash can on the corner of my site so I opened it to see if it was coming from there, but it wasn't. It seemed like it was coming from the bluff at my site. It was very windy so I constantly could smell this. The good thing is I hung out at my friends sites and couldn't smell the same thing there. I noticed there was a lot of coyotes sounds at night and actually someone walking on the street so I don't know if it's the coyotes business in the bushes. Anyhow, that was just the only issue. My trailer is a Teardrop. So I took showers that was located close by. No coins or tokens needed. There are two shower stalls with a bench located just outside the showers. The shower stall that I used which was the first one as you walk in provided one hook that had two prongs. There are four toilet stalls, one being handicap accessible. The bathrooms were free of spiderwebs and very clean. It is well lit around the bathroom at night. From my site C 32 I had view of the lake but C 35 on up what is centered of the view of the lake. I found this to be the perfect spots. We camped here, September20th till the 24th. We still had summer weather with a couple of hot days, but in this area, it was constant breeze, which helped if you were not directly in the sun. I have to mention that at check-in the staff were friendly and helpful. I also have to agree with one of the other Yelper's that reviewed the prices are high but all of the other campgrounds I have visited are the same so I will not dock stars because of that reason. Everything nowadays is expensive. I noticed that they have Bonelli staff patrol during the day and night. On the day of my checkout, as I was leaving, I heard a voice and turned to see a gal at the kiosk saying thanks for staying with us and hope you visit again. I thought that was a nice way to send off a customer. That would be one of the reasons that would bring me back. I would definitely come back but probably pick a different site like C 36 or 35. I canceled three reservations but never received the refunds. I was told the money had been refunded to the "card on file," but the card they identified was not mine and was not the card I used for the original transactions. I contacted management for assistance, but they refused to resolve the issue and told me that this is simply how their system works. I still do not understand why a refund would be issued to a card other than the one used for the original purchase. Be careful. I am now pursuing the matter through formal legal channels.

There is free Wi-Fi; however, streaming might have issues when the park is full. Free laundry room! Well kept and modern located with the park restrooms. Our Verizon wireless router seems to have issues between 6 and 8 PM but works fairly good otherwise. Great T-Mobile 5G coverage! There's a small NEX within walking distance. No Restaurant on base however they do offer lunch at the gym/sailor Center during the work week. The gym is a very short walk from the park and is open 24/7! They offer a variety of fitness programs if you would like to participate. Very modern facility and equipment! There are several wonderful restaurants in the area! There's even a great little dive bar called Dave's Other Place where many Sailors stop on their way to Main Street when in port.

Normally from the top and working my way down to the MASH filming site. Hence not knowing about the actual full camping experience. Anyway, lol... We were meeting some friends to help them celebrate a big birthday over the weekend. Me and camping, that's something we can discuss later. I'll just say, I'm more of the fours season, room service and nice comfy bed, enough said. It's actually not that far off the 101 freeway. Give or take a couple miles heading towards the mountain just past Mulholland. Make a right at the entrance sign and you're greeted with the park ranger station. We were only here for the day to meet up with friends but fees are implied. Hourly at 3.00 or you can get the full day for 12.00. Upon check in, they do ask where you're heading to and so on. We had to give our friends information, their campsite number and first and last name. It was pretty busy when we arrived Sunday afternoon as I believe there was a marathon that was happening. From the ranger station, it was maybe a mile or so down the road to the campsite. It was a straight shot up. You do get a lot of people here which I did not know or been to this side. The campsite has assigned parking spot for 2 cars I believe. They do have overflow parking spots if you have other cars. Spots are assigned with a bbq grill and a picnic table and water spigot. Looking around the site, some are bigger where it seems like you could get a couple of tents while others looked like it's mainly room for one tent. Campsites are pretty close to each other depending on what side you get. Parking is pretty decent in size for a trailer as well as a car. There's no camping bones in me so I cant review on roughing it...lol... Restrooms are scattered throughout which was nice. Decent and clean with a good amount of toilet paper but no seat covers. Bring your own please. They had sinks inside each of the restrooms as well as the communal on the sides. Showers are available and but a small fee if you wanted hot water. Our friends said it was quite nice with the cool water as it was pretty hot out. Just be careful around your surroundings as you are in nature. But being in the campground, it was safe but still be cautious. I don't know if it was the food we had or what but the bees and wasps was loving our site. It made it quite uncomfortable trying to eat. Hiking is nearby with a good amount of trails. Some of the group did do a hike to the pond/creek which there's still water but green. I don't know if there's a pool in the area for cooling down. Overall, the place was quite nice and organized. Campsites are decent and pretty much nice that grill and picnic tables are included. Some sites does get full sun while some was nice with shade as there's trees surrounding. Fees wasn't expensive as well as daily site fee. It does get dark at night as expected so make sure to have a flashlight. Pets are allowed on the campground. Over, it was pretty nice knowing that this was just a little ways out of the city and your in nature.

After taking my nephews baby bump photos a couple years ago we've been back a couple times to camp. Both experiences were wonderful. We were able to try out both sides of the campgrounds. Our most recent camping trip was in the middle of June. Weather was great in the 80's and we didn't really notice with the cool breeze passing by. Our spot was perfect! We had a giant tree giving us shade on our picnic table during the day and a big open field to gaze at the stars at night. We were just a short walk across the field to get to the restroom/showers. We stayed for 2 nights. Everyone there was very friendly and observed the quiet time at 10 pm. Will definitely be coming back again in the future! Only con is I wish that they would post the fire condition on the website so you can prepare before heading out on your trip. We brought some fire wood not knowing that the fire conditions were yellow. Tried calling before we left the house but no one answered the phone. Had we know. We would have brought more propane to cook with. They do sell fire wood at the campground, but that doesn't so anyone any good when fire conditions are high. The closest store is a bit far away so just come prepared for both conditions if you decide to come during summer.
