I was more interested in the Jewelry. I wanted something meaningful to take home from this trip and wanted to invest in a ring. "The Earring Lady" who we now also call Sandra the Crazy Lady was the one to help us. I picked out a ring and she talked it up and let us try them all on. I wasn't looking to invest in anything too pricey at this time but i did find a nice Garnet ring I really liked. Of course after purchasing I find the exact same ring (engravings and all) online for $35. How much did I end up paying for this ring in store? $350. After doing more extensive research everything about this ring just screamed scam. We tried to go back to the store to resolve this issue and just get a refund. I brought my proof that the ring was indeed not real and Sandra was not having it. She said that she had made all of her jewelry when we were in there during the purchase but then changes her story when we came back to make the return. She said her husband "the elf" is the one who made all the rings and rubbed it in our face that since he had passed we can't do anything about this situation. She said I had fallen for an internet scam and that her ring was indeed real. We went about this in the most reasonable and respectful way possible. She basically tried to make me feel dumb and like we were "attacking her." She started to bang on the counter and saying that we were disrespecting her business and was just trying to get us out of the store. I tried to kindley ask for a refund and said I would not leave a review about her fake products and her scamming me. However she did not take this. She tried to tell me she went to the mountains of tennessee and layed out a burlap mat and looked at the stones in the sun herself. Just started saying absolutely crazy nonsense that made no sense trying to get me to believe that the ring was real. Anyway we clearly weren't getting anywhere and she had already started acting erratic so we left. With the ring. And NO solution. Anyway the ring that is supposed sterling silver is turing my finger green. I want to take the stones to get it appraised but I don't think it's worth it because i'm sure they are just resin. Don't make the mistake of buying ANYTHING from this business and being as gullible as me. Sandra I really do hope you feel good about taking advantage of a young woman just wanting to support your business. I was really proud of this purchase and normally do not spend money on my self in this way, now I know not to do it again. Do not waste your time on this business. 0 out of 5 stars. I am extremely disappointed.

Now, I know this is Yelp, but bear with me. There is NO live possum in store. There. Just level-setting things. (I somehow was really excited for a live possum, but alas....) Okay, BUT the possum items are ADORABLE!!! The best photo ops, and there is so much thought and detail and care. I got a small plush possum- and it even came with food (sprinkles) and a birth certificate, and how to care for it. They also gave me a few extra stickers. SO CUTE!!!

The guy working the shop, - I believe his name was Zombie- was a sweet, sweet guy, who was super helpful and pleasant and cute :-). He even prayed over the item I bought -so sweet- and gave me some pointers to a Museum. Good customer service is extremely important to me. It can mean the difference between spending money in one store versus another. It also makes you feel good. Zombie, you made my Sunday. Next time I visit New Orleans, I will definitely check out your store again.

We had discussed wanting to avoid getting "cookie cutter" rings as we wanted to go unique or art deco. We walked past the outside of their store and had to walk in. We were greeted by Effy and automatically fell in love with his charm and character. My girlfriend of 3 years at the time automatically spotted a ring that she fell in love with and I spotted mine right after. Effy said that he could easily re-size them for us and that they were having a sale. The ring my girlfriend picked out was the art deco style she was looking for and mine was a unique shape with almost a "triangual" shape on the top with 5 large diamons in the center and a solid band on the bottom. It needed to be sized down quite a bit, but it was not an issue. He said he could get them done that evening and to us the next morning. My girlriend was elated! We picked up our rings the next morning with a text message sent promptly at 10AM and I ran down to the shop and slid my ring on with a perfect fit. All polished and looking fantastic. Couldn't be happier. We still love our rings even to this day. Effy's wife is such a sweetheart and the heart of that store. They make such a beautiful couple and make you feel at home. We have never been to New Orleans before, but we are so glad that we stopped in and made some new family/friends. We will definitely be back for some more jewelry and even just to say hi. This was definitely one we had to return to during our short time. We were not disappointed. The pieces are designed from different architectural elements in the area, so not only are you getting an amazing piece of jewelry, but can wear a replica of history as well. The beaded necklaces reminded us of a more glamorous representation of the Mardi Gras beads too, which makes these items even more special. Every time we wear them, we are reminded about the rich history of the area, as well as the culture and festivities! The owner was very helpful as well, and even went so far as to assist us with directions for getting to our port of call!

The owner/artist explained that they go around the city (and in some cases the world) and take photos of design elements and use that inspiration to remix them into jewelry. Can't get more unique than that. The ladies at the store were super nice and knowledgeable. They knew the name of every piece and how it was made! They also took the time to explain to my husband the difference between engraving and intaglio. Plus the prices were very fair for handcrafted sterling silver.
