My hubs went in to browse while the kids chased bubbles from the bubble machine perched above the shop. Hubs called my daughter in as he found some earrings that reminded him of a moment he shared with her during the trip. My nephew and I followed her in and we all got sucked in by the awesome jewelry displays. The owner was very friendly and helped my nephew find a necklace within his ziplock bag budget range. She really spent a lot of time with the kids and made their keepsake purchases all the more special. In addition to jewelry she also sells really cool purses. My kiddo bought one and I would have gotten one too if I had any space in my carry ons. Good thing I grabbed her card :). She also had a very interesting background and provided a lot of great tips of things to do with kids in the quarter.

This is a great unique jewelry store to get something rare (if not one of a kind) to remember your New Orleans vacation. The pendents and earrings were designed inspired by metal work around the city (as long as they do not infringe on the Saints symbol). The owner/artist also makes beaded chains, and will ship them out to you if you have to depart before it's done. Mine arrived in the colors I liked to my size specifications in a matter of days.

This past year I've had a thing for purchasing copper jewelry- most bracelets from South Korea, Mexico City, Tijuana and Mt. Charleston. Wondered if anyone ever made copper necklaces. I saw a few vendors that had thick linked chains. I bought the medium $45 length- tax is high in New Orleans. Far cry from dainty but copper is supposed to be good for arthritis and health. Ok let's see.

Congested with wandering tourists, most of the vendors sell items that could be found at any flea market in the country. A lot of the souvenirs and clothing fell way short in reflecting authentic New Orleans craftsmanship. I was hoping for a market more along the lines of Barcelona's La Boqueria with bounties of fresh produce and appetizing edibles, but there was just a row of fast food kiosks beyond the beignets at Cafe du Monde. Without a doubt, the highlight of the market was the strolling groups of musicians randomly playing jazz to enraptured tourists. RELATED - Exploring New Orleans? I also bought 2 absolutely beautiful headbands. I can't remember the name for them right now, but it had feathers and jewels. The second time I came to New Orleans I was dying to check this place out again. I couldn't remember the name of it, but remember the general area that it looked like. I was so happy when I finally stumbled upon it and made sure to bookmark it on Yelp for next time! Although they did have a lot of the same jewellery I bought last time, there were some new pieces as well. They also have a wide range of standard souvenirs (magnets, shirts, mugs etc.). They seemed to be a little more unique, and well made than the standard "souvenir" shops.
