I am always on the lookout for an affordable, delicious, healthy meal that I can easily pick up for lunch or dinner. I am too tired sometimes to even think about what to make and grabbing unhealthy, fatty fast food has happened one too many times lately. I am normally super health conscious but since Covid,  I just haven't been able to stay on my healthy eating plan. Flame Broiler, in the Vons shopping center is my new GO TO!!! ! I ate here for the first time today and I was shocked at how tender and tasty the brown rice,  veggies and beef bowl was. Much better than Waba and more affordable. The portions did not disappoint as they normally have at other places and the customer service was great. Friendly and super helpful, Kennedy greated us when we walked in, explained how I could order since it was my first time and I even got a free drink when I checked in on my Yelp. The 80s music made it feel festive and gave a good vibe. They even have a loyalty program so we'll definitely come back. This was the much needed new "find" to help me get back on track with my healthy eating!!! read more

Went to get a quick lunch to go. Placed our order, they have you pick your sauces can get 3 for a regular bowl and 2 for a mini, which is fine, different but understand i guess. Note they were all only halfway full too. Where it was very odd and the employee had a little attitude was when we asked for chopsticks. The guy replied with "i already put forks in the bag". Normally other places will just give us the chopsticks no issues this guy straight up had us exchange the forks for chopsticks! Never given a plastic fork BACK to a flame broiler after asking for chopsticks. Times are tough I guess. read more

I just wanted to say what a great location this is. On Saturday for my lunch I went in for my usual usual (plate, Half and half, white rice, veggies, all salad no orange) Customer service was exceptional even threw in extra utensils and sauces! I didnt catch his name but to the tall cashier, thank you 10/10 this app only goes up to 5..... New may have just become my new favorite spot. read more

The tall cashier /cook has a horrible attitude I asked for 3 mini bowls and 2 regular I was in process of telling him the rest and he said what you want I don't read minds so I repeated what I wanted and he ONLY CHARGED ME FOR 1 mini chicken bowl ! So if you're gonna give nasty attitude make Sure you at least get the order correctly!!! Disgusting behavior and service!! Visited last week for the 1st time in a couple of years, young man on duty was exceptional, great demeanor, understood the importance of customer service specially to a senior citizen. Because of this young man, I return today to get some lunch, the experience today was so sad that I will never visit this location again. It saddens me that I have to say something negative like this, the two people on duty today. Need to go to sensitivity classes and need to understand without returning customers their business will become a flop. Staff is extremely rude. Corporate didn't seem to care much. Took my statement, and that was it.

This is my second time to this location within a 10 day period, so I felt it necessary to leave a fair and honest review. The customer service is great. The staff are thorough and courteous. During these inflation times it's tough, so while it's expected to pay $12-$20 for a single person, it would be nice to have fresh oranges and cabbage (browned and old) - lack of freshness in both areas happened on both occasions / visits. Dining in during this cold winter days (esp the evening) is not suggested, as the owners have chosen to keep the heat off for its customers (the staff are presumably warmed up being near the grills!). I don't care for these thrifty ownership practices, making me less inclined to visit again. Aside from these small-ish issues, the food is very good. l and the portions are fairly generous. Will definitely come again, but maybe not for dining in during this cold winter days. read more

While waiting for my order, I pulled down my mask to take a sip of my drink & was immediately scolded & asked to put my mask back on! When I explained that I was just taking my mask down to take a sip of my drink, I as told that it didn't matter & that I could drink outside if needed. Wow. I am all for public safety (whatever that looks like). But to be singled out & reprimanded in public by a pair of condescending young ladies is not a good way to keep loyal patrons. You can't make this stuff up.... I called before to make sure they were open. Ordered 2 sides of beef just as I had done two days before and was told by the server (who has been working there for two years) that "they don't sell sides of meat" I told her I had been there before and had never had a problem. "WELL I DON'T KNOW HOW TO RING THAT UP" I was stunned. So you're saying you won't sell me a side of beef because you don't know how to ring it up? "Yes, I would have to charge you for at least rice" UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! So I went to the Montclair location which was a bit farther but so worth it. There they served two sides of beef no problem. When I told them about my experience at the LaVern location they told me that they get a lot of their business from LaVern and that I wasn't the first person to come in and complain about the service in LaVern. The Montclair location has everything you are expecting from a normal FB experience. They will sell sides, are open during their specified business hours and are completely professional. If this location ( the LaVern location) were to close down it would not be a loss. read more

I've been a big fan of Flame Broiler since 2009 when I started working near the San Dimas location. So I was excited when one opened in La Verne, closer to where I live. But I after reading the Yelp reviews of the La Verne location, I had been hesitant to go here because many reviewers were unhappy with the portion sizes. Well, I finally went to the La Verne location this week because we had a craving and this is close to home. I have to agree with the other reviewers about the skimpy portions. Our regular-size bowls were only about 2/3 full. Prior to this visit, I had always gone to the San Dimas location. San Dimas consistently packs their bowls with so much food that they have to squish them down just to fit the lid on. That is always the case there. You definitely get your money's worth at that location. So how sad it was to get so little by comparison from the La Verne location. I think the people who run this Flame Broiler need to go try the San Dimas location to see how it's done. Like I said, San Dimas has been packing their bowls to the very brim for at least the past 10 years I've been going to that one. And if it's a cost thing, well San Dimas is doing something right if they are able to provide the larger portions. The taste of the food was still good at La Verne, and the service was friendly enough, but the portion sizes just don't match up to that other Flame Broiler location, so I'm only going to get mine at San Dimas from now on. Also, please fix or turn on the air conditioning at the La Verne location. Box fans just don't cut it. And the bowls could use more than just one small cup of Magic Sauce -- offer more, please. It definitely seems like someone is pinching their pennies at the La Verne Flame Broiler. Food quality and service are good, but with these portions and other shortcomings I just can't give 4 or 5 stars here. read more

Normally this place is great. Especially since they are under new ownership. I go here quite often because it improved so much and has reliable hours. However I just got home after picking up my order and was really disappointed in the small portion of chicken and rice in the bowl. When you pay just over $9 for a bowl of rice and chicken it should have far more in it. The rice and chicken combined, barely filled the bowl half way. Not sure I'll ever return. If I have to check and make sure that I'm not being skimped on my food before I leave a business, it's not worth my time or money. read more

This is in response to Robert B review. I was eating when I overheard the tail end as that's when the customer started raising his voice. Which struck me as odd since I didn't hear the employee say anything rude or threatening. What I heard was a customer who was talking down to an employee, saying how the Verizon store and the jewelry shop got robbed, and how he should be careful because your store is next. I thought to myself how does he know Flamebroiler is next? Does the customer know this. And that when I heard the employee ask should we call the police? "Understandable I mean if I worked at an establishment and I was told by a stranger your store is going to be next, I would think about the safety of my coworkers. That's when the customer started yelling and ranting. To be honest I didn't pay too much attention but you can tell by his demeanor that the customer was just having a bad day, and was just looking to let off steam. He left in such a rush I can hear his tires squealing on his way out of the parking lot, Like he had just committed a crime. TLDR I had great customer service and some people need to take it easy. Employees do not get paid enough to deal with other people's problems. 10/10 this is my new favorite store. Will visit again. read more

I was excited to try out Flame Broiler today. I woke up late and didn't have time to prep my lunch. The online menu gave me happy info that there was salad or veggies instead of rice, which made me ecstatic! However, when I ordered my meal, with veggies as a base, I received my meal with white rice. I didn't get my receipt, so I don't know if it was the cashier or the server who messed up.... but with diabetes, I couldn't eat more than 50% of my meal. I liked the hot sauce, though. read more

They ran out of Chicken at 6:15 PM because they said they had a big rush. Yes, that is when people eat dinner, figure it out. They said the new chicken wouldn't be ready for another 45 minutes, doesnt take that long to make chicken. No complaint about the food or employees, but most Flame Broiler locations allow you to serve your own sauce. This one does not. I understand they might do it for cleanliness and/or to cut down on waste. They give you 3 sauces per bowl and charge you for each extra sauce. I spent $15 for a chicken bowl with extra chicken. The least you can do is give me some extra sauce without charging for it. read more

If your ok with bad food handling then this is the place for you. The same person who was taking my order, stopped to help another employee prepare bowls. Didn't wash her hands and didn't wear gloves. Then another employee (possibly the owner) rang up some customers and also was handling food prep - NOT WASHING HIS HANDS, which his hands looked gross like a mechanics hands. I'm so grossed out.
