I wouldn't stay here again! The floor in my room wasn't very clean, the toilet is too low to the floor, I was locked out of my room when I came back because somehow they deactivated my key and I wasn't happy about that because I'm handicapped and I had to climb up stairs to get to my room, which meant I had to climb back down them to walk over to the office, get my key reactivated and then climb back up those stairs again while my $11 ice cream sundae was melting in my car because I couldn't get into my room! The air conditioner kept going off and on every five minutes, I had to just finally shut it off, at 6 AM there were people just below my room having a conversation like it was 6 PM at night and I think it was someone doing some work around here! I would have checked out and gone to another hotel, but I saw with the woman in the lobby in front of me had to do in order to hopefully get a refund! She was leaving because there was mold in the bathroom, her bed was hard as cement, her AC did not work at all! Anyway, my advice is to go somewhere else if you come to Boothbay Harbor in Maine! read more

We booked 3 rooms for the Gardens AGLOW in Boothbay Harbor. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I liked that the floors were vinyl plank and not carpet. TV was nice and had DirecTV. The complementary breakfast in the AM was not bad at all. I have a GF allergy and they provided options for me including Udi's muffins, fruit, eggs and yogurt. The Flagship Inn is a good moderate priced stay. Not fancy or high end, but clean and comfortable and the right price. If you want fancy - go to Bar Harbor, not Boothbay Harbor. read more

Website says renovated rooms with walk-in shower. NOT TRUE. Perfect for disabled which I am and that was why I requested 1st floor. I brought this to their attention after entering the room that smelled like a wet animal. No concern at all. They gave me spray deodorizer and told me only 5 rooms were actually renovated and they blamed me for booking with hotels.com. Like I would have got 1 of those 5 if I hadn't? Yet their website says same. Apparently reno for years now...So false advertising. Electric outlets all used and hanging unattached. Dirty floors, grounds unkept. 2 day stay no towels at the pool. Breakfast was good for being included. Place is run down and needs more than sprucing up- needs website changed to be accurate and customer friendly service. employees. I have stayed here before with no issues, besides the fact that it is run down. It was clean. This time, we were put in a room where the heat did not work. The clerk put us in a room a couple of doors down. The heat worked and the bathroom looked clean. While sitting in bed, I noted a bug crawling on the side table. We inspected it and saw that it was a bedbug. We immediately contacted the clerk, while pulling down the sheets and looking around more. We found that the edge of one of the beds had a dried blood spot (like it had been laundered) about 12" large. Also, the floor had crumbs & hairs behind the bed. We immediately told the clerk we would be leaving, and he said he would issue a refund. We got out of there fast, unfortunately did not take pictures besides one of the bug. Expedia worked to get us a refund, but the HOTEL REFUSED. STAY AWAY read more

We stayed here three nights for a cost of $150 per night two people. Breakfast included. Comfortable bed. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was basics of eggs, sausages, waffles (make your own) home fries, cereal and juice. Short on fruit. Free wireless. Direct TV with very few options. Breakfast is next door in spacious restaurant. You could say you get what you pay for but I think this hotel hits a little higher. Could use a bit more TLC in the room. We're willing to use them again if we opt for a hotel. read more

STAY AWAY!!!!!! THEFT BY MANAGER!! I accidentally booked a stay at this hotel for literally 3 MINUTES (yes, a total of 3 minutes). When I realized I booked the wrong location, I called and was refunded within 11 MINUTES (yes, within 11 minutes). 3 weeks later, the manager charges $250.44 to my debit card again, ON HIS OWN, WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE, WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION, AND WITHOUT A RESERVATION. I've NEVER stayed at his hotel. I've NEVER even been to the state of Maine. He refuses to refund me. He will not tell me his name or the owner's name. He refuses to tell me who authorized him to charge my credit card. Talk about shady!!!! He is a thief and should be behind bars and this hotel should be closed down. Read other reviews and you will see how this establishment runs. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT/DEBIT CARD!!!!!!! JUST GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, OR RISK BEING ROBBED!!! read more

Beware of the Flagship Inn new owners! We are an older couple who booked a pet room online verified by their own website email confirmation for two adults and a pet. After check-in the clerk angrily confronted my husband, claiming we lied about our pet and rudely shouting that he was charging us an additional $300 penalty. Even with the Flagship Inn email confirmation in hand, he refused to stop his out-of-control rant that he was calling the police when my husband said he wouldn't pay the fine. We waited to show the police our proof but they never showed up. We returned the key and left without staying. The clerk absolutely refused to give us a receipt for our $540.00 credit card charges! After reading reviews of similar experiences at Flagship Inn Boothbay Harbor on various sites, I believe we were set up and it was a scam. It was the worst travel experience I've ever had, ever. read more

This motel should not receive any stars. The front desk manager was RUDE and had no sense of customer service. We were charged $300. for their mistake, did not stay there because of the condition of the room, dirty, no baseboards or covers on electrical outlets, unfinished painted walls and the false charges of nearly $682. for a 2 night stay and a fine of $300. The fine was for having a dog in the wrong room. A ROOM THE STAFF PUT US IN FOR OUR STAY. Traveling with a dog, we were careful to book places that were pet friendly!! Terrible! what was booked as a queen sized turned out to be a very small room with a double bed and a big open bathtub. The front desk person argued with me when I tried to tell him it was not a queen size bed, which is kind of ridiculous. The room we first had did not have working lights. They have dollar store stick on lights that have dead batteries. We got a new room with a lamp after that. The heating system on the lowest setting makes the room extremely hot, ac on highest setting gets too cold when it's freezing temps overnight plus the paper thin sheets. Bathroom was dirty. The next day we left for breakfast & came back to them in our room cleaning/threw away all of our food/the lunch we had for the day plus alcohol that was ours in the fridge only to say oh sorry it's all in the trash when we showed back up a half an hour before checkout & us not even dropping off our room keys yet. The continental breakfast was oranges & cereal. Will never recommend or stay here again. read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone. First room we got had a TV that did not work. We planned to spend some time in the pool and hot tub so we wouldn't need a TV, but we were informed that the pool area closes early at 8:00 so we would definitely need a TV. Went to the front desk and the very nice young lady there came to our room to fix it but turned out a cable was missing so she gave us another room. That TV worked, but there were many other issues. The bathroom door did not close, only one outlet by the bed and you could only plug in one thing because the cover was broken and covered the bottom plug making it inaccessible. When two people sit on the same bed, the bed comes up off the floor and the two of us almost landed on the floor. Bed was not very comfortable. You could feel the bed springs through the mattress and they were quite squeaky. The shower head was not clean so we did not take a shower. Thank goodness we were only there one night. Before checking out we went to breakfast. Their complimentary breakfast wasn't bad. There were scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries, waffle maker, bread and bagels beside 2 toasters, yogurt and dry cereal. There was milk but while we were there someone had the milk and said it had gone bad. If I ever go to Boothbay harbor again I will pay the extra money to stay at a better hotel. Taneesha at the front desk was the bright star to our unpleasant stay. read more

We checked in here when we visited the coast of Maine for vacation. We booked the room with the manager, Nancy, which was very nice, but she only works during the week. The weekend manager did not honor our coupon and wasn't very friendly. The rooms were OK. It didn't look like anybody cleaned the floor in a while or swept it. Unfortunately, that was the only place that had rooms in the area at the time. Everything was booked. It worked for us. The served breakfast: coffee, juices, yogurt, bread and sausage. For some reason, they didn't serve eggs. If you're just looking for a place to sleep and shower, that's the place. read more

I wish I could give this place a better rating, but, in good conscience, I can't. It's old, dated and smells a bit musty. The carpets needed replacing ages ago. Booked a last minute stay based on booking.com recommendations for Flagshipp inn. For 5/31-6/2,Took a 7 1/2 ride from N. Y. Had planned a late check in, which went smooth. Clerk was very polite. Got to room. Had booked 1 king size bed, had gotten 2 full size...not a big deal. The rooms seem to have been recently refreshed. Furniture and room were clean, but have a old musty smell, with a odor of paint along with the musty smell. Very hard to enjoy with this. Website had said a pool was available, only to find out they had had a fire recently and pool was not available. Neither their own web site or booking.com mentioned this. After dinner my wife and I decided to just leave the following morning rather than finish out the stay, with no pool and the smell rather just pack up and head home. If you are in this beautiful area I really can't recommended this place. I hope the review helps someone else avoid my mistake. Do not enjoy paying for something and not receiving it and worse paying for a night I won't even be staying there for. As they say another lesson learned always call before booking if a amenity like a pool or hot tub is in working condition. Hopefully the owners can work on better communication and figure out a way to put air conditioner on before arrival to help eliminate odor. Although my experience wasn't good I wish them luck in fixing the hotel up. It's a beautiful area to visit. read more

In town to plan a funeral. Needed one night's lodging. Not good. No ports for my devices. Not enough outlets. Poor lighting-only 2 bedside lamps. Had to sacrifice privacy by opening the drapes so I could see. Duck tape holding the inside door handle together. Cable tv stopped working. Coffee machine didn't work. Had to go outside and around the building to get ice. Ice bucket bag didn't fit bucket and there was no scoop in the machine. Had to use my hands. Bedsheets were scratchy and thin bedcovers. This place is a disaster, I have no idea why it's so well reviewed. The shower head was broken, so I mentioned it to the front desk, next day still no repair. Came back to the room after it was "cleaned" to find hair on the floor. The towels at the pool are falling apart. I could go on and on, but you get the picture. If I could give this hotel no stars, I would. The rate was $172.00 for tonight, Monday. When I called to reserve the room the manager was somewhat brisket with me and when I arrived he was actually rude. He told me that there is no ice available because their machine is broken. When I asked if he would get a bag of ice for his customers (from a local store )he rudely said "no" and made a face at me, indicating that I was unreasonable. The room has no closet and there is no place to hang our clothes. The musty smell in the room is nauseating. The room is way over priced for the quality of the furnishings, no rug, uncomfortable chairs and no writing desk. I asked him to refund my credit card because we were very dissatisfied with everything about this hotel and wanted to leave. I was bluntly told that we had to have a 24 hour notice to cancel. Rather than lose the deposit we are staying. Do not think about staying here. There are many hotels nearby that have vacancy signs, read more

Looks nice from the outside but the rooms are terrible. First problem was the key card didn't work and we stood around for 15 minutes while staff tried to figure out the problem. The room was dark and dingy. Beds were terrible. Outlet was exposed with no cover; toilet ran; sink didn't drain well; tub filthy; TV the side of a postage stamp; heat wasn't turned on before we got there (in December.) During the night the loud heater cycled on and off continually, in about 3 minute cycles. One skimpy bedspread and no blankets. Tile cracked. You get the picture. The restaurant provided only continental breakfast and otherwise was closed. Positive side: clean and no bugs. Would I stay there again? Never. read more

I do not know how this inn is rated so high. Not only did the rooms (we looked at 2) smell like chemical cleaners that burned our throats, I am in a wheelchair and neithert of their rooms, including their "ADA" room accommodated my needs. We did not know this until seeing the room. When we told them our problem, not only did they REFUSE to reimburse us the cost of the room, they were extremely rude with us. Of course we didn't stay, but they charged us for the room. I would NOT recommend this inn. Find another place to stay so you don't ruin your vacation. It was fine. That's the review. It was a basic, small, motel room - but very clean. No complaints, no hurrahs. We arrived after the 3pm check in time and found no staff present. After arriving to our room the TV was broken and they said someone would be down in 5 minutes to fix it but we ended up waiting over an hour before anybody showed up. A continental breakfast was advertised and our expectations weren't high but I don't think this could even be considered a breakfast. There were 2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with a bite taken out of one of them along with a few stale muffins. We were walked in on by a hotel staff member without even knocking. Thankfully I had just finished getting changed. Overall, very uncomfortable, unpleasant and would not be staying here again. read more

We had to book at the last minute for a family function, so expected to pay more. We have stayed previously in the hotel and had a good experience, but they now have new owners. We booked a deluxe King size room. It was anything but "Deluxe". It was basically a standard room but with a king sized bed. A comparable room I would expect to pay c. $100 per night. Far less than we paid. When we arrived we were given a dark, smelly twin bedded room. We asked for what we have paid for and were given a King size bed, certainly not "Deluxe". The room was clean but very basic. 1 (one) only 60watt bedside light, no other lights in room. 2 (two) bed lights too dim to read by (I tried at night). Stained ceiling tiles Coffee machine not working No wardrobe, there was a shelf that had a clothes rail that was not fitted. No inclusive breakfast (a $5 voucher at remote diner!!!). What sort of breakfast can you get for $5? Plus have to drive and find parking. We are told that the diner is usually packed. Cheap chairs, for the price we paid we expected reasonable furniture and something like fruit and other food. Nothing was available on site. The pool was clean but there were noticeable loose paving slabs around pool. They have also stopped having poolside towels available. The restaurant was not open. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid. read more

If I could have left zero stars I would have. This place has new owners and it has went completely downhill. I'm a first time mom to a crawling baby so I brought my cordless vacuum to quickly vacuum before I let him loose. I'm happy i did because not even fully under the bed on the floor was a little pinkish pill. Google image helped us discover it was omeprazole 20mg. Children under 1 cannot have that drug. They have to be over 1 and weigh over 10kg in order just to have 5mg safely. 20 mg pill could have easily killed my 9kg child. Not to mention the sink had mold in it and so did the shower curtain. We also discovered a cockroach on our bed. When I told the owner he seemed like he could care less and didn't even say sorry. Do not stay here if you are handicapped. My family booked their "Handicap Superior Double Room" with a roll-in shower because of our daughter's mobility issues. When my husband took a shower, several inches of water leaked onto the bedroom floor creating a hazardous situation for our daughter. We immediately notified the front desk. Maintenance was not able to determine the cause of the issue, and hotel management was not sympathetic. Their website claims that "their highest priority is your comfort and safety." This is more like a 2-story motel. The location is just minutes from the harbor area. There is a musical theater within 100 feet but this was closed during our stay. It would have been a wonderful experience for us to attend a show there then simply walk back to our room after. The rooms were clean and well equipped but the decor was certainly dated. This place has issues. Seems to me like the owners are done investing in it and are done caring. "Continental breakfast" was seriously lacking. The breakfast juice was portioned out in plastic dressing cups. They had cereal, some low grade yogurt, and nasty breakfast sandwiches that were obviously previously frozen and pretty gross. The room smelled very mildewey, there was a ceiling panel in the bathroom that was moldy and about to break through, and the decor was old and dated. The king sized bed was old and springy.
