Thank heavens I found this place. My mum drove into a curb at Manchester Airport, right before we were about to start a 10 hour drive. Bumper was dragging on the ground and there were some very disturbing clunking sounds. Henry's Collision Center dealt with the bumper, but the clunking was a job for a mechanic. Found FiveStar and David did a quick evaluation, found the problem, and fixed it in 30 min. Ten hours later, we made it safely! Fantastic work, very reasonable price, and fast! read more

Five Star gets one star. They estimated that the relacement of two front coil springs on a '99 Malibu would be $700. We found the exact parts online at $97.99 for a pair, so called around and found a shop that estimated the repair at $429 (turned out to be a $403 total charge). When we came to get the car, Rich the manager would not allow AAA to tow the car away, stating that he didn't have to allow them on "his property." He held the car hostage until we agreed to pay a half-hour's labor ($42.50) for the "estimate." (This "estimate" mostly consisted of looking into the wheel well to see that one of the coil springs had broken). He also threatened that he could have tacked on a "storage fee" of $35/day because he held the car over the Memorial Day weekend. Neither the "estimate" fee or the "storage fee" were discussed or disclosed to us at any time, nor does he have a rate sheet defining these rates, nor does he post any warnings about these rates at any public place in the shop. Rich explicitly told us that we were being charged this fee because we declined his services. Rich is all smiles when you bring your car in, but as soon as we expressed our intention to take the car elsewhere, he was a totally different person: curt, beligerent, and only worried about his bottom line. To summarize: Five Star is overpriced and will hold your car hostage if you don't like their prices. Please, try Midas on Auto Center Road in Manchester - they have saved us many hundreds of dollars! read more

In the middle of a very cold winter, my '98 Subaru Forester died, due in part to a broken timing mechanism. Had it towed to a local dealer, who fixed it, but determined car also needed a valve job. They quoted me a MINIMUM of $2,400, a lot to invest for a 16 year old car! Was recommended to 5 Star, and Dave did a diagnostic and came up with a price of $1,800. In the end, there were less bent valves than originally thought, and the price was reduced to a more palatable $1,600, inclusive of all parts, labor, coolant, oil, etc. Dave also performed several other minor repairs and tweaks while he had the car (including lying on the frozen ground on a below zero day to find a minor coolant leak!), and had the car running GREAT in the time frame promised. Dave and Rich have a great business, and are very professional and courteous. If you have pretty much any type of repair work needed, you would do yourself a disservice if you don't check them out! Needed a 4 wheel alignment on my 2008 Civic. For $79.99 (actually half that with the Half Off NH coupon) they did the work at my appointed time with a read out of before and after readings. Then Rich answered all my questions and I left with a 6 month warranty on the job. They have a nice clean facility, are courteous and professional, and have free K-cup coffee if you need to wait. I have a $20 credit from my coupon and I look forward to having them service my vehicle again. read more

Be wary... this is one of those places that quotes you one price but then charges you another. Also, they told me that my alignment would take 1 hour, but it actually took closer to 2 hours. When I went to the counter to ask about why it was taking so long, I was responded rudely about my car being "difficult." They also refused my coupon (which was the only reason I went there in the first place) without any real explanation, just some gibberish about "policies". The man I dealt with (won't name names) was rude, unprofessional, and seemed to lack complete sense about what customer service means. When I asked to speak to the manager, I was simply informed he was "out," and not given any information about how or when to reach him. I left feeling frustrated, overcharged for what should have been a simple repair, and having spent way more time than I anticipated. Use caution if choosing this place, there are far better options around. read more
